GRILL POWER: Raid cupboards for ingredients that will shift grime stuck to grills.
Try pouring a little beer over a heated grill and the acid will loosen dirt, so you can scrub it off.
Onions also work wonders thanks to their natural acids. Just cut in half and rub across grates.
And lemons are also powerful at cutting through grease. Again, just cut in half and rub over the metal.
A tough wire brush is ideal for scrubbing grime and grease off the grates. But rather than buy one, you can use aluminium foil screwed into a ball.
STAIN OR SHINE: For stains that are tougher to budge — and if you have a barbecue with a lid — grab some vinegar and mix with equal part water.
Then pour the solution on a metal tray and heat up the barbecue.
Close the lid and leave for around 15 minutes. The steam should loosen the grime.
Or before heating, you can mix up a paste of bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar and let it sit on the grills for at least 30 minutes.
Then scrub off with warm soapy water.
Proper temperatures for perfectly cooked meats
BRING TO RUST: If your barbecue has been sitting outside and developed rust patches, you can also use the same bicarbonate and vinegar paste and apply to these areas to help clean it up.
After using your barbecue, try rubbing a light layer of vegetable oil across the grills and other areas to help prevent rust in the future.

DEBT CHANGE My spending was out of control until I made easy change everyone can do – it helped me pay off £9k debt on £9k salary Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) OPENING her credit card statements Jo Beevers feels sick. She knew she had a problem with impulsive spending but she had never faced up to it, until now. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Jo Beevers, 46, got her spending under control with an easy trick anyone can do The 46-year-old, who lives near Chester, had always been in debt and was stuck in a constant cycle of doing 0% balance transfers. But going from a full-time job as an medical conditions and injury rehabilitation manager in a gym earning £30,000 to a working as a registrar 16 hours a week earning £9,000, Jo had no option but to stop hiding from it all and gain control. Jo said: 'I had £9,099.82 of credit card and overdraft debt and when I looked at where that money had been going, I felt ashamed. 'My spending was reckless because the money didn't feel real and I treated shopping like a hobby even though I was skint.' In 2018 Jo's "you only live once" outlook on money saw her buy a Volkswagen Up! for £9,000 while her husband, who works in IT, was away. And after a boozy lunch popped into Boots and spent £300 on perfumes she didn't need. Amazon parcels turned up every day and she even had a monthly delivery of two bottles of champagne from its Subscribe and Save service. Jo said: "It was ridiculous. If I had to hand over £80 in cash for two bottles of champagne every month I wouldn't have done it. 'But because it all went on the credit card, I didn't think about it. I knew I was bad but I could always justify my spending." Done with feeling guilty, stressed and worried about her mounting debt Jo stuffed her credit cards in a drawer and was ruthless in cancelling everything that was non-essential. I racked up £15k debt - here's how I paid it off as a single mum Then, she made one major change, at the beginning of every month she physically took out the remaining money after bills and groceries. Jo created a tracker and, in the beginning, divided the cash into different envelopes but it wasn't as easy as she thought and became overwhelmed. Jo said: 'I made loads of mistakes in the first three months by thinking the money could go further than it did. 'I created too many envelopes and the money couldn't stretch as far as I wanted it to.' Giving up temporarily, Jo worked through the overwhelm of emotions and prioritised where her money should be going and got herself back on track. She said: "Holding the money changed how I thought about it, it made it feel real. 'I had sections for debt, achievable savings goals and for non-essential spending. "Once I'd figured it out it was easy. It's so visual, it works for my mind.' Determined to pay off her debt and to keep on track, Jo created fun trackers to gamify her savings and to keep her motivated. She shared her journey on social media as @Cashbudgetbee and her trackers caught the eye of her followers. Stumbling on another way of topping up her part-time income, Jo began selling them on Etsy which has made £2,000 in the last 12 months. Jo said: 'I never thought it possible to find a way of making some extra money from my own debt clearing journey. 'But it made me feel normal to know that there were other people out there just like me.' Staying motivated was hard that's why she made the videos to share with her followers. When Jo hit a milestone, she popped into M&S and bought some champagne to treat herself, but a £22 one instead of a £40 bottle. But it can be a slippery slope, and the entrepreneurial mum, had to reign herself in. She said: 'It starts with one thing and then you're going back into old habits. And you go, 'Oh no I'm not debt free yet.'' Eighteen months on and Jo made her final payment on her credit card and if that wasn't enough, she also went into Christmas 2024 with money saved. She said: 'Being debt free is amazing, I'm the happiest I've ever been. Having money to spend at Christmas, rather than relying on credit cards was a great feeling.' But while she's riding high on clearing her debts, Jo doesn't feel like she can relax her new routine. She said: 'It really does worry me that I'll slip back as I've got 30 years-worth of spending habits to break. 'I've noticed some of my old shopping habits are sneaking back in. On Valentine's Day I didn't put anything in the budget as we hadn't planned anything. 'Then the day before I was online and putting all sorts in my basket, thankfully I was able to recognise what I was doing and stopped. All I can do is to keep trying.' Jo is giving herself new challenges to keep the momentum going and recently created an e-book sharing her own journey which she's already made £180 from.

