Fadnavis continuously reviewing situation created by rains in Maharashtra

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been continuously reviewing the situation created by rains in the state and has instructed the entire administration to be on alert mode. He has ordered immediate panchnamas to be conducted in the places where damage has occurred. He is in constant touch with the state Chief Secretary and the state Disaster Management Cell.
Pune, Satara, Solapur, Raigad, Mumbai and MMR areas have received heavy rainfall in the state, officials said.
Twenty-five houses have partially collapsed in Baramati and seven people trapped in the flood have been rescued. About 80 families have been shifted to safer places. Two people have been rescued from the flood situation in Indapur. An NDRF team has reached Phaltan. Thirty people were stranded near Dudhebavi village. They have been provided with accommodation and food facilities.
Officials said Solapur received 67.75 mm of rain. Six people were stranded in the flood in Malshiras taluka and have been shifted to a safe place.
One person died due to lightning in Raigad, while the Mahad to Raigad Fort road has been closed due to heavy rain.
Mumbai received 135.4 mm of rain in 24 hours, officials said. Complaints of short circuit incidents were received from 18 places and complaints of building walls collapsing at five places. Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Fire Department, Mumbai Police and all other agencies are geared up. NDRF teams are ready at five places in Mumbai for any kind of help. Meteorological Department has predicted rains with thunder and gale force winds in Mumbai. (ANI)

Kishtwar cloudburst: Search continues as families look for those missing
In Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, the search operation continues for those missing after a cloudburst hit Chasoti village, which claimed 61 lives. Ravi Kumar, who came from Jammu, said he is searching for his sister and other family members after losing his elder sister in the disaster. He added that he has contacted the GMC in Jammu and the Kishtwar administration for updates on the ongoing search operation. Speaking to ANI, Ravi Kumar said, "I have come from Jammu to find my family members missing after the incident... My sister, her children, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law... My elder sister died in the Kishtwar cloud burst incident... We talked to the GMC in Jammu and talked to the Kishtwar administration as well for an update on the search for our relatives during the search operation..." Teams from NDRF, SDRF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CISF, Indian Army, and the local administration are working on the seventh day of the rescue operation. A day earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that it might be impossible to find anyone alive in the Kishtwar incident, stating that the disaster took place due to a cloudburst rather than a breach of glacial lakes. "Finding the missing persons alive now looks nearly impossible. In these circumstances, we will try to retrieve as many bodies and hand them over to their loved ones. According to the information we have received so far, the disaster that happened in Kishtwar was due to a cloudburst and not a glacial lake breach," Omar Abdullah told reporters. The cloudburst, which occurred during the Machail Mata Yatra on August 14, led to devastating flash floods, leaving around 55 people dead in Kishtwar. Security forces have since intensified relief and rescue efforts in the affected region.

Maharashtra: 21 killed in rain-related incidents in last five days
Twenty-one persons were killed in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra between August 15 and August 19, PTI reported, quoting the State Disaster Management Authority. In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall and flooding in the state have led to six deaths – four in Nanded and one each in Mumbai and Beed districts. Five persons have been reported missing, according to ANI. One of the trains came to a halt between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations, following which more than 500 passengers were rescued. Around 200 passengers were evacuated from another stalled monorail between Acharya Atre and Wadala stations. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, preliminary checks showed that the total weight of the train had reached approximately 109 metric tonnes, exceeding its design capacity of 104 metric tonnes. BMC quickly issued a clarification on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing the notice as fake. 'This message is fake. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has not issued any such information through its official social media platforms," the civic body posted, while also sharing a screenshot of the forged message. While Mumbai is on orange alert, neighbouring Raigad district is under a red alert with predictions of heavy to very heavy rainfall. IMD has also forecast heavy showers in parts of Thane and Palghar. Flight operations at Mumbai airport are likely to face delays, while local train services may also be impacted due to the rain. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly. According to meteorological reports, the intense rainfall is linked to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, coupled with strengthening monsoon winds.
