CPM slams one-year rule of coalition govt
VIJAYAWADA: CPM State secretary V Srinivasa Rao has slammed the one-year rule of the coalition government in the State stating that discontent was growing among the people on the government and its rule.
He said the NDA coalition parties have given 178 assurances before the polls in the election manifesto but implemented only 16.
He said the government will get only 1.5 grade points against the 10 for its poor performance and rule.
Srinivasa Rao along with the CPM leaders Chigurupati Baburao, K Prabhakara Reddy, AV Nageswara Rao and Subbavaramm addressed a media conference at Balotsavam Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Srinivasa Rao said people's income has not increased but the loans were mounting resulting in dissatisfaction and discontent. He released a book on one year rule of the coalition government explaining its failures.
The CPM leader said the people of AP were vexed with the YSRCP rule and gave absolute majority to coalition parties with 164 seats in the Assembly elections.
But the coalition government could not maintain the trust of the people. He said the government has taken one year to conduct the Mega DSC.
He demanded that the government take back the lands allotted to the corporate groups if they fail to utilise the lands in five years. He expressed concern over the reports of crime against the women and other violent incidents taking place like murders in the State. He recalled the Tenali incident where three youth belonging to SCs and Minority were tortured by the police on the road and stated that there was no difference between the YSRCP rule and the coalition rule. Referring to Yogandhra Pradesh, he said what is the use of Yoga to the poor people who have no food and mental peace.

Jamaat support for UDF remains hot topic in Nilambur bypoll campaign
MALAPPURAM: As the bypoll campaign heats up in Nilambur, the CPM is trying to keep the Congress' relationship with Jamaat-e-Islami an active topic of discussion. The CPM alleged that the Congress, which has repeatedly stated that it has no ties with communal forces at the national level, is taking a contradictory stance in the state. This is the main issue that the CPM is highlighting in the final week of the campaign. 'While the Congress national leadership is taking a stand against communalism, the state Congress leadership is mobilising communal forces to win in Nilambur. There have been no discussions regarding it. There is only an electoral relationship with them,' he said. AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal also reiterated the same stance. 'We have not told anyone not to vote for us. Accepting support in elections does not mean that we support their positions,' Venugopal told reporters in Nilambur. Meanwhile, Venugopal refused to comment on Opposition Leader VD Satheesan's statement that Jamaat-e-Islami had changed its stance on an Islamic nation. 'That you should ask him,' he said.

No more tolerance for violence
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that he will not sit idle if public safety or law and order is threatened. He alleged that YSRCP had destroyed the State and now it cannot bear to see the development and welfare brought by the coalition. 'They are conspiring like demons to disrupt the State. They called Amaravati, the city of the Gods, as a city of prostitutes. Is it right to meet ganja peddlers in Tenali and taking rowdies to Podili to attack women?' he questioned. Naidu stated that even after being reduced to 11 seats, they haven't learnt. When we are solving issues, they are trying to throw the State into chaos, disturb law and order, and harass the public, he criticised. 'They support criminals and wrongdoers. While the State government is giving Rs 12,000 per quintal for tobacco, the YSRCP leaders marched to Podili with thousands of followers, he pointed out. The CM stated that how arrogant one must be to call Amaravati as a city of prostitutes. 'These vulgar comments were a prelude to their violence in Podili. They even attacked women with stones. I will not remain silent if law and order is disturbed. I will not compromise on public safety,' he said, warning, 'So far, you've seen my tolerance. From now on, I will not hold back.'