I tested three of the best SPF lip balms that can be reapplied with ease on sunny days – one is a real treat

I ADORE tinted lip balms, but SPF is essential on these sunny days, so I've swapped my two-in-one for a longwear lip liner, followed by a clear SPF lip balm that I can reapply with ease. These are three of the best. BUDGET E45 Protection Lip Balm SPF30, £7.99 for 10ml, E45 was a staple in my family growing up, so it's a brand I trust implicitly – even if it's not always the prettiest on the shelf. When E45 launched suncare last year, I was pleasantly surprised with how sophisticated the formulas were, and this new lip balm is no different. With vitamin E, squalane and shea butter, it really packs a punch to repair chapped lips and keep them hydrated all year round, and the SPF 30 is an added bonus. It's also fragrance-free, which is great news for anyone with sensitive skin that irritates easily. MID-RANGE KIKO Milano Sun Protection Lip Balm SPF 50, £12.99 for 4.8g, This is my absolute go-to if I'm on holiday somewhere hotter than the UK or if I'm going to be in the sun all day, as it's one of the only lip balms I've found with full SPF 50 protection. I love the translucent bullet – it reminds me of my favourite SPF stick, and the added hyaluronic acid and vitamin E ingredients keep my lips hydrated for hours. Although, I try to remember to reapply at least once an hour, especially if I'm eating or drinking, to ensure they are protected against sun damage. This is also the shiniest of all three products here, without being gloopy. The Inkey List has launched new tinted lip balms, and they have saved my dry lips this summer LUXURY Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15, £23, There's something so nostalgic about the scent of Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour products, so I always enjoy applying this lip balm, and have used it for years. It goes on smoothly, and leaves a subtle sheen that feels super-hydrating – but it's not at all shiny like a gloss or an oil. My one gripe is the Factor 15 protection – I wish it were higher. But to make up for it, I apply a few layers, and top up more regularly. There aren't many luxurious SPF lip balms on the market, so this is a real treat.

Popular brand launches holiday-inspired perfumes and one is like 'sunshine in a bottle'

The inclusive fashion house has tried their hand at personal fragrance and we've got our hands on them Popular high street retailer Never Fully Dressed is best known for their stylish ensembles, but now, the growing brand has dipped it's toe into new territory with it's first foray into fragrance. It's a smart move, and a 'natural next step' for the retailer, seeing as we have to agree that no outfit is complete without a spritz of perfume. As such, Never Fully Dressed has released two stand out scents that come in both a wearable perfume and candle form. Both scents, named 001 and 002, have been inspired by the Balearic Islands, making them ideal picks for summer. Speaking on the launch, NFD founder Lucy Aylen said: 'Our community has always inspired how we create - and scent was the natural next step, we wanted to bottle up that feeling of empowerment, connection, and freedom you get on a European holiday. Whether it's morning espresso in the sun or dancing barefoot under the stars - these scents bring the story to life.' Shoppers 'stop using shower gel' thanks to new 'favourite' that 'smells better' Olivia Attwood's 'stunning' initial necklace that 'goes with everything' is on sale Naturally, our scent enthusiasts, perfume expert Jada Jones and former Boots fragrance counter employee Bethan Shufflebotham couldn't wait to try them out. For fans of Jazz Club and Tobacco Vanille, 001 is probably the way to go. It combines spices like saffron, cinnamon and black pepper with coffee, rum, sandalwood and oud for something perfect for cooler months. Meanwhile, those who prefer a fruitier fragrance that lends itself to sunny days, the raspberry-forward 002 could be the perfect alternative to scents like Jo Malone Raspberry Ripple or Mugler's Angel Nova. Jada tried 001 I was very nervous when I saw what notes were in this perfume as I typically avoid saffron, oud and tobacco in my own perfumes. Any nerves I had were quickly squashed as soon as I first sprayed it from the bottle. Although I definitely lean more to classically feminine fragrances and this one is undeniably unisex, there's a sultry vibe to it that makes it quite pleasant. I think it's on the heavier side for summer but can see this being a hit this autumn. It would be such a great date night scent and there's the added bonus that it smells a lot more expensive than it is. The bottle is also a stunning addition to any collection. I found it easily lasts six hours on my skin and didn't need topping up, it might have the potential to last longer although I've not noticed that yet. This would make a great gift and has the added benefit of leaning unisex so it's easy to share with loved ones. I'm curious to see where this range goes. Bethan tried 002 I can't talk about this perfume without first mentioning the absolutely gorgeous bottle. It comes in an amber vessel with a pink marble effect lid, which I think I could repurpose as a little candlestick holder when I'm through with the scent. It looks stunning on display on a dressing table, which means I find myself reaching for it more frequently than the bottles I have stashed in a drawer, too, so I've no doubt I'll get through this fast. If the packaging wasn't joyful enough, then comes the fragrance itself, which really is like sunshine in a bottle. It's not your classic Sol de Janeiro kind of holiday scent, but really offers up something a little bit different and unique. When you first spray it, you get a fresh, juicy hit of raspberry with a little spicy kick from pink pepper - it's bright and uplifting so you feel instantly awake and the juxtaposition between the two notes is lovely. After a few minutes, it softens into a mix of fresh greens and florals thanks to the jasmine and cedar leaf. It's still light, but feels a bit more grown-up and polished. Then as it dries down, the scent turns warmer and more addictive, with vanilla, amber and patchouli. While the fragrance is distinctly a day-time scent, it's these final notes which make it great for layering for an evening vibe. It costs £69 for the 100ml, however, those looking just to try it out can get the 10ml for £19 - ideal for travelling - however, you don't then get the benefit of the beautiful bottle.
