Ali Carter hasn't let up since breaking off this morning and is already closing in on the first frame.
Wilson has just to sit back and watch on at this point but he certainly won't be panicking just yet, its way too early for that.

Xintong falls victim to Ding Curse
Zhao Xintong lost his first snooker match for nine months as he fell victim to the Ding Junhui Curse.
Kyren Wilson moved into Sunday's final of the Shanghai Masters with a superb 10-5 victory over China's reigning world snooker champion.
The Warrior, 33, scored breaks of 66, 75, 70, 95, 70, 101 and 51 across the 15 frames and crucially claimed all SIX frames in the evening session.
For Xintong, it was a first defeat since losing to Shaun Murphy in the Last 32 of the UK Championship in York on November 23, 2024.
After that loss in the North Yorkshire cathedral city, Xintong won an astonishing 26 matches in a row, which included lifting the Crucible crown in historic scenes for his country.
But Xintong's Far East homecoming was ruined by the Kettering cueist as he completely flopped in the evening action.
The Cyclone potted breaks of 113, 59, 95 and then a 121 to lead 5-4 in the afternoon but when nighttime came, he was outclassed by the Englishman.
And forget all about the Crucible Curse, which he has to negotiate next spring in Sheffield – the Curse of Ding Junhui struck again in a competitive environment.
This was the 21st time in a row that someone had beaten Ding, 38, and then LOST their next match.
A run that stretches back to John Higgins being the first victim at the Players Championship in February 2024 in Telford.

Wilson through despite interruption
The semi-final of the Shanghai Masters between Wilson and Zhao was delayed for almost seven minutes after the arena scoreboard broke down.
The first prestigious tournament of the new snooker season descended into farcical scenes when both players were forced to walk off as officials tried to fix the problem with the monitors.
It occurred in frame ten in the evening session in front of a packed house at the Luwan Gymnasium.
Xintong, the reigning world champion, had just missed the black off its spot with the score 23-0 in his favour – he was also 5-4 up in the contest – and this forced the home fans to gasp in surprise.
But as he returned to his chair, Wilson complained to the referee about the fact no scores were coming up on the nearby screens.

Who will become a two-time winner?
Both men have already tasted victory in Shanghai before.
Ali Carter claimed the trophy way back in 2010, beating Jamie Burnett 10-7 in the final.
While Kyren Wilson's triumph came in 2015, when he beat Judd Trump 10-9 in a thriller to win his first ranking title.

Wilson reacts
Speaking after his semi-final win, Kyren Wilson said: 'The crowd were massively on Zhao Xintong's side, which is obviously to be expected out here. He's an absolute local hero.
'I managed to settle quite early in the game and find a bit of rhythm.
'It was about going back to the hotel, resetting and recharging and coming out firing for the evening.
'Snooker is booming in China. You can feel an air of expectation every time Xintong turns up for a match. I knew I had to play well.
'We are both young guys and the most recent world champions. Hopefully it's a game the Chinese fans can enjoy for many years to come.
'I did hear about the curse. It's a mad stat. Maybe Ding Junhui is so good he takes it out of you when you beat him.
'Who knows? It's a crazy star. I am sure Ding enjoys it.
'Ali Carter has battled through some tough deciding matches, which is what he does best. He's a fantastic match player. A very gritty, determined character.
'I will have to dig deep and play some of the best snooker I have played in maybe the last 18 months.'

Wilson's route to the final
Wilson has had a tricky route to the final, beating the likes of seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan on his journey in Shanghai.
The Kettering-born star also beat the 2025 Crucible king Zhao Xintong in the last four.
Wilson 6-5 Si - Last 16
Wilson 6-3 O'Sullivan - Quarter-final
Wilson 10-5 Zhao - Semi-final

Final Call
Ali Carter was not supposed to be in the Shanghai Masters – but now he could scoop the entire £210,000 tournament jackpot.
The Captain is ranked 17th in the world and was one spot off qualifying by rights for the event following the end of last season.
Yet more than two weeks ago, world no.10 Mark Allen withdrew for family reasons, a spot opened up and that meant Carter had to quickly pack his bags for China.
And for the THIRD match in a row, the unseeded cueist produced comeback heroics, this time coming from 8-6 down to beat four-time world snooker champion Mark Selby 10-8 in the semi-finals.
Against Xiao Guodong and Mark Williams in the previous two rounds, Carter prevailed 6-5 despite being 5-2 down and being one frame and one big break away from elimination.

Zhao's stunning run comes to an end
Zhao Xintong's 26-match winning run has come to an end after he lost 10-5 to Kyren Wilson in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters.
The Cyclone's last defeat came in the UK Championship to Shaun Murphy back in November.
Since then, Zhao became world champion after a stunning run at the Crucible.

Kyren Wilson 9-5 Zhao Xintong
The pursuit of snookers doesn't last long and Wilson is now one frame away from the final.
It has to be said, he was far from his best there.
He didn't need to be anywhere near it though as Zhao Xintong looks to have ran out of steam.
Five frames on the bounce for Wilson and now he just needs to win one of the next five to progress.
2nd Aug 2025, 14:45 By Craig Mahood
Kyren Wilson 8-5 Zhao Xintong (58-1)
This time the visit yields four points for Wilson as these scores get gradually worse.
Three reds - 55 points - remain on the table and his lead is 57 at this point.
Like much of the few frames before it, this one will end with Zhao chasing snookers.
2nd Aug 2025, 14:44 By Craig Mahood
Kyren Wilson 8-5 Zhao Xintong (54-1)
These breaks of five and six points at a time really making my pals and I look half decent.
Granted, we don't quite have so much on the line.
Wilson has toiled big time in the frame but another simple Zhao pot goes amiss and Wilson will get the chance again to come back and win it.
He only needs one more red now to force Zhao into snookers.

