Made In Chelsea, Friendship Feuds And A Near-Death Experience - Sam Vanderpump Opens Up

Graziadaily4 hours ago

He may enjoy stirring up the drama on Made In Chelsea, but off-screen, Sam Vanderpump is a lot more serious. The 28-year-old entrepreneur is the founder of currency exchange brokerage Vanderpump FX and is managing director of finance app Dapio.
Sam – who's the nephew of US reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump – is engaged to Alice Yaxley, whom he's been dating since July 2024. He proposed to the 23-year-old model, following his near-death experience with sepsis last year. This week, he sat down with Grazia to talk all things weddings, Made in Chelsea and life as a Vanderpump...
It's an exciting time for you right now, with Made In Chelsea, wedding planning…
I feel like my life went from being very quiet to everything coming full speed all at once. A lot of stuff is going on with Made In Chelsea, the wedding and my business. I'm also planning on starting a podcast, so everything's suddenly become very busy.
Were you inspired to propose because of how supportive she had been throughout your sepsis ordeal?
From the moment I met Alice, I knew she was the girl I was going to marry. I've never felt like that before about anyone. She's the female version of me – she's perfect in every single way. The only thing my sepsis episode did was speed it up because it made me realise how quick things can be taken away from you and I didn't want to waste time. All I want is to have a fantastic relationship with my family, get married and have children.
Are you planning a big wedding?
At the moment, we're thinking around 160-170 close friends and family. It will be in 2027.
Who will you invite from Made In Chelsea?
Ooh, that list changes daily. [Laughs] Some days it's the whole cast and others, it's limited to just Alice!
Will Reza be your best man?
No. Reza and I are very, very close – we've known each other for ten years plus – but the roles of best man and groomsmen will go to my brother and people I've known for 25 plus years.
Would your aunt Lisa appear on Made In Chelsea?
I would love her to come on. It'd be great for people to see the massive role she plays in my life. She's that father figure role for me – she tells me what to do, how to say it and make sure I don't make any mistakes. The biggest thing she said to me at my dad's funeral was, 'Don't f*** it up'. Only time will tell, but there are currently no plans for her to appear.
Sam Vanderpump with his elder brother Jack and their aunt Lisa ©How are things going with Tristan [Phipps]?
Any plans to make amends?
I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.
What are your plans for Made In Chelsea?
At the moment, I enjoy doing Made In Chelsea. I love it, it's enjoyable and as long as it remains like that and my goals align with the show, I'll continue to do it. But who knows what the future holds. There are endless possibilities. Only time will tell.

Sam Thompson admits to mortifying comment during 'pinch me' meeting with King

TV presenter Sam Thompson has admitted he had a mortifying exchange with King Charles as the pair chatted at the King's Trust Awards at Buckingham Palace Sam Thompson shared his immense pride after meeting King Charles - but admitted he had a mortifying moment. The former Made In Chelsea man was beaming with joy as she showed off the proud moment he met the Royal Family at the King's Trust Awards on Wednesday. Taking to Instagram, Sam, 32, looked extremely smart as she shook the monarch's hand. He was pictured alongside magician Dynamo at the annual event at Buckingham Palace. And he also shared a reel of snaps from the day, including a group shot which featured the likes of George Clooney, Declan Donnelly and Jamie Laing. ‌ However, while Sam had gushed in his caption of the upload, he also admitted he made a huge faux pas while speaking to the King: "Complete honour and pinch me moment yesterday to be invited to the palace," he wrote. ‌ "A massive thank you to @kingstrust and @theroyalfamily. I am lucky enough to be able to present an award to Taylor who is an incredibly special human. "After spending some time with him, his story is one that I think will resonate with a lot of young men his age and I know this is only the beginning for him." Sam then added: "Also called the king 'mate' which was mortifying but he was cool about it!" The post was liked by almost 100,000 of his followers, including best pal Pete Wicks. And the group snap also left Melvin Odoom joking the pair pulled the short straw. In the comments section of Sam's upload, the radio star and former I'm A Celebrity contestant joked: "You and me got done dirty at the back," while finishing with a crying with laughter emoji face. ‌ While Sam is yet to respond to his pal, his sister also wrote: "Not sammy t sneaking into the same pic as hrh and george and Amal clooney." The official Instagram page for the Royal Family also shared the group image with a touching caption. It read: "Today, our King's Trust Award winners and Celebrity Ambassadors had the honour of attending a special reception with our Royal Founding President, His Majesty The King, at Buckingham Palace. "This memorable event celebrated their remarkable achievements ahead of tomorrow's award show. The awards honour those who have been supported by The Trust, and those who mentor them, in the UK and across the world. ‌ "We are immensely proud of the extraordinary accomplishments of our young people and volunteers - their courage and commitment continues to inspire us all." The event saw a number of famous faces hit the red carpet at the event. Alongside Sam was George Clooney as Hollywood's royalty got in on the occasion. Kate Garraway also looked amazing in a patterned gown, while reality TV stars including Jamie Laing and pregnant Sophie Habboo were in attendance.

