Man further jailed for attack on officer at HMP Berwyn
The 30-year-old had previously admitted intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at HMP Berwyn.
He was serving a 12-year sentence for setting fire to two buildings in Newport city centre.
Amy Edwards, prosecuting, said the incident, which was captured on CCTV, occurred on July 7 last year. Phil Roberts, a prison officer, was alerted to an alarm activated from the cell occupied by the defendant.
When Mr Roberts attended the cell and opened the door, Price attempted to barge past him - pushing him with such force that the key chain snapped on the door.
Price then grabbed Mr Roberts by the throat with both hands - pushing his thumbs into his neck. At this point, they were both in the floor and the defendant had Mr Roberts in a "headlock".
Other prison officers came to Mr Roberts' aid, and shouted to the defendant to let go - but he refused. As two officers attempted to pull Price off Mr Roberts, he "tensed up" and tightened his grip. The court heard that the officers said Mr Roberts was "losing colour" in his face.
Eventually the defendant loosened his grip and Mr Roberts was able to break free. He was left with a cut to his arm from the key chain breaking - which left a scar. He also had reddening to the neck area.
The court heard that Price, who was unrepresented at the sentencing hearing, was serving a prison sentence of 12 years after being convicted in 2018 of two counts of arson with intent to endanger life and three counts of threat to kill.
Judge Timothy Petts described it as a "sustained" attack, and sentenced Price to a further two years to his existing jail term.

Boy, 6, fighting for life after liver ruptured by woman on water park slide
A six-year-old boy has been left in intensive care after he was hit in the chest by a woman as his father ignored warnings and carried him across the front of a water slide exit A young boy and his family have had what was supposed to be a fun day out turn into a nightmare when a women hurtling down a slide crashed straight into him. Six-year-old Gleb was having fun in the pool in a water park in St Petersburg, Russia, he had just come off another ride and his dad was carrying him across the water. But disaster struck, when from a separate slide a woman's feet smashed into his chest. Gleb's dad seemingly ignored all the safety warnings and whistles from lifeguards, walking in front of the exits of the slides when the unsuspecting woman hit the boy. The shocking moment was captured on CCTV and it showed the moment the woman struck him at the Rodeo Drive Water Park while his father held him in front of the slide just before the impact. It comes after a dad dies in scalding hot bath as family slam hotel management for 'ignoring warnings'. After the incident the boy was rushed to hospital and taken to the intensive care unit after suffering 'a rupture of the left lobe of his liver and internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity'. Russian authorities have begun investigating the incident and have opened a criminal case after the severity of his injuries. The case is focusing blame on the boy's father who dragged him across the water, rather than the woman who had no idea what was about to happen. In a statement they said: 'After sliding down into the pool, the child was picked up by his father, who began walking towards the exit from the slide area, 'Despite warnings from water park staff about the potential danger of a collision with another visitor descending the slide, the man failed to respond. As a result, a collision occurred, and the child sustained bodily injuries and was urgently hospitalised.' The news comes just days after the The UK's biggest indoor water park expressed its "shock" and "sadness" after a little girl died following an incident on Monday, August 4. The girl was found in a critical condition and treated poolside in the Lagoon area of Waterworld in Hanley, but despite the best efforts of staff and paramedics the four-year-old girl was declared dead in hospital. She had been found unconscious at the attraction following the incident, but the circumstances of how she got there are now being investigated. Staffordshire Police are making enquiries and supporting the girl's family along with the waterpark that attracts up to 400,000 visitors every year. A Waterworld spokesperson said yesterday: "It is with great sadness that we learned of this young girl's passing later this evening. All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times."

Timeline of sex toys being thrown onto WNBA courts
Over the past two weeks there have been three incidents during which a sex toy has been thrown on a WNBA court during live game action. The latest incident happened Tuesday night in a game between the Indiana Fever and the Los Angeles Sparks at Arena in L.A. "It's ridiculous, it's dumb, it's stupid," Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said after the game. "It's also dangerous. Player safety is No. 1, respecting the game, all those things. I think it's really stupid." Roberts' reaction is starting to become the norm, especially if the trend continues. Here is a timeline of events: July 29: Valkyries at Dream The first incident occurred on July 29 during the fourth quarter of the Atlanta Dream's game against the Golden State Valkyries at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. A 23-year-old man, Delbert Carver, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure and criminal trespass. Aug. 1: Valkyries at Sky During the Valkyries' game against the Sky at Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Aug. 1, another sex toy was thrown onto the court. Officials stopped play when the toy was heaved from the stands and landed by a baseline near the Sky's basket. An official kicked the toy away, and a Sky staffer quickly removed it. Aug. 5: Fever at Sparks With two minutes remaining in the second quarter of Tuesday's game, a sex toy landed on the court in the lane near Fever forward Sophie Cunningham, who earlier in the week went on social media to plead with fans not to throw things on the floor and posted another reaction after the game. Sparks guard Kelsey Plum kicking it into the stands. WNBA response to sex toys being thrown during games Each WNBA team has policies and security procedures about what spectators can and cannot bring into a specific arena. The league strongly encourages fans not to bring bags into venues, and every bag that is allowed within certain specifications is subject to search. The arenas also have an extensive list of what is allowed in arenas, with the obvious items such as weapons, fireworks, hazardous items, and tools being prohibited. The WNBA has issued warnings against any fan throwing objects on the court, saying violators would be "immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban," and could face charges from authorities. "The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league," the WNBA said in a statement. "Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans. In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities."
