In the second episode of Season 18, JJ (played by AJ Cook) and husband Will (returning guest star Josh Stewart) were at home talking through their kids' busy, busy schedules as the latter fought off a 'migraine.'
Mere moments later, though, Will collapsed onto the kitchen floor. JJ immediately phoned 911, but it would be for naught. At episode's end, after the BAU team members each got word of the situation and arrived at the hospital, JJ came out to quietly announce, 'He's gone…. Will's dead.'
Back in Evolution's first season, Will went through a health scare due to a thyroid condition he then had taken care of. This fatal aneurysm, Rebecca and Tara relayed to the team, was caused by 'a spontaneous rupture of the inferior thyroid artery, which is rare.'
Also rare have been on-screen appearances by JJ's hubby. Stewart, who made his debut as the NOPD detective way back in Season 2 of the CBS crime drama, announced on X in January 2024 — ahead of Season 17 — that 'sadly, my days of playing Will LaMontagne Jr. are over.'
He was brought back, however, for that blink-and-you-missed-it death scene.
During Aisha Tyler's recent visit to TVLine's NYC video studio, I asked Tara's portrayer about also directing this important episode.
'Oh gosh…. That was a very seminal moment for the characters, for the series,' she remarked.
'I love this cast,' she continued, and 'it's exciting to direct them in any condition,' as she has done before. But 'getting to direct them for a big emotional moment is always really, really satisfying, and also a big responsibilty.
'Frankly we don't always get to do big emotions on this show… so it was just savory,' Tyler added.
In the immediate aftermath, Tyler previewed, JJ will understandably grapple with her up-ended world, and whether to return to her job of 'saving lives.'
'She's going to have to work through this incredible loss, and how does it affect her work, how does it affect her children…,' Tyler added. 'For anybody out there who has lost a loved one, it's obviously very devastating, and then the question becomes, 'How do I go on? Can I go on?''
This much is certain, though: franchise vet Cook will make viewers feel every bit of JJ's heartbreak.
'A.J. Cook is an amazing actress and an extraordinary human being,' said Tyler, 'and what I enjoy most about [directing] is seeing people succeed. So to watch her play that storyline this season was really, really gratifying, and she absolutely kills it.'
Let's all now soothe the sting some by revisiting JJ and Will's Season 7 wedding….

'Ghost Adventures' Star Aaron Goodwin Gets Emotional Confronting Estranged Wife as She Is Sentenced for Conspiring to Murder Him

Aaron Goodwin confronted his estranged wife Victoria Goodwin during her sentencing on June 5 He told the judge he "will never feel safe" and he fears for his life after finding out that his estranged wife conspired to have him killed Victoria was sentenced to a minimum of 36 months and a maximum of 90 months in prison after taking a plea deal in AprilAaron Goodwin confronted his estranged wife Victoria Goodwin for conspiring to murder him. The Ghost Adventures star, 49, read a statement in court as Victoria was sentenced on Thursday, June 5, detailing how he felt when he found out that she had been plotting his murder and the subsequent fear he had for his safety. 'For seven years I thought I was in [the] most loving relationship of marriage with my best friend, someone I trusted [with my] whole heart and laughed with every day. Someone who made me feel like I was so — like I was her one and only,' an emotional Goodwin told the judge, per Court TV. "Now, discovering she put a hit out to kill me more than once, got blackmailed and spent almost all our savings to keep it quiet … This has led me to fear [for] my life,' he continued, through tears. 'I've hired armed security for weeks. Not knowing [whether] it was over or not.' Aaron, who filed for divorce from Victoria in March, told the judge that ever since he found out about the plot, he has been 'looking over' his shoulder and going through therapy to understand everything that has happened. He then described the feeling as a 'heartbreak no one should go through in life," stating, "The fact that this person did all this to me with no worry, no care or love in her heart for me, I will never feel the same." "I will never feel safe or be the same because of what she did. Especially when she gets out one day," Aaron added. 