Extraordinary comment Christian Horner's mum made about his wedding to Geri
The extraordinary comment that Christian Horner's mum made about his wedding to Geri Halliwell has been revealed.
Geri first met her now-husband back in 2009 when she was introduced by F1 tycoon Bernie Eccleston. However, it wasn't meant to be at the time as Christian was married to his first wife Beverley Allen and they were hoping have their first child together. But just five years later, Christian and Geri got together just six months after Beverley had their little girl.
Despite Geri and Christian now being together, it wasn't smooth sailing to get to where they are. Christian's parents Garry and Sara were reported to be appalled that their son had left Beverley just six months after she had given birth to their longed-for daughter Olivia in October 2013.
Christian's parents made their opinion clear when they refused to go to the couple's wedding in May 2015 at Woburn Abbey. The MailOnline reported that a journalist approached Beverley at her Cotswolds home just months after the split to ask if she wanted to comment on Geri being with her man.
Beverley politely declined to comment but as the journalist left, he was followed by a woman who called him back to tell him that she and her husband were outraged by how Christian had behaved.
She said she would not be attending the wedding, and that woman was Christian's mum Sara. She stuck to her word and they continued to support Beverley until she died at the age of 58 following a two-year battle with eye cancer.
This comes as it was revealed this week that Christian had left his F1 job after 20 years. F1 are yet to explain the reason why he had left.
Christian took to his Instagram to break his silence and release a statement on the matter. He wrote: "After an incredible journey of twenty years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the Team I have absolutely loved.
"Every one of you, the amazing people at the factory, have been the heart and soul of everything that we have achieved. Win and lose, every step of the way, we have stood by each other as one and I will never forget that. It's been a privilege being part of and leading this epic Team and I am so proud of our collective accomplishments and you all.
"Thanks to the amazing partners and fans who enabled us to go racing. Your support has helped grow the team from its humble beginnings to an F1 powerhouse that laid claim to 6 Constructors Championships and 8 Drivers Championships."
He then went on to thank "our rivals" saying "there would be no racing at all" without them. He added: " Formula 1 is a sport built on relentless ambition, passion, and respect. The rivalries have been fierce, but the mutual drive to innovate and raise the bar is what has made this journey so special."
Christian signed off the statement by saying: "It's been an honour to be part of this incredible era of motorsport. I leave with immense pride in what we've achieved and also with what's in the pipeline for 2026 — and huge respect for everyone who's made F1 the pinnacle it is today. Thank You. Christian."
Geri has not commented on her husband stepping down from his role either. This is despite her not being able to attend fellow Spice Girls Mel B's wedding last weekend due to supporting her husband.

The Light Blues face Panathinaikos in a crunch Champions League qualifier at Ibrox next Tuesday. New boss Martin has seven new players at his disposal, with winger Djeidi Gassama the latest new recruit. There's been plenty of change on the women's team too with boss Jo Potter leaving her role. They've also bid farewell to key players including Kirsty Maclean, Chelsea Cornet, Tessel Middag and Jane Ross. There has, of course, also been the US takeover of the club. But amid all of that change, a VERY familiar face has been spotted at the training centre. None other than Sir Alex Ferguson. The footie great, 83, of course had a two-year spell as a Rangers player - his boyhood club - between 1967 and 1969. Sir Alex is of course much more famous for a glittering managerial career, in which he led Aberdeen to league title and European glory before going on to become the greatest Manchester United boss ever. Rangers boss Russell Martin opens up on transfer plans as he delivers updates on Dessers and Igamane Govan-born Fergie has made the odd trip back to Ibrox in recent years. In fact, he was a guest of honour just last month when he was given the honour of a tour at the Rangers Museum. During his walk around the New Edmiston House shrine, Sir Alex spotted a letter he'd written to Dick Advocaat after the Gers' treble triumph back in 1999. Just a few weeks on, Sir Alex has been back at Rangers AGAIN. Rangers Women captain Nicola Docherty shared a picture of herself alongside the legendary boss in the training centre. Buzzing Docherty posted the snap to her Instagram stories and said: "Met a legend today, Sir Alex!" She also added: "His greatest quote - 'there was no way I could contemplate taking the England job. Can you imagine me doing that? A Scotsman? 'I always joked that I would take the position and relegate them: make them 150th rated country in the world, with Scotland 149'." Ferguson revealed in his autobiography that he HAD been offered the chance to become England manager during his career. Exactly what he was doing at the Rangers training centre remains to be seen. Chip Gaines defends decision to include gay couple on 'Back to the Frontier' show
Television personality Chip Gaines defended the inclusion of a same-sex couple in 'Back to the Frontier,' a new show featuring him and his wife, Joanna, about families who give up technology and try to live as homesteaders did in the 1800s. The show features married couple Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs and their 10-year-old twin sons, sparking backlash from prominent religious conservatives online. Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical pastor Billy Graham, said in a post on social media that the casting of a gay couple is 'very disappointing.' 'While we are to love people, we should love them enough to tell them the truth of God's Word,' Graham said. 'His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman. Promoting something that God defines as sin is in itself sin.' Gaines responded to the criticism in a social media post Sunday, encouraging people to ask questions and 'maybe even learn.' He added, 'It's a sad Sunday when 'non believers' have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian.' Gaines has responded to dozens of other critics in defense of Hanna and Riggs' inclusion in the show, quoting Bible verses and saying there are other TV shows critics could watch. In response to a critic who said 'we are extremely sad because of how much we have grown to admire and appreciate you both,' Gaines responded encouraging Christians to 'judge not' and 'love one another.' Hanna thanked Chip and Joanna Gaines in a post on his Instagram story Tuesday for 'leading with love, listening, and learning.' 'Representation matters deeply — especially for those who are still finding the courage to live their truth,' Hanna said in a longer post responding to the backlash from some conservatives. 'When families like ours are visible, it opens doors for others to feel safe, loved, and validated. Visibility isn't just about being seen; it's about making sure no one feels alone.' The couple has faced backlash before, but more often from those who support LGBTQ rights. They attend the Antioch Community Church, an evangelical church in Waco, Texas, which opposes same-sex marriage. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joanna Gaines said accusations that the couple is racist and anti-LGBTQ are 'so far from who we really are' and that the criticism is 'the stuff that keeps me up.'
