Is Kayvon Thibodeaux Actually a Trade Candidate?
Once Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter became the leading candidate to be the New York Giants' first-round pick, general manager Joe Schoen's first selection in East Rutherford found himself in the rumor mill.
Edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux hasn't yet lived up to his draft capital, and now that Carter is the Giants' newest star, he – as the third-best edge rusher on the roster – is expendable.

That doesn't mean New York will budge. The Giants need to look somewhat competitive in 2025, and one can never have too many pass rushers. It already moved to secure Thibodeaux's spot in its plans, too. In accepting his fifth-year option, Thibodeaux is movable, but he's much more movable in 2026, where he'd provide $14.75 million in cap relief with no dead cap charge.
Even so, the Giants edge rusher was listed as a trade candidate for two NFC teams in Bleacher Report's trade big board.
'Carter has the potential to be a franchise-caliber sack artist, while the Giants gave Burns a five-year, $141 million extension after trading for him,' Kristopher Knox wrote. 'Thibodeaux, the fifth overall pick in 2022, could end up being the odd man out of New York's long-term plans.
'Now would be a great time for teams to inquire about Thibodeaux's availability. He's coming off an injury-impacted season (wrist), but he had 11.5 sacks in 2023 and won't turn 25 until December.'

Thibodeaux has first-round pedigree to his name, has embraced the arrival of Carter, and has pass-rushing peripherals that are more encouraging than his questionable sack totals. There's every chance he gets better in Year 4, and with so much talent around him, those odds are probably better than they were before the draft.
Knox listed two NFC teams, the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers, as landing spots for Thibodeaux's services. While it wouldn't necessarily impact a potential swap, the Giants will host Green Bay at some point this season.
'The Carolina Panthers could look to pair Thibodeaux with second-round rookie Nic Scourton and third-round rookie Princely Umanmielen to form an exciting young edge rotation,' Knox wrote. 'Jadeveon Clowney was Carolina's top edge-rusher in 2024, but he turned 32 in February.
'The Packers, who didn't add edge help until taking Barryn Sorrell in Round 4, should also see if Thibodeaux can be had. Perhaps they could acquire him for a package that includes Jaire Alexander.'

Thibodeaux makes sense as a trade candidate for several teams. Outside of being a surplus, he makes far less sense for New York to deal in 2025.