'Whether she [gets] minimum or maximum time, I still won't feel safe whenever she's released. I feel like this deserves prison time." Victoria was later sentenced to a minimum of 36 months and a maximum of 90 months in prison, according to KVVU-TV. She previously accepted a plea deal in April, pleading guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit murder. Victoria was initially taken into custody on March 6 on charges of soliciting to commit murder and conspiring to commit murder. She allegedly conspired with convicted murderer Grant Amato, with whom she began a relationship in March 2024, after seeing him in the Paramount+ true crime docuseries, Ctrl + Alt + Desire, per a police report. After Victoria and Amato met, she allegedly conspired to kill Aaron with her new lover's help — allegedly going as far as discussing payments for his murder. Their alleged plans were discovered when a phone Amato had been communicating with Victoria on was confiscated by prison security guards. Aaron and Victoria had been married since August 2022. Following the news of Victoria's alleged murder-for-hire plan, Aaron filed for divorce in a complaint that read, "There is no possibility of reconciliation between husband and wife.' Aaron later thanked his fans for their continued support in a March 22 Instagram post. "Thank you everyone for all the love and support through this emotionally trying time. It has really helped a lot and I appreciate you all,' he wrote. Read the original article on People

Love Wins! 13 LGBTQ+ TV Couples We're Rooting For in 2025

Here at TVLine, we've always been big 'shippers at heart. What can we say? We just love love. So with another Pride Month officially in full swing, we thought we'd take stock of some LGBTQ+ TV couples currently demanding our attention — as well as our full support. And what a group we've assembled this year, one that includes a pair of ghosts, a few vampires and, yes, even a handful of humans. More from TVLine Glad The Last of Us Spared Dog? Did Rehearsal Give You High Anxiety? Did Survivor 50 Need Fan Input? Vexing Organized Crime Absences? More Qs! The Last of Us Season 3: Is Pedro Pascal Gone for Good? Here's What the EPs Say The Last of Us Finale Kills [Spoiler], Teases Abby's Side of the Story - Plus, Grade It! To be eligible for inclusion in our list, a couple needs to be from a live-action, scripted series that's still airing new episodes. We also limited ourselves to only one couple per show. Read on for a breakdown of 13 LGBTQ+ TV couples we're currently rooting for, arranged alphabetically by show title, then drop a comment with your own additions to the list. Which queer pairings currently have your full attention? The very definition of #CoupleGoals (are people still saying that?), Hen and Karen have been an inspiration, both to the other couples on the show and to the viewers at home, from the moment we met them in Season 1. They've had to fight tooth and nail to keep their growing family intact, with every obstacle making them stronger along the way. Plus, there's simply no denying Aisha Hinds and Tracie Thoms' natural chemistry. — Andy Swift An esteemed Congressman and an in-demand journalist? These two have the potential to become D.C.'s top gay power couple — that is, if they can get their house in order first. Martin may own an array of designer suits, but with all those skeletons in his closet, he barely has anywhere to put them. If Smitty uncovers his husband's truth before Martin reveals it himself, things could get very ugly. — A.S. Criminal Minds over 18 seasons (and counting) has, frankly, not featured much LGBTQ+ romance, so Evolution steering Tara into bisexual territory was monumental. Save for an early-season love scene (a rarity for the crime drama!), this pairing has had little screen time in Season 18, but it's good to know they're going strong — to the point that it may be time to meet the parents! — Matt Mitovich Not unlike the Grinch, Leo Stark's heart has grown several sizes during his time in Salem, and the former grifter is always at his best when he's in a stable relationship. After a string of failed romances, Leo seems to have finally gotten it right with Javi, and we're enjoying this latest version of him. Hey, what could possibly go wrong to screw up this perfect pairing? It's not like we're talking about some kind of soap op… oh, right. — A.S. This flame was well on its way to being rekindled when all hell broke loose in the Season 3 finale — just as Eve got blindsided by Francine's talk of having kids. In the heat of the moment, Eve didn't pivot well (at all), but in the wake of Francine's heroics during the Three Rock blaze, we hope they in fact are back on track. — M.M. Yes, the cute couple played by Colman Domingo and Marco Calvani hit a bit of turbulence in the freshman season of Netflix's vacation comedy. (Danny ignoring his health issues and Claude's hot Italian temper led to a fight where Danny's clothes ended up on the front lawn.) But once you get past all the drama, there's a genuine sweetness to these two, and we loved watching them cuddle together and make up. — Dave Nemetz We #Momelia fans are a patient lot. It's been more than a season since Amelia first asked out the new colleague with whom she sparks so appealingly, and they still haven't so much as kissed. Nevertheless, their mutual respect for and ever-increasing understanding of one another keeps us telling ourselves, 'Maybe