PM Anwar allocates RM10m for Muar's B40 group in new aid initiative
'I have asked ICU to coordinate this. We will enhance support for the basic needs of the people, especially those from the B40 group. We will approve RM10 million immediately within the next week or two,' Anwar said during the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 Campaign launch at Dataran Tanjung Emas.
The event was attended by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan.
Anwar stressed that the aid aligns with the Unity Government's pledge to inclusive development, rooted in social justice and national unity. He also encouraged Malaysians to display the Jalur Gemilang as a symbol of patriotism.
Post-ceremony, Anwar flagged off the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2025 Convoy, featuring 88 land vehicles and 66 water vessels with over 300 participants. The convoy will traverse 88 checkpoints nationwide, ending at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31 for National Day celebrations. - Bernama

JAPEN expands Jalur Gemilang campaign to industrial sector
PUTRAJAYA: The Information Department (JAPEN), in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), will extend the '1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang' campaign to the industrial sector. This initiative aims to further enliven the spirit of the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. JAPEN's Communications and Community Development Service Division director Muhammad Najmi Mustapha said the collaboration will initially focus on selected petrol stations and supermarkets in the Klang Valley, with implementation set to begin in the near future. 'We (JAPEN) will expand this campaign not only within government agencies but also to the industrial sector, in cooperation with the KPDN,' he said. 'Together with KPDN, we will identify strategic locations such as petrol stations and selected supermarkets for the installation of the Jalur Gemilang,' he told reporters after presenting JAPEN's Jalur Gemilang Kit to the Putrajaya district police headquarters (IPD) here today. Muhammad Najmi said the '1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang' campaign aims to foster a sense of patriotism among the public, while ensuring that the patriotic spirit remains strong, symbolising the pride and unity of an independent nation. He said the campaign commenced following the launch of the 2025 National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign in Muar, Johor on July 27, and will run until Sept 16. 'We are not only carrying out this campaign in Putrajaya, but nationwide through state-level JAPEN offices, with the involvement of 1,878 MADANI Communities across the country, including Sabah and Sarawak,' he said, adding that between 200 and 300 Jalur Gemilang flags will be distributed at each location. Meanwhile, Presint 11 Police Station chief Sub-Inspector Amir Jaafar described the collaborative campaign between JAPEN and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as a meaningful initiative that not only fosters patriotism but also strengthens the relationship between PDRM and other government agencies. He noted that today's programme was highlighted by a symbolic convoy involving PDRM and JAPEN personnel, covering a distance of 6.8 kilometres from the Putrajaya IPD to the Presint 11 Police Station - representing the country's 68 years of independence. Amir added that the spirit of patriotism is clearly evident within the police quarters, as all 48 staff housing units at the Presint 11 Police Station have been proudly displaying the Jalur Gemilang since last month in support of the National Month campaign. - Bernama

MADANI principles guide large-scale housing projects in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: All large-scale housing developments in Malaysia must be guided by the MADANI principles, with particular emphasis on providing essential public infrastructure, including educational facilities, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today. He said that any housing project comprising 3,500 residential units or more must include access to schools, public transport, healthcare facilities, and small business spaces for hawkers. 'I urge serious attention to this. Every project must align with the MADANI principles. If there's a school nearby, parents earning RM3,000 monthly wouldn't need to spend RM300 to RM400 just to send their children to school. This not only reduces transportation costs but also enhances the safety of their children. 'This is what it means to be truly concerned about the people's problems. If a project lacks an education component, say in the case of high-rise housing, developers should allocate several blocks to build vertical schools with dedicated lifts. 'The development cost of these schools would be relatively low, and the Ministry of Education will bear that portion,' Anwar said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Residensi Aman MADANI project in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, here today. Also present were the Prime Minister's wife and Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif. CYBERJAYA: The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) to explore the potential of nuclear energy in Malaysia. Its minister, Chang Lih Kang, said nuclear energy has long been identified as a strategic area, with MOSTI playing a key role in advancing related technologies, developing talent, and formulating the regulatory framework. 'Exploration in the nuclear field is not new. Discussions between MOSTI and PETRA have been ongoing, but this time, with clear government backing under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), we are now moving forward in a more comprehensive and structured manner. 'This reflects a whole-of-nation approach, where all relevant stakeholders are being engaged. We have formed six task forces, three led by MOSTI and three by PETRA,' he told Bernama and RTM after opening the International Conference on Science Diplomacy for Regional Prosperity in ASEAN here today.
