Will use power to serve people, not to settle scores with anyone: Revanth Reddy
Agency: PTI Hyderabad, Aug 16 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said he would like to use power for the welfare of people but not to settle a score with anyone. Speaking after releasing the book 'Hasita Bhashpalu' written by poet Ande Sri, he said his victory is enough to cause pain to those who troubled him in the past. The CM said some persons had told him that he could target those who caused him trouble as he is now in power. However, he replied that he does not see anyone as an enemy. Observing that he held the posts of Zilla Parishad member, MLC, MLA, MP in a span of 17 years (from 2006 to 2023) before assuming the role of chief minister, Reddy said he feels power should be used for the welfare of four crore Telangana people. Taking a veiled dig at BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said some people claim to be agitationists (for Telangana statehood) but true agitationists never claim. From Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara to Ande Sri, those who truly fought for people lost their personal properties and their families remained neglected, he said. 'But, those who claim to be agitationists acquired TV channels, newspapers, farmhouses and investments of thousands of crores. But, still they claim to be agitationists," he said. Reddy further said meeting the chief minister was a big thing earlier (during the BRS regime). However, anybody can meet the CM today, he said. 'I am one among you. I got this opportunity (CM post). As long as I have this opportunity, I will use it to serve poor people but not for my personal interests. Whether it is for five years or 10 years, I don't know," he added. Reiterating his resolve to make Telangana a USD one trillion economy by 2035 and a USD three trillion economy by 2047, the CM said he would make relentless efforts to make the state emerge as a USD three trillion economy by remaining active in public life till 2047. DDAs land licensing model bags Rs 10,000 cr deal
New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has awarded the first project under its new Special License Property (SLP) initiative to Fleur Hotels, a subsidiary of Lemon Tree Hotels, officials said on Saturday. The project is expected to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore over a 55-year period. 'DDA had invited bids through a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued on May 2, 2025, for a 2-acre land parcel in Nehru Place earmarked for a five-star hotel. The bidding process, conducted on August 13, saw Fleur Hotels secure the project with an annual license fee offer of Rs 27.19 crore, about 50 per cent higher than the reserve price of Rs 18 crore," DDA said in a statement. This marks a major shift in DDA's land disposal policy. Moving away from the traditional freehold and perpetual lease models, the SLP initiative allows long-term development on an annual license basis. Reforms set into motion last year by Lt Governor VK Saxena, have yielded spectacular results in terms of revenue generation for the DDA even while facilitating the much needed developments in the capital, the statement added. According to officials, the Rs 10,000-crore revenue estimate includes annual fee escalations over the 55-year license term. 'This new model is expected to significantly boost DDA's income, while facilitating key infrastructure development across hospitality, healthcare, logistics, and retail sectors," the statement added. The project awarded to Fleur Hotels will see the development of 'Aurika" at Nehru Place, one of Delhi's largest luxury hotels with over 500 rooms. Lemon Tree Hotels, which operates more than 110 properties in over 75 cities, plans to bring its upscale brand experience to the Capital through this venture. Govt slashes competitive exam fees; CM vows to boost policing
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday announced a significant relief for job aspirants taking two-tier competitive examinations conducted by state govt agencies, reducing the preliminary test (PT) fee to Rs 100 and waiving all fees for the main examinations. The announcement came during his address at the main state Independence Day function at Gandhi Maidan, where contingents of the state police, NCC and other groups saluted the CM. Various departments also showcased their tableaux to mark the celebration. Nitish said the relevant department would issue the notification soon. "Since we came to power in November 2005, the first step we took was controlling crimes and improving law and order, which remains the highest priority of the govt," he told the gathering, adding that a society where the rule of law prevails without fear was essential for progress. He highlighted the expansion of the police force from 42,000 personnel in 2005 to 1.10 lakh by 2022. A review last year concluded that Bihar required at least 2.22 lakh police personnel. "By now, we have further increased the strength to 1.31 lakh and are taking steps to reach the target of 2.23 lakh," he said, appealing for communal harmony. The CM described the caste-based headcount and economic survey as a landmark initiative, revealing that 94 lakh families across all caste and social groups had been identified as poor. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo "The govt decided to provide Rs 2 lakh to each of these poor families, and while some steps were taken earlier, it has now been decided to release the funds simultaneously. A high-level committee is working swiftly on this," he added. Nitish also recalled achievements in education, health, infrastructure, power supply and women's empowerment, especially through the Jeevika Didi programme. He said during his Pragati Yatra earlier this year, 430 schemes were announced, all of which had been approved by the cabinet with an overall investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