the next episode will be the one.' — Charlie Mason In Season 3 of Netflix's butterflies-inducing LGBTQ+ dramedy, the high-school sweethearts' romance was tested like never before — by their cohabitation, by the academic pressure on the former, by the latter's nonbinary journey. Yet as we shippers knew they would, the couple managed to rise to the challenges before them and emerge closer than ever on the other side. — C.M. You want to talk about bringing down the house? When these immortal lovers reunited in a hotel at the end of Season 2, in the midst of a devastating New Orleans storm, the structure quite literally crumbled around them. Louis and Lestat have a love for the ages, and now that their mutual misunderstandings have been cleared up, we're hoping for a fresh start moving forward. — A.S. The two post-apocalyptic teens managed to start a relationship in a) a mushroom apocalypse, b) while in deep grief over someone they both adored, and c) despite the fact that one of them was pregnant by someone else. Talk about finding love in a hopeless place! — Kim Roots There's no telling what the future holds for these two badass warriors — literally, the Paramount+ drama has yet to be renewed for a third season — but after all they went through and barely survived at the close of Season 2, it is one of our most fervent wishes that they found the time for lots of not talking. — M.M. Charley is one of those puppy dog characters to whom you only ever want to see good things happen, so imagine our pleasant surprise when he struck up a romance with pouty potter Yuri in the ghost drama's second season. The chemistry, the kisses, the Ghost reenactment — it was all just so, so good. If they couldn't be their authentic selves when they were alive, at least they can be happy together in the afterlife, right? — A.S. After four long, dry seasons (unless you count tears!), we were beginning to think that Isaac would never find someone to share his life with. But then, just when we least expected it, along came Michael to sweep his former frenemy off his feet. Watching them awkwardly figure out their feelings for one another was an unexpected delight, and that first kiss at the Christmas festival? Come on, now! We're all in with these two. — A.S. Is ‘Special Ops: Lioness' returning for season 3? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 7, 2025, 19:48 IST Special Ops: Lioness , the gripping spy thriller created by Taylor Sheridan, has kept audiences on edge with its high-stakes missions and stellar cast, including Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman. With Season 2 wrapping up on December 8, 2024, fans are eagerly asking: Is Special Ops: Lioness Season 3 happening? Here's everything we know so far. Has Special Ops: Lioness Been Renewed for Season 3? As of now, Paramount+ has not officially confirmed Special Ops: Lioness Season 3. However, there are strong indicators that a third season is likely. Zoe Saldaña, who stars as CIA operative Joe McNamara, revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that she signed on for at least three seasons, suggesting a contractual commitment for more episodes. Additionally, South African streaming platform Showmax responded to a fan inquiry, stating that Season 3 is 'confirmed' and expected to arrive 'soon,' though no official announcement from Paramount+ has backed this claim yet. Special Ops: Lioness Potential Release Date for Season 3 Without an official renewal, no specific release date for Special Ops: Lioness Season 3 has been announced. However, based on the production timelines of previous seasons, we can make an educated guess. Season 1 premiered in July 2023, and Season 2 debuted in October 2024, with filming for Season 1 occurring between September 2022 and January 2023. If Season 3 follows a similar schedule, production could begin in mid-2025, potentially leading to a release in late 2025 or early 2026. What Will the Plot of Season 3 Be About? Special Ops: Lioness follows Joe McNamara and her team of female operatives as they undertake dangerous undercover missions to combat terrorism. Each season introduces a new high-risk operation, and Season 2 ended with the intense 'Operation Sky Hawk,' where the team intercepted Chinese nuclear scientists in Iraq to prevent escalation with Iran and China. The finale left several storylines open, setting the stage for Season 3. While specific plot details remain speculative, Season 3 is expected to dive into a new mission, potentially involving global conflicts hinted at in Season 2, such as tensions with China over Taiwan or new geopolitical threats. The series' signature blend of espionage, action, and moral dilemmas will likely continue, with Joe grappling with the personal toll of her covert work. Fans can also expect more paranoia, double-crosses, and intense firefights, as teased by the Season 2 finale's setup. Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication .
