Glastonbury Across the BBC
Yes, it's that time of year again, when thousands of music lovers from around the world descend on Worthy Farm in Somerset for a weekend of music and more. It's 55 years since Michael Eavis welcomed visitors to his estate for a pop, blues and folk festival, which was headlined by The Kinks and T Rex, the latter being a last-minute replacement for Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. It's fair to say that things have grown since then…
This year, much of the focus will be on headliners The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, who will be appearing on the iconic Pyramid Stage. Charlie XCX, Kaiser Chiefs, Loyle Carner, The Prodigy and Wolf Alice are also set to appear, with Rod Stewart taking the famous Sunday afternoon legends slot. It's also rumoured that Lady Gaga, who last played at the festival in 2009, may appear.
There is also a large Irish contingent set to perform, including controversial rap trio Kneecap, who are back on the festival circuit after being removed from Glasgow's TRNSMT following a row over their political statements. Look out too for CMAT, Sprints, Inhaler, The Script and Snow Patrol, while Lorraine Nash, Oisín Leech, Hothouse Flowers, The Coronas, The Riptide Movement, The Henry Girls and US artist Rhiannon Giddens, who now calls Co Limerick home, are set to feature on the Acoustic Stage. With a line-up like that, it promises to be another classic year for attendees and TV viewers alike.

Murderer Behind The Mask Prime Video, streaming now
True crime isn't just the purview of Netflix, you know, and this Prime Video offering about Elaine O'Hara and Graham Dwyer hits particularly close to home. It highlights how An Garda Síochana meticulously pieced together the truth, turning an overlooked case into one of Ireland's most haunting murder trials. Back in September 2013, the remains of childcare worker O'Hara were discovered in the Dublin mountains. Initially believed to be a suicide, her case took a twisted tangent when fishermen stumbled upon crucial evidence leading to Dwyer, a respected architect who lived in Foxrock with his wife and kids. Beneath his carefully crafted facade lurked a secret life fuelled by a dark stabbing obsession, revealed through his disturbing text exchanges with O'Hara. Over the course of two 45-minute instalments, this Wag Entertainment-produced series purports to uncover how the investigation unfolded and the tragic story behind Elaine's murder.
The Waterfront Netflix, streaming now
From the makers of Dawson's Creek and Scream, we have this deliciously ridiculous number inspired by true events. It centres on the Buckley family, who have ruled Havenport, North Carolina, for decades. Now, with their patriarch, Harlan (Holt McCallany), recovering from multiple heart attacks (not helped by his predilection for impromptu punching sessions with his son), they resort to drug smuggling courtesy of a surprising face (belonging to Topher Grace). For more glossy, far-fetched US drama, season three of Manifest is now streaming.
The Buccaneers AppleTV+, streaming now
Apple's answer to Bridgerton (but with bonus Americans) is here with its second season.

This time, Phil visits Amsterdam, Tbilisi, Sydney, Adelaide, Manila, Vegas, Guatemala, San Sebastián and Boston, while enjoying a spot of bone gnawing with Ray Romano and Brad Garrett along the way.
The Many Deaths of Nora Dalmasso Netflix, streaming now
She wasn't rich, famous, or part of the swinger set. Rather 'a symbol of what happens to those who stray from the patriarchal mould'. In other unsolved murder documentaries on Netflix, we have I'm Your Venus.

John Giles' family life with wife and children as he retires from punditry

John Giles has called time on his career as a pundit. The Ireland football legend has graced Irish screens and airways for many decades, being respected as one of the best analysts in the land. The ex-Leeds United ace was a mainstay of RTE's football analysis from the 1980s until he stepped away from TV work in 2016. He has been a key component of Newstalk's football coverage for more than twenty years, and on Off The Ball on Thursday night, he reflected on his career analysing the game's top players. He said: "I was really lucky. I fell into the television. Eamon [Dunphy] helped me a lot in that. "When you're doing the job I was trying to do, you have to watch all the matches. You can't make it up as you go along. "I think it got to the stage where I was getting a bit stale trying to watch as many matches as I could and it became hard work. "Football has never been hard work to me, I have always loved it but there are so matches. "Even in the summer now, you see the teams over in America [for the Club World Cup]. "I have had a good run of it. I am 84, nearly 85. "I have enjoyed it. I loved playing. I fell into to the television, I had no intention of doing that when I was actually playing the football. "No complaints whatsoever." Here's everything you need to know about the football great: John Giles was born in Dublin on November 1940 and is 84 years old. He kicked off his career with Manchester United, making over 100 appearances for the Red Devils before moving to Leeds United. During his time in Manchester, he bagged an FA Cup and then had a remarkable run with Leeds under Don Revie, where he clinched two First Division titles, an FA Cup, and a League Cup. He also made it into the PFA Team of the Year. His English playing days concluded with West Brom, followed by a brief stint with Philadelphia Fury, and finally ended his playing days with Shamrock Rovers, securing an FAI Cup. Giles tied the knot with his wife Anne way back in 1966. She is the sister of former Irish sprinter Paul Dolan. The couple have four sons and two daughters together. Two of Giles' sons previously played for Shamrock Rovers. His sister Kay was married to England World Cup winner Nobby Stiles. Giles first graced the RTE airwaves in 1986, marking the start of a highly respected broadcasting career. He remained a fixture for the national broadcaster for three decades, signing off after Euro 2016. He still worked for Off The Ball until announcing his retirement on June 26, 2025.

Brad Pitt's €4.6m home 'ransacked' by burglars

Brad Pitt's home was ransacked by burglars while on a promotional tour for the upcoming F1 movie. Brad stars in the film as former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes, and has been promoting the film abroad ahead of its release in the US on Friday (June 27). However, while travelling overseas to promote the film, a home on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street, believed to be the A-lister's home, was broken into by burglars, according to the LAPD. Pic:LAPD spokesperson, Officer Drake Madison said that police were alerted to an alarm call, finding that the suspects broke in via a front window and rummaged through the home, fleeing with a number of unspecified items. It is not known what was taken during the burglary, and no arrests have been made. An LAPD spokesperson confirmed that the break in occurred at 10.30pm on Wednesday (June 25), but couldn't confirm the identity of the homeowner. It's understood that Brad bought the house in April 2023 for $5.5million (€4.6million). The Chief of Police at the LAPD told NBC News that the reported number of burglaries in 2024 increased by 4% in 2024, but more than half of the homes that were targeted were those of high profile celebs such as Brad. 'These are happening very quickly,' Dominic Choi, Chief of Police with the LAPD, said. ' We're not seeing the entire house being ransacked. These individuals that are conducting these high-end burglaries know what they're looking for, and they're in and out in a few minutes.' Brad is currently in London promoting the movie, which is when the burglars reportedly struck. Pic: Stuart Hardy/ Brad plays nomadic racer for hire and former F1 driver Sonny Hayes in the drama about Formula 1 driving, which also stars Irish actress Kerry Condon as well as F1 legends such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez.
