Rene Rast's "headache" required serious care after Zandvoort DTM win
"Yes, I have a headache," confirmed the three-time DTM champion in an interview with ran after the race, though he downplayed the situation: "You really have to concentrate and keep your thoughts together, block out the pain. I took two painkillers before the start."

However, over the course of the podium ceremony, Rast's symptoms worsened. He complained of discomfort, dizziness, and even tingling in his fingers. "It was a very difficult race physically. I had a lot of head pain. Also, my fingers are still tingling, so it wasn't easy, but yeah, we made it."
Next race: Le Mans
Following the podium ceremony, Rast was initially treated in an ambulance. However, instead of attending the press conference, the race winner was taken directly to the medical center for further examinations of his head and cervical spine (neck).
Because options at the track were limited, Rast was transferred to a hospital in Haarlem. A CT scan was scheduled there to rule out possible injuries to the cervical spine, a BMW spokesperson confirmed to Motorsport.com.

Motorsport.com understands the incident occurred roughly 10 minutes before the race started, when Rast had gone to use the restroom one last time. While stepping over the pitwall, the BMW driver is said to have struck his head hard on the railing.
Even team principal Torsten Schubert was unaware of the situation: 'I didn't know anything until the podium. Only after the podium.'
Marco Wittmann, who had even put pressure on his BMW team-mate in the final phase of the race, was also unaware of Rast's health issues.
'No, I'm actually surprised, so I'll definitely check in to see what's going on,' said the runner-up, who was still completely in the dark during the press conference: 'I didn't notice him having any problems, so maybe it happened during the race.'

Following last night's examinations, Rast was released from hospital and is now able to make his way to Le Mans, where he'll drive the #20 BMW M Hybrid V8 alongside Robin Frijns and Sheldon van der Linde in the Hypercar class this week.
"Quick update: got released from hospital this evening," the German wrote on Instagram last night. "No injuries detected which means I am ready to go to Le Mans tomorrow.
"Just before today's DTM race start, I hit my head quite heavily which lead to some pain and dizziness. The medical team took precautions and sent me to a hospital for checks. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for all your messages."

Spied: This Is What the New 2027 BMW 7 Series Will Look Like
The latest car news, reviews, and features. BMW has been hard at work updating its lineup to better match the aesthetics of its forthcoming Neue Klasse models. Judging by the photos our spies sent us, the 7 Series has entered the queue. This prototype spotted on public roads is still wearing quite a bit of vinyl, but we have a pretty good idea of what is going on underneath. This is just a nip-and-tuck style update for BMW's big sedan, so don't expect anything crazy to happen under the hood. Small power bumps here and there are likely, but the majority of the changes will be stylistic, with an emphasis on the fascia, rear bumper and lighting elements. Unsurprisingly, those are the elements covered here. Despite the camo, a few items stand out. For starters, the tiered lighting setup appears as though it will carry over. We can see LEDs glimmering through the translucent strips of vinyl applied to the bumper just below the hood line. They appear to be continuous strips, rather than the split design of the current setup. But the one thing we're really interested in seeing—the grille—remains pretty effectively disguised. Although we can tell that its new treatment won't end up looking as wide or narrow as what has been previewed by prototypes of the new 3 Series, we're expecting a fairly significant revision. Full-width kidneys? Perhaps unlikely. But it should depart at least somewhat from the upright look of the current car; perhaps something in the middle, as we've seen hints of from prototypes of the redesigned X5. The FedExCup Playoffs roll on with this week's 2025 BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. The top 50 players in the FedExCup standings will tee it up with the goal of being one of the 30 golfers advancing to the Tour Championship next week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The first round begins on Thursday and the tournament, which has no cut, will wrap up on Sunday. Below, we look at BMW Championship odds from BetMGM Sportsbook's odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions. The BMW Championship features a 49-player field with Rory McIlroy back after a week off, but Sepp Straka had to withdraw Monday due to a personal matter. Unsurprisingly, Scottie Scheffler (+225) is the favorite to win, with McIlroy (+700) second and Tommy Fleetwood (+1600) also near the top of the board. Still, he finished 10-under in sixth place, only 6 shots off the lead of Justin Rose and J.J. Spaun. His game is coming together at the right time as he tries to keep things going in the playoffs. Im had a solid week in Memphis, finishing T-17 despite shooting 1-over in the final round. That got him into the next round of the playoffs and he now gets to play a course where he came in third at 23-under in 2021. It won't be quite the birdie fest it was 4 years ago, but Im is positioned to keep his season rolling this week.
