Heart's Nancy Wilson says it's ‘embarrassing' to be an American: ‘I hope I'm alive to see the next revolution'
The Washington-born musician, 71, joined Heart with her sister, Ann, in one of the first major female-fronted hard rock bands in the early Seventies.
Together, they released hit songs including 'Barracuda', 'Crazy on You' and 'Magic Man', receiving multiple Grammy nominations and selling millions of records around the world.
Speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wilson spoke about 'Crazy on You', written with her sister in response to the Vietnam War.
'We were kind of embarrassed at that time to call ourselves American because of the dirty politics of the Vietnam War,' she said, adding: 'To be as subtle as possible, it's more embarrassing now. '
She also quoted a now-infamous remark by US president Donald Trump as she addressed the continuing relevance of their song 'Barracuda', influenced by the misogyny she and her sister experienced during the Seventies.
The song about 'a real sleazeball' was 'even more relevant' now, she said, 'in the salacious billionaire culture with the grab-them-by-the-p***y' mentality'.
Trump made headlines in 2016 after a leaked 1995 recording exposed his lewd comments about women during an Access Hollywood interview.
The then-future president of the United States was caught bragging about his attempts to have sex with a married woman who had rejected him, while insisting he had the right to do 'whatever he wanted' because he was a 'star'.
'You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful… I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait,' he said. 'And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab them by the p****. You can do anything.'
His second term in the White House began with a series of attacks on women's and LGBT+ rights that have continued since his inauguration in January.
'I think for women in the culture the pendulum will come back again, and there'll be another renaissance in the arts to push back against the oppression of the cranky old rich white guys,' Wilson said.
'I hope I am alive to see that next revolution.'

Talks for Paul to face Anthony Joshua collapsed over network issues. Paul's last fight took place at 200 pounds while Davis is a champion at 135." The news quickly sent boxing fans into frenzy. It seemed likely that Anthony Joshua and Paul were set to fight next year. The American has continuously called for a clash with 'AJ.' Earlier this month, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn revealed there was a "very real" chance of the fight happening. As well as that, Paul's business partner Nakisa Bidarian confirmed that a fight looked set to take place in early 2026. "I think we're looking at it happening at the start of 2026. It's public that AJ was taking a little time away, I think he had a little surgery. So once he's ready, and once Jake is ready, we're going to squarely focus on that," he said. "It's a fight that Jake wants to do, and that's a discussion we've had at length, and he feels very confident about where he is in his career and his chances of upsetting Anthony Joshua." The 28-year-old stated that the fight would be contested over 10 three-minute rounds with no restrictions on the rules. "I never really thought Tank was that good, it just took the right fighter to pick him apart to be honest," Paul added. "Someone who had high activity and wasn't afraid of his power. So, I always saw so many holes in his game, to me it wasn't that surprising that someone finally gave him some good work."

Meat-wise, marinated galbi is cut thick, each bite tender but satisfyingly chewy and edged with perfect caramelization. And the pork belly comes in slabs thick enough to sizzle in their own rendered fat. Weekends, this place fills to the brim and when it does, the buzz rises considerably. Time Out Tip: There is an unwritten minimum order. If it's busy and you're not ordering enough per ass-in-seat, you're unintentionally throwing things out of whack, which is tough on the hardworking staff. That's not to say the servers aren't nice or welcoming–they'll take care of you with all the hospitality you could want.
