Zak Starkey Now Says That He Was 'Retired' by The Who
Usually, it's the employee that does the retiring, but in the case of Zak Starkey and The Who, it appears that the band 'retired' the drummer. Starkey has offered new insight into his recent firing, re-hiring, and re-firing from the legendary rock act, saying that singer Roger Daltrey insisted that Starkey wasn't 'fired,' but 'retired.'

In a new Instagram post on Monday (May 26th), Starkey noted that he had a confusing conversation with Daltrey at the end of last week. The drummer explained that it was not his decision to part ways with The Who ahead of the band's upcoming North American farewell tour, despite the singer's insistence on using the word 'retired.' His full post reads as follows:
'NOISE&CONFUSION!!!! I had a great phone chat with Roger at the end of last week which truly confused both of us!!! Rog said I hadn't been 'fired'…I had been 'retired' to work n my own projects. I explained to Rog that I have just spent nearly 8 weeks at my studio in Jamaica completing these projects, that my group Mantra Of The Cosmos was releasing one single at the beginning of June and after that had run its course ( usually 5/6 weeks ) I was completely available for the foreseeable future….Rog said 'Oh!' and we kind of left it there- On good terms and great friends as we have always been. Gotta love these guys. As my mum used to say 'The mind boggles!!!' XXX'
As previously reported, Starkey was initially fired from The Who in April after the band experienced a few hiccups during its performance at the Teenage Cancer Trust benefit show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He was then quickly reinstated, with guitarist Pete Townshend blaming 'communication issues' behind the firing. However, Starkey was then re-fired earlier this month, and replaced by Daltrey's solo drummer Scott Devours.
The Who are set to embark on their absolute final North American tour from mid August through late September, with tickets available here. Among the support acts are Billy Idol, Feist, The Joe Perry Project, Billy Bob Thornton, and more.

Jake Paul to face lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis on Nov. 14
Jake Paul will face Gervonta "Tank" Davis in a boxing match on Nov. 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Netflix announced Wednesday. The bout is expected to be the biggest test to date for Paul, a social media star with 28 million followers on Instagram and 21 million followers on YouTube. Paul (12-1) became a professional boxer in January 2020 and has impressed despite limited experience in the ring. He has faced criticism for his competition, however. Most of his opponents have been nonboxers — a former NBA Slam Dunk champion in Nate Robinson, and MMA fighters like Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Mike Perry. He beat a 59-year-old Mike Tyson, and his lone loss came to boxer Tommy Fury, the half-brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Paul, 28, is coming off a unanimous decision against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June. Davis is without question Paul's most heralded opponent. The 30-year-old WBA lightweight champion is one of the sport's top talents, amassing a 30-0-1 record. Though he stands just 5-foot-5, Davis is known for his vicious punching power and has 28 knockouts in his career. He most recently retained his belt with a majority decision draw against Lamond Roach Jr. in March. Davis' boxing career was in jeopardy after he was arrested on July 11 in an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend. According to the Miami-Dade County Clerk's Office, a misdemeanor battery charge against Davis was dropped. Paul vs. Davis is the latest boxing match promoted by Netflix as it gets more involved in live sports. Paul's bout with Tyson last November, for example, peaked at 65 million streams, according to the streaming service. Netflix is also promoting Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 13, and has WWE Raw and multiple NFL games on Christmas Day. Not everyone in the boxing world is happy Paul vs. Davis is happening. Ryan Garcia, a former WBC interim lightweight champion who lost to Davis in 2023, wrote on social media that "boxing is officially the WWE … integrity of the sport is getting ruined every day."

Ever since the two self-eliminated on the latest episode of Bachelor in Paradise season 10, fans have been trying to figure out whether the couple is still going I'm sorry to say that things aren't looking good for them. I was incredibly excited about our relationship. I couldn't wait to get back to Tampa—' but! Good news for fans of kids' TV shows. Paris Hilton is set to release a new animated series about a girl called Paris and her puppies, aptly titled Paris & Pups. The trailer was released today, and it's exactly what you'd expect. Check it out below. Paris & Pups drops on YouTube in September, from Paris Hilton It's safe to assume that it's no rags to riches story. The show follows the adventures of Paris Star, a 12-year-old girl who lives in the penthouse of the 'The Fabuluxe Hotel' with her five canine friends. Unsurprisingly, it draws its inspiration from Paris' own life. But as they say, stick to what you know. Indeed, Paris' own net worth is estimated to be around $300 million. The Hilton family (including mom Kathy Hilton) are worth over $14 billion dollars. 'I'm beyond excited to finally share Paris & Pups with the world. The series is set in a glamorous hotel full of sparkle, adventure and heart — a place that feels like home to me after growing up in hotels and making them my playground,' said Paris (via People), who also recorded the show's theme song. Paris and Pups is being produced by Paris' own media company, 11:11 Media, in partnership with 9 Story Media Group and HappyNest Entertainment. A cutesy kids' show seems like a bit of an unlikely move for Paris. Could it be that motherhood has softened the famously hard-edged star? She and husband Carter Reum welcomed two children via surrogacy in 2023.
