
Store clerk assaulted while trying to stop distraction theft
Officers were called to Hespeler Road and Dunbar Road around 2:15 a.m.
They learned a female distracted the clerk, while a male grabbed items from store shelves and tried to leave without paying.
The clerk confronted the male, who responded by throwing the merchandise at the employee.
Both the male and female fled on foot before officers arrived.
No description of either suspect was shared in Wednesday's media release.
Police said clerk had minor injuries.