How will the heavyweight division look at the end of 2026?

If 2025 is going to be remembered for anything, it may be that it was the last burst of sunlight for a golden age of the heavyweight division. Oleksandr Usyk reminded the world with some brutality a few weeks ago by stopping Daniel Dubois again to prove that he is the leading heavyweight of his generation. But Usyk is 38 years old and said before that fight that he was looking at only two more bouts to finish off his career. The Ukrainian fighter will likely look then to retire within the next year if he sticks to this plan. And while he has led the division and been its north star in recent years, it is equally likely that he will lead the exodus of the division's largest names – former champions and contenders – over the next year to eighteen months. Like Usyk, the top level of the division is ageing out. Tyson Fury, seemingly on another comeback trail, is 36. Anthony Joshua is 35. Dillian Whyte, who faces Moses Itauma later this month, is 37. Derek Chisora, seemingly forever circling the drain, is 41. Kubrat Pulev, who seems to be aping the same motion, is 44. Zhilei Zhang is 42. Joe Joyce is 39. Most of them are approaching the age of retirement from the ring. Some of them – those in their 40s – have already gone beyond that. All this implies a great shift in the landscape of the big men within that year-to-eighteen-month timeframe. Kingdoms are defined by their kings, and Oleksandr Usyk is, by his own admission, coming to the end of his reign. The question is what his next steps will be. According to the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Usyk is mandated to face New Zealand's Joseph Parker. Parker wants that fight. It is unclear, however, if Usyk feels the same way. But it seems likely that whether Usyk takes the fight or not, the outcome will be the same. If Usyk fights Parker and wins, he retires and the WBO title becomes vacant. Parker moves up from holding his current interim champion to being full champion. If Usyk fights Parker and loses, Parker is the new WBO champion. The question at that point is whether Usyk goes for the rematch or not. That means that Joseph Parker, a year from now, should be the full WBO champion. Should be... The other belts in Usyk's arsenal – the WBC, WBA, and the IBF – will be up for grabs should Usyk retire. The WBC's interim champion is the German boxer Agit Kabayel, 26-0 (18). Kabayel may be among the leaders of the younger generation of heavyweights (he is 32), but if he does not get to fight Usyk and gets elevated to full WBC champion, that may not last long. Kabayel is strong and good, but is an undersized heavyweight in a landscape of giants. As it stands, his top contender is Lawrence Okolie, followed by Anthony Joshua, Efe Ajagba, Martin Bakole, and Filip Hrgovic. The easiest fight out of all of them would arguably be Joshua if he has not retired in the interim. Moving to the WBA, the organisation has three heavyweight champions – Usyk is 'super' champion, Kubrat Pulev is the regular champion, and Fabio Wardley is the 'interim' champion. Should Usyk retire, expect a stadium fight in the UK between Pulev and Wardley. Once Wardley wins that, the top contenders would be Michael Hunter and Moses Itauma. So the end of 2026 could see Itauma facing Wardley in an all-British title match. The IBF, meanwhile, has yet to update officially its ratings, still listing Daniel Dubois as its champion. While there is no #1 contender, ranked from two to five are Derek Chisora, Efe Ajagba, Frank Sanchez, and Joshua. Should that title open up, Chisora would be the highest-placed contender – but it is unsure whether he is retired yet (at 41, he cannot be far away). A more-interesting fight would be Ajagba and Sanchez. Sanchez would be favourited to win, but the title would be leaving Europe either way. All of this is not taking into account the gravitational pull that Fury and Joshua can exert through their box office power. Any champion could, in inheriting a championship, defend against either in a special voluntary defense. The only thing that can be predicted with any clarity is that the exit of Oleksandr Usyk will be like a plug being removed from the division. Chaos is likely to be the only thing to reign undisputedly. James Maddison injury: Tottenham midfielder out for months with torn ACL

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison will miss most of the new season after rupturing his anterior cruciate knee ligament. The midfielder, 28, suffered the injury during a pre-season game against Newcastle United on Sunday in Seoul and was taken off on a stretcher. Manager Thomas Frank said it was the same knee that the player injured in May, forcing him to sit out the final part of last season. In a statement, Tottenham said: 'We can confirm that James Maddison will undergo surgery for a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee. 'His surgery will take place in the coming days and, following that, James will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team. Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur wishes James a full and speedy recovery. We will be supporting him every step of the way.' More to follow

Fans spokesman Jamie Silverwood told SunSport: 'We're going to arrive late to our seats at Leicester for two reasons. 'First we want it to be a visual protest and also the other is that despite this club suffering almost three decades of decline the one thing that has remained constant is the fans' unwavering support. They also confirmed what SunSport revealed earlier that the Leicester game on Sunday is not under threat and will be fulfilled. Meanwhile, Wednesday say they are hoping to satisfy all safety issues before the Stoke game but have made contingency plans to erect a temporary access platform on the West Stand if needed. Meanwhile, the former Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor is "definitely interested" in buying the Yorkshire club. The American businessman sold his 43 per cent stake in the Eagles to New York Jets' billionaire owner Woody Johnson in June. Textor is a majority shareholder in French giants Lyon, Belgium club RWDM Brussels and Brazilian side Botafogo. He has not yet made any approach to Chansiri but said: "I am looking for a traditional English club to buy or with which I can partner. "I am monitoring the situation, hoping to better understand it. "I'm definitely interested. It's a lot to solve in a short amount of time with regards to taking advantage of the transfer window but it's a club and community I would like to help."
