Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen meet up in Liverpool during flying visit to LIPA
The pair were visiting Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) on Mount Street, which Macca co-founded.
Springsteen, 75, has made no secret of his admiration for the Fab Four, crediting the Beatles with heavily shaping his musical tastes, and he h's described performing on Merseyside as the fulfilment of a long-held dream.
Members of the E-Street band Max Weinberg and Steven Van Zandt were also spotted making their way into LIPA through the crowds outside, all of which has fuelled wild speculation about whether Sir Paul will join Bruce on stage at Saturday night's concert.
If he does it would not be the first time the pair have played together, with Springsteen joining Sir Paul on stage as a special guest during the 82-year-old's headline set at Glastonbury Festival in 2022.
They also met up for additional gigs at Hyde Park and at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Growing up as a teenager in New Jersey as the Beatles took the USA by storm with a legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, The Boss told audiences at Anfield: "It is great for us to be in Liverpool where, for us, it all began."
As an additional nod to the Beatles he performed a version of Twist and Shout in the encore.
Originally sung by The Top Notes the classic became synonymous with The Beatles when they released a cover version in 1963, and Springsteen has often played it on live shows previously.
However, Wednesday's performance was just the second time the song has featured on the Land Of Hope and Dreams tour setlist so far.
The power of the iconic venue itself was not lost on the American star, referencing Liverpool FC 's Premier League title win this season as he told the crowd: "'Come on! Is this the house of champions or what?''
Never afraid to speak his mind, the Boss also continued his war of words with President Donald Trump.
Before he opened the show with My Love Will Not Let You Down, he said: "The America I love and have sung to you about for so long, a beacon of hope for 250 years, is currently in hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.
"Tonight we ask all of you who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices, stand with us against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!'
Before Rainmaker, he said: "When conditions in a country are ripe for a demagogue, you can bet one will show up. This is for America's dear leader."
Ahead of House of A Thousand Guitars, he said: 'The last check on power, after the checks and balances have failed, are the people. That's all that's left.
"It's in the union of people around a common set of values. That's all that stands between democracy and authoritarianism.

Both Hopkins and Foster bagged Oscar awards for their performances, with Hopkins scooping the Best Leading Actor award and Foster clinching the Best Leading Actress accolade at the 1992 ceremony. It also nabbed the coveted Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay awards. And the film remains a hit with fans with many describing it as a "masterpiece" and a timeless classic". The popular choice will be available to stream on BBC Two on Sunday evening (August 17), as well as BBC iPlayer. It is currently available to buy on prime Video. A synopsis reads: "FBI trainee Clarice Starling, enticing insights from confined killer Hannibal Lecter, shares her nightmare memory in the hope of stopping a serial killer before his latest victim dies. Multi-award-winning thriller." With an impressive score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, one person said: "A complete masterpiece throughout the ages." Another commented: "Definitely a classic. During his time out of the spotlight, Lewis has been going to therapy to learn how to manage his Tourette's, with which he was diagnosed in September 2022. He's also overhauled his physical health, having drastically reduced his alcohol intake and switched from antidepressants to antipsychotic medication, which he believes has made a difference. 'It's changed my life,' he said of his new meds. 'My anxiety levels are so low these days. I don't feel the stress.' Celtic fans demand ‘where can I get one?' as South American club release Hoops-inspired kit in homage to Parkhead side
A SOUTH American club have unveiled their new kit inspired by Celtic, with Hoops fans liking what they see. Sharing the latest bit of gear, Sarmiento said in a social media post: "A t-shirt is more than fabric, it connects stories. "In 1968, Sarmiento used a design inspired by Celtic, the European champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "Today, we relaunch that t-shirt to celebrate the union and the Irish legacy in Junín." The launch video shows a man in the Hoops wielding bagpipes, while a voiceover says: "More than a century ago, the Irish community brought work, customs, and a colour that will stay with us forever. "In 1968, Sarmiento decided to wear the green and white jersey like Celtic, European Champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "That shirt became history. Today we wear it again. "A tribute to the Irish community, to our city, to its roots, which are also part of our history." Also shown is a captain's armband in tricolours emblazoned with a shamrock. And some fans of a green and white persuasion are enamoured by this top, wondering how they can get their hands on one. Celtic linked with ANOTHER winger and is Balikwisha a DONE DEAL One wrote 'that's class', while another said it's 'better than what we have and a nice armband'. A fan commented 'I'd buy one of these' while others asked where to do so. But it seems that may not be an easy task, as the club has confirmed an initially limited sale. Sarmiento said: "A beauty. The first units of the new model will be on sale exclusively for members at our stand at the #ExpoJunín. Limited units. "The Sarmiento Athletic Club thanks everyone who made this production possible." One keen Hoops supporter replied in Spanish asking if it would be available for online purchase and delivery to Scotland, but the answer isn't yet known.
