HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Attends Launch of Toastmasters DTAC 2025 in Bahrain

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust and Chairman of the Labour Fund, the Kingdom of Bahrain officially inaugurated the District 20 Annual Toastmasters Conference (DTAC 2025) on Thursday evening. The ceremony, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama, was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
DTAC 2025, organized under the theme 'Echoes of Excellence,' is a collaborative initiative between Toastmasters organizations from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Iraq. The event, which runs from May 22 to 24, brings together more than 2,000 participants from 115 Toastmasters clubs across the region, covering both Arabic and English-speaking communities.
The opening ceremony began with the Bahraini National Anthem and a short film celebrating the history and growth of the Toastmasters movement in Bahrain. In his address, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa underscored the importance of hosting such a prestigious event in the Kingdom. He emphasized that the conference reflects Bahrain's commitment to nurturing young talent in leadership and communication, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
His Highness further expressed his pride in Bahrain's role as a platform for youth development and wished the participants every success in their endeavors throughout the conference.
Toastmaster Younis Abdul Aal, Chairperson of DTAC 2025, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the event's focus on equipping Arab youth with leadership and public speaking skills through workshops, competitions, and educational sessions. He noted that DTAC 2025 would feature internationally recognized speakers and champions, offering diverse and inclusive learning opportunities for attendees.
Echoing this message, Toastmaster Yasser Al-Qashar, Director of Sector 20, emphasized the vital role that such conferences play in empowering the region's youth. He pointed to the Kingdom's longstanding support for initiatives that cultivate creativity, innovation, and leadership among young people.
During the event, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa honored the partners, supporters, and organizing committee members of the conference. A commemorative gift was also presented to His Highness in recognition of his support and presence.
As the largest event on the Toastmasters calendar in the region, DTAC 2025 is set to host a series of competitive speech contests, leadership development sessions, and public speaking workshops. The conference continues through May 24 and serves as a hub for aspiring leaders to connect, grow, and showcase their talents on an international stage.

Serving up a softer, more contemplative side of their signature Afro-Khaleeji sound, Bahraini fusionists Majaz have released the fourth single from their upcoming EP. Titled Aini, the song dropped on July 25 and introduces a sonic shift for the group, which is known for its energetic, upbeat rhythms. Built around the term of endearment 'aini' which translates in Arabic to 'my eyes' or 'my beloved' and is commonly used across Khaleeji dialects, the track embodies compassion and empathy. 'This song reveals a different side of Majaz,' the band's guitarist Hameed AlSaeed told GulfWeekly. 'It highlights the more chill vibe of our Afro-Khaleeji sounds. 'Musically, it stands in contrast to the rest of the EP, which is much more energetic.' The lyrics in Aini serve a dual purpose. On the surface, they appear as a heartfelt conversation with a loved one. But beneath that is a broader commentary on the gradual erosion of deep human connection in the digital age. The double meanings throughout the song make it relatable on multiple levels, whether listeners interpret it as a love ballad or a reflection on modern disconnection. 'The song sheds light on the importance of human connection in a world where real, deep human interactions are becoming increasingly scarce, gradually losing their significance and weight amidst the ever-evolving ways through which the age of information shapes the way we communicate,' Hameed explained. In keeping with the band's commitment to preserving and evolving Khaleeji musical heritage, Aini incorporates 'Sawt Shami', a rhythmic pattern rooted in 'Fann As-Sawt', an urban art form that has played a significant role in Gulf music for centuries. While the band often experiments with Khaleeji rhythmic foundations, the use of 'Sawt Shami' in this track signals a deliberate nod to 'one of the timeless pillars of Khaleeji musical heritage', repackaged in a modern aesthetic. 'The song was written in mid-2022 and we have also played it live in many of our shows, where it got shaped into the final version,' bassist Salah Alawi added. 'The challenge was testing the song couple of times in front of the audience before hitting the studio.' The single follows Ya Lala (a vocable commonly used in Khaleeji culture and music as a display of joy and care-free sentiments), Heila Hei (a generational Bahraini phrase with no particular linguistic meaning), and Ala Wain (Arabic for 'to where'), which have received praise for their creative fusion of genres. Like its predecessors, Aini will be part of Majaz's upcoming and as-yet-unnamed five-track EP, which is expected to be released by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Made up of Bahrainis Hameed, Salah, cellist Jehad Al Halal, and Saudi percussionist Abdulla Faisal, the quartet is currently planning shows across the region. Aini is now streaming on all major platforms.

The Manufacturing Sector Skills Report sheds light on labor market trends, skills in demand and emerging jobs in the manufacturing sector, it also highlights the significant transformation in the skills landscape, driven by the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. Among the most in-demand roles in the sector are Research and Development Scientists, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Experts, Materials Engineers, and Digital Transformation Specialists, along with other fast-growing jobs. The report also underscores the importance of mastering technical skills such as Data Analysis and Big Data Management, Machine Operation, and project management, reflecting the growing need to develop national talent capable of meeting the evolving demands of the manufacturing sector. Tamkeen's support for the Benefit Company is aligned with its strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labour market and private sector. On this occasion, Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) reaffirmed Tamkeen's ongoing commitment to enabling Bahrainis attain high-quality jobs in key economic sectors.