Bijan Robinson Makes Announcement on 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
Bijan Robinson Makes Announcement on 2028 Los Angeles Olympics originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For the first time in the historic sporting event's history, flag football will be a part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Advertisement In addition to flag football joining sports such as baseball/softball, cricket, lacrosse and squash as the new sports being added, the other exciting news around the flag football aspect is that NFL players were given the stamp of approval to play by the owners in a 32-0 vote back in May. While many fans have begun speculating who will or won't play, some notable stars have seemingly made decisions already. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and three-time Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes, seemed to have passed on the opportunity. Meanwhile, four-time All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson made it clear he hopes to rep the Stars and Stripes. On Monday, former Texas Longhorns star and current Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson revealed that he would be interested in playing. "I think it's awesome," Robinson told the media. "All it does is grow the game a lot. I think for me like, I grew up playing flag football and that was my offseason game was flag and 7-on-7. So, you know I feel like it's always an honor to play for your country, like you always wanna play for your country. And I would love to show my skill set on that type of stage." Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson staring at the Hartline-Imagn Images While Robinson admitted he would like to play, he did acknowledge that there are athletes out there who specialize in the sport. He also said that scheduling will play a major role in whether he and other NFL stars can play, along with the NFL teams actually allowing players to play in them. Advertisement Regardless, he doubled down on wanting to play. "I would love to play in that game if given the opportunity," Robinson said. "But obviously, we'll see. I don't want it to affect my team and what we got going on here." This past season, Robinson rushed for 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding 61 catches for 431 yards and a score. Assuming the 23-year-old is healthy when the Olympics roll around, it's hard to imagine there is a more shifty and elusive option than him. Bears' Rookie Wide Receiver Has Reaction to Packers' Jaire Alexander News
Bears' Rookie Wide Receiver Has Reaction to Packers' Jaire Alexander News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Green Bay Packers began the start of mini-camp with a huge move within the roster on Monday morning. Advertisement Long-time Packers' cornerback and two-time Second-Team All-Pro Jaire Alexander has been released from the team. It was an interesting move that was made by the Packers, as Alexander was still under contract until 2026 after he signed a four-year, $84 million extension with the team in 2022. Green Bay has shown that they are ready to move on from Alexander after he's played in just 14 games in the past two seasons combined. Advertisement In this case, Bears second-round pick Luther Burden won't ever have to face Jaire Alexander twice in a single season. Burden decided to trash-talk Alexander after his release, commenting "Uh oh" on the NFL's Instagram post. Burden is set to begin his first year in the NFL after being drafted with the No. 39 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of the University of Missouri. In three seasons at Missouri, he contributed 192 receptions, 2,263 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns for the Tigers. Now, Burden will be joining the Chicago Bears' wide receiver room along with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze to give second-year quarterback and 2024 No. 1 pick Caleb Williams another option to throw to. Advertisement Although Luther Burden has huge potential to be another great wide receiver in the league, it's interesting to see a rookie talking smack to an NFL veteran before taking his first ever snap. Aaron Rodgers Fuels Marriage Rumors with Ring Seen in Steelers Contract Photo
Aaron Rodgers continues to fuel rumors that he is married The NFL star can be seen wearing a dark-colored band on his left ring finger in a photo celebrating his new contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers The photo comes after Rodgers revealed in April that he was in a "serious relationship"Aaron Rodgers is once again sparking rumors that he is married. After previously making several public outings wearing what appeared to be a wedding ring on his left hand, the NFL star appeared in a new photo sporting a dark-colored band on his left ring finger. On Saturday, June 7, the NFL and the Steelers shared the photo in a joint Instagram post celebrating Rodgers' new contract with the Pittsburgh team. "Officially official ✍️," the two football organizations captioned the post. The photo shows Rodgers, 41, smiling as he rested his left hand on the paper contract and held a pen in his other hand. He repped his new team by wearing a black cap with a yellow Steelers logo. According to CBS Sports, the quarterback inked a one-year deal worth $13.65 million, $10 million of which is guaranteed. Rodgers first revealed in December 2024 that he was dating a woman named Brittani while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show. At the time, he was discussing how he had shifted from mall shopping for Christmas gifts to ordering them online. 'There was one package left for my girlfriend Brittani that hadn't showed up yet,' he said, casually dropping his relationship status. 'I was waiting on this to show up, it showed up today.' A.J. Hawk, McAfee's co-host and Rodgers' former Green Bay Packers teammate, then jokingly asked, 'Spears?' prompting Rodgers to clarify, "Not Brittany Spears, no, this is Brittani with an 'i.' " He also noted that Brittani does not have social media. Later in the conversation, when McAfee suggested that Rodgers was "in love" with Brittani, the athlete smiled and declared, "It's a good feeling, boys. It is." Months later, during another appearance on the show on April 17, Rodgers shared that he was in "a serious relationship" and his priorities were shifting. "I'm in a different phase of my life," he explained. "I'm 41 years old, I'm in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I made not knowing what my future was going to look like after last year, that are important to me." Rodgers first ignited rumors that he had gotten married when he stepped out to the annual Barnstable Gala last month, on the eve of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, sporting a new accessory — a dark-colored band that appears to be the same one seen in the recent contract-signing photo. So far, Rodgers has remained mum on the marriage speculation. However, his friend Hawk appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on May 6 and admitted that even he was confused by Rodgers' ring. "No update from this situation," he said, adding, "Surprisingly enough, I did not press him on this." "To tell you the truth, I don't know if I have any answers on that situation. He's very private and mysterious when it comes to things like that, and this is definitely one of those, for sure," Hawk added. The former linebacker also noted that his friend "seems very happy" these days while reiterating, "But not a lot of clarity on this situation, I'm not going to lie." Rodgers was previously engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. The pair ended their relationship in April 2022. Read the original article on People
