Georgia's top recruit projected to commit to Texas Tech football
Things may be changing in Guyton's recruitment. Rivals recently projected the elite edge rusher to commit to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. There's still a long way before Guyton has to make a college decision, but there's no doubt that he's a special talent. Guyton has an impressive combination of size and explosiveness.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound edge rusher plays football for Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia. He competes in football and track and field. Guyton is the No. 1 recruit in Georgia and the top edge rusher prospect in the nation.
Georgia still does have a unique pitch to offer the Savannah standout, which could help the Bulldogs if they can offer a name, image and likeness package that is competitive with Texas Tech. Guyton was previously high school teammates with five-star Georgia defensive end signee Elijah Griffin, so Georgia could lean on that relationship to try to pry Guyton away from Texas Tech.

According to multiple reports, the Alabama Crimson Tide are expected to name Ty Simpson the starting quarterback for the 2025 season. The news was first reported Monday night by The Tuscaloosa News, with multiple other outlets also confirming the report. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has yet to officially publicly name a starter between Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell. Oregon Ducks 5-star freshman Trey McNutt suffers broken leg
The Oregon Ducks suffered an unfortunate injury in fall camp last week, leading up to the first game of the season on August 30 against the Montana State Bobcats. Ducks Wire has confirmed that 5-star true freshman safety Trey McNutt suffered a broken right leg, knocking him out of play for the time being. On3's Pete Nakos first reported the news. The severity of the fracture is not known, but McNutt is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future, with a chance that he is healthy enough to return before the end of the season. McNutt was one of three 5-star players whom the Ducks signed in the 2025 class. The 247Sports Composite rated him as the No. 31 player in the class and the No. 2 safety in the nation. While many true freshmen tend to redshirt in their first year at the collegiate level, McNutt was one of a handful of players who were expected to get some valuable snaps in his first year with the Ducks.