The Sun exclusively revealed today the pair had decided to go their separate ways, weeks after first being spotted together on a cosy date. 5 Louise Thompson dropped a huge clue that her brother Sam had split with Samie Elishi before their break-up was even announced Credit: PA 5 The Sun exclusively revealed today the pair had decided to go their separate ways Credit: Rex But, during a very recent appearance on Sam's podcast with Pete Wicks, Staying Relevant, she appeared to let slip that the lovebirds were no longer an item. At one point in Wednesday's installment, Louise was asked to describe Sam's ideal girlfriend. The former Made In Chelsea star replied: "I'd love for you to try dating someone that has a normal job, that's outside of the media space. I think that could be exciting. "You definitely need somebody that slightly puts you in your place, so who's gonna talk back to you, and not let you get away with everything." Louise added: "If you're going to go down the fame route, can you just find someone that I would get along with. I'm thinking young British actress." She suggested a good match for Sam would be Harry Potter star Emma Watson. The Sun confirmed earlier today Sam and Samie had split after dating for just two months. A source said: "It was a mutual thing and there is no bad blood between them. "They both just have really busy schedules, particularly Sam who has been non-stop recently, and it was really hard to make it work. They're still good mates. "It's a shame but sometimes things just don't work out." Louise Thompson's fiance Ryan admits he 'resented her' after traumatic birth of son where she asked him 'am I dying?' Sam and Samie confirmed they were dating in early May when they were spotted sharing a steamy kiss on a night out. Sam was pictured snogging Samie and holding her face as they smooched outside Olivia Attwood's 34th birthday bash. They were also snapped walking arm in arm afterwards and he tenderly placed a hand on her waist. While the pair didn't share their relationship on social media, Sam did praise Samie on his podcast, Staying Relevant with pal Pete Wicks. Grilled by his best mate, he was relatively tight-lipped but said: "What I will say though, really awesome chick. You met her that night. Really, really lovely. Super down to earth, super nice, beautiful, obviously." Samie, meanwhile, opened up about the romance last month during an appearance on the We Talk To The Dead podcast. Chatting to host Chloe Smith, the interviewer asked Samie: "Obviously, you don't have to talk about it too much but the guy you're currently speaking to, do you have that gut feeling? Like do you think it's gonna be really good?' She responded: "There's been no bad stuff at the minute. So yeah, I suppose it is all positive right now. It's early days." Sam was cagey, however, when quizzed about Samie while promoting his Soccer Aid challenge for Unicef earlier this month. Asked if she would be there to support him, Sam told MailOnline : "I feel like… this is so much more than who I'm dating or hooking up with. "And I feel like it would take away from what it is going on. You know what I mean? "You know, If I had a wife or something like, like a girlfriend of years it might be a different. "I just think that I don't want to do anything that will take away from this challenge and Unicef - the spotlight needs to be on them." Samie also failed to acknowledge the challenge on social media. Sam and Samie started dating several months after his split from Zara McDermott. The pair called it quits in January after five years together. A source close to the couple told MailOnline: "Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other. "But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025. "There has been no scandal or fallout between them, it's just the result of a difficult year, where they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects." Zara has since moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, who Sam awkwardly came face to face with at Soccer Aid earlier this month as they both played on the same team. 5 Sam attended the TRIC Awards earlier this week without Samie Credit: Splash 5 Sam split from Zara McDermott in January after five years together Credit: Getty
