This initiative is part of the newly launched NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem & Vision) scheme, introduced this year.
To get things rolling, all heads of schools across Delhi will participate in an orientation session this week. This training will equip them to effectively implement NEEEV in classrooms and help students combat the potential problems they may face.
Aligned with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NEEEV aims to prepare students for real-world challenges by equipping them with the mindset and tools needed to innovate, ideate, and build sustainable ventures.
Under this scheme, students will be gradually introduced to various facets of entrepreneurship, including startup ecosystems, ideation, prototyping, funding strategies, and the fundamentals of launching and managing a business.
Weekly sessions will be conducted by school faculty members appointed by the principal, ensuring consistent and hands-on learning throughout the academic year.
All school principals and heads across Delhi are required to attend a mandatory orientation programme until July 24, organised by state council of educational research and training.
Each school will also appoint a NEEEV school program coordinator responsible for monitoring implementation through a soon-to-be-launched online portal. In addition, schools must establish a school innovation council, chaired by the principal, to oversee entrepreneurship activities and evaluate student projects.
To enrich student engagement, Delhi govt is introducing two flagship components under NEEEV: NEEEV Dialogue, a biannual speaker series that brings together entrepreneurs, university incubators, and industry experts to inspire and mentor students; and Startup Stormers, a competitive platform for students from Class IX onwards, where selected teams with innovative ideas may receive financial support to transform their prototypes into viable startups.

In 2019–20, Aam Aadmi Party govt introduced the entrepreneurship curriculum to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking among students. A key feature of this programme was Business Blasters, a practical initiative that offered seed funding to students, enabling them to turn their ideas into real-world business ventures.

Govt. schools to get ICT labs, students high-end laptops

NEW DELHI Education Minister Ashish Sood said on Tuesday that the Delhi government will set up Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs in 175 government schools and distribute free high-end laptops to 1,200 meritorious students who passed the Class 10 examination. The initiative is part of the Mukhya Mantri Digital Education Scheme and aims to equip students with digital tools aligned with evolving technology, he said at a press conference. The laptops, equipped with i7 processors, will be provided to academically outstanding students at a total cost of ₹8 crore. 'This will enable them to pursue their aspirations in the digital age without technological barriers,' Mr. Sood said, adding that the scheme aligns with the National Education Policy 2020. The Minister said each ICT lab will follow the CBSE parameters and be equipped with 40 computers. The government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private organisation to establish 100 ICT labs in as many government schools under its Corporate Social Responsibility, he said. Political blame game Hitting out at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Mr. Sood claimed that not a single government school in Delhi currently has a functional computer lab, despite AAP's repeated claims of having transformed education in the Capital. 'Out of 1,074 government schools, not even one has a working computer lab. I invite the media to verify this on the ground,' he said. AAP dismissed Mr. Sood's claims. 'He has developed a habit of ranting about the previous government. If he believes there's any merit in his claims, he should order an inquiry or refer the matter to the ACB (Anti Corruption Branch)for probe,' it said.

Land pooling promises false: Warring

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring accused the Aam Aadmi Party govt of trying to cheat the farmers by promising compensation "which it is not in a position to pay". "It is like a post-dated cheque on a crashing bank," he remarked. Responding to the govt decision offering acre-based compensation to farmers until the area is developed, Warring observed that this is a diversionary tactic to befool farmers by the AAP govt. "Farmers will not bite the bait," he asserted, while pointing out, "when the govt doesn't have enough money to run its own day-to-day affairs, pay the salaries, or pay the promised Rs 1,000 to every woman, where will it get the money from to pay the farmers?" "This is a ploy to defraud the farmers and make them walk into the trap," he warned. Reiterating his appeal to the govt to withdraw the policy, Warring said: "What is the point when there is no need for land pooling." tnn

Abdullah calls for holistic implementation of NEP, calls it ‘magnificent and far-reaching' framework

Abdullah underscored the need for comprehensive, inclusive and locally adaptable implementation of the NEP 2020, calling it a visionary document whose success depends entirely on its understanding and execution at the grassroots level. The chief minister was addressing a one-day conference on NEP-2020 themed 'Empowering Education Leaders for Holistic Education' in Srinagar. Srinagar, Jul 22 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday advocated for a holistic implementation of the National Education Policy, and urged educators to empower learners. Emphasising the importance of reflection and course correction, the chief minister said, 'The New Education Policy is now five years old. This is the time to evaluate where we have succeeded, where we have fallen short, and what more can be done to implement it better'. A policy is only as effective as its application and understanding, he said. Terming the NEP-2020 a 'magnificent and far-reaching' framework, Abdullah stressed that the real change will come only when the policy is understood in its true spirit and implemented with sensitivity to local needs and realities. Pointing to gaps in subject availability and staff, the chief minister said that many government schools and colleges are unable to offer a wide range of subjects due to faculty shortages. 'In Jammu, only a few schools offer Urdu; in Kashmir, a few offer Hindi. Even regional languages like Kashmiri, Dogri, or Punjabi are taught in very limited number of institutions. These gaps need to be filled gradually, within our available resources,' he said. He also addressed frequent comparisons between government and private schools, highlighting that government institutions operate in areas where private schools often do not venture. 'Setting up a school in Srinagar is easy. Try opening one in Gurez, Tangdhar, or Machil. Our teachers work in extreme conditions, away from the spotlight, and deserve recognition,' he said. Abdullah also emphasized the importance of inclusivity in education. 'Every child — ”regardless of physical or learning challenges — ”deserves a chance to learn. Are our schools truly inclusive and accessible to all? This workshop is a good step in that direction,' he said. The chief minister expressed hope that such engagements will continue to inspire a positive change across the educational landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
