The video has melted hearts on social media, with many praising the dog's quick reflexes and protective instincts. Some also affectionately dubbed the dog "Dogesh Bhai."
One user wrote, "Well done, Dogesh Bhai. You saved those kids like a true bodyguard."
That leap though.....at such heights too. Looked like that could've hurt if it wasn't most likely some trained dog retired, maybe... Regardless, honourable behaviour and such a blessing to witness," another user commented.
A third user stated, "Hero mode: Activated. Leapt like a superhero, saved the day. Kids + doggo = Team Awesome!"
However, not everyone is convinced that the dog was intentionally trying to save the kids, with some users offering alternative interpretations of the dog's behaviour. A fourth added, "Okay, I love dogs, but let's be honest here. The dog jumped not to save the kids but to chase the other dog."
NDTV could not independently verify the date or location of the incident.
This viral video comes at a time when the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the surge in stray dog attacks, directing authorities to take strict action to ensure public safety. The court has ordered the capture, sterilisation, and relocation of stray dogs to shelters, emphasising the need to protect infants and young children from rabies.
The court's decision has received mixed reactions online. Some users have expressed support, citing the need to protect children and vulnerable individuals from stray dog attacks. On the other hand, animal lovers and activists have criticised the order, arguing that it lacks empathy and ignores the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023. Some have even termed it a "death sentence" for stray dogs.

Renukaswamy murder case: Darshan, other accused kept in separate cells; two more accused sent to jail
Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and the other accused, who were re-arrested on Thursday in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case after the Supreme Court cancelled their bail, are being held in the admission barracks in separate cells of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. The Supreme Court had warned of strict action if any special treatment is given to him after the previous episode. During his earlier stint in the Bengaluru Central Prison last year, a photograph surfaced showing Darshan hobnobbing with rowdy-sheeters Wilson Garden Naga and Srinivas and allegedly getting preferential treatment. The leaked image left prison authorities red-faced and led to Darshan's transfer to Ballari Prison. Southeast division police headed by DCP Sarah Fathiema are investigating the cases that followed the leaked picture. A source told The Hindu that at they are preparing to file charge sheets in the cases. Bengaluru city police followed up the development with surprise raids, uncovering multiple irregularities. Subsequently, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) moved the court and secured orders to transfer the rowdy sheeters to other prisons in the State. These individuals had been detained under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA), the harshest law in the Karnataka Police statutes. Given the history of irregularities at the central prison, officials have now made extensive arrangements to securely house Darshan and his associates. Two more remanded Meanwhile, two more accused in the murder case were remanded in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Friday. The police produced Jagadeesh alias Jagga (accused number 6) and Anu Kumar alias Anu (accused number 7) before a judge at his residence in southeastern Bengaluru on Friday, after which they were escorted to the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. S. Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West, who is overseeing the developments, told The Hindu that both were arrested in Chitradurga. 'They have been remanded in judicial custody until August 23 and will be produced before the court again on that date,' Mr. Girish said. The Supreme Court set aside a Karnataka High Court order granting bail to seven of the 17 accused in the murder of Renukaswamy, a Chitradurga resident. Renukaswamy's body was found near a stormwater drain close to Sumanahalli in west Bengaluru on June 9, 2024. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of 17 people, including Darshan and his friend Pavithra Gowda. Police filed a charge sheet in September, after which Darshan and six others approached the Karnataka High Court and were granted bail on October 30, 2024. Bengaluru police later petitioned the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of their bail. On Thursday, the apex court ruled in favour of Bengaluru police, leading to the re-arrest of all the accused. Pavithra was the first to be detained from her residence in RR Nagar, followed by other accused, including Pradosh, Lakshman, and Nagaraj. Darshan was arrested from his wife's apartment in Hosakerehalli, south Bengaluru, where he had gone to visit his wife and son.

UDF spotlights court's observation that a ‘superpower authority' controlled Vigilance as an indictment of CMO
The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Friday argued that a special court's damning repudiation of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB)'s attempt to absolve former Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, M.R. Ajith Kumar vindicated the Opposition's position that a cabal of conspirators at the apex of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) subverted law enforcement for their vested interests. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan stated that the clique operated beyond the pale of law and legislative scrutiny. Mr. Satheesan said the court had shone a light on how the coterie controlled the police, including the VACB. He highlighted the court's observations in the high-profile case. Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge A. Manoj had written that the 'court cannot believe that the officers of the Vigilance department and the superpower authority controlling them' violated the Supreme Court's stricture on investigating official corruption. Mr. Satheesan also seized upon a damning observation of the court to criticise the CMO. The court stated that the 'facts of the case suggest that there is an invisible penetration by someone into the inquiry that leads to the preparation of a report favourable to the suspect, who holds a high position in the Police department. The inquiry report is a subservient report prepared for those who need reports like the present one.' The judge flagged an 'apparent attempt' at the inquiry's outset to supersede the statutory provisions of the Vigilance Manual and Supreme Court judgments, including the establishing Lalithakumari case. The judge wrote that the investigation officer juggled facts and statements to absolve the accused officer of the alleged crime of disproportionate assets accumulation. Mr. Satheesan said the court's decision to conduct an inquiry on its own was an indictment of the Left Department Front (LDF) and its Home and Vigilance departments. He stated the court had signalled an evident lack of trust in the VACB governed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Mr. Satheesan alleged that the VACB's clean chit to Mr. Ajith Kumar was a quid pro quo for the ranking officer acting as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]'s secret emissary to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He alleged that Mr. Vijayan had protected the officer, despite him holding secret parleys with the RSS' national leadership.
