TNT Sports Is Parting Ways With NBA TV
Talks that would have seen TNT retain its oversight of NBA TV operations, a role it had held down since the 2008-09 season, did not bear fruit. While financial considerations obviously played a key role in the split, the diminished number of games that will be carried on NBA TV under the league's new 11-year rights package is said to have undermined TNT's interest in maintaining the partnership.

The decision to end the alliance was announced Friday morning by TNT Sports Chair and CEO Luis Silberwasser in a memo to employees. In the note, Silberwasser characterized the split as a mutual parting of ways.
'We made several proposals to continue to provide services and operate the NBA TV network and related digital assets,' Silberwasser wrote. 'However, we were unable to agree on a path forward that recognized the value of our expertise, quality content and operational excellence that our fans and partners have come to expect from TNT Sports.'
Silberwasser went on to note that day-to-day oversight of the network would revert to the NBA on Oct. 1.

While this marks the end of a 17-year arrangement that was originally brokered by former Turner Sports capo David Levy, TNT will continue to serve as a generator of digital content for the NBA via its Bleacher Report and House of Highlights properties.
TNT's DNA will also persist care of its Inside the NBA studio show, for which Silberwasser licensed the rights to Disney's ESPN and ABC. Under the terms of that side deal, the four leads (Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal) will remain locked in behind the desk and TNT will continue to have absolute editorial control of the show.

Bogoljub Marković and Mark Sears were heavily featured in a video published by the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, detailing their behind-the-scenes work surrounding the 2025 NBA draft. The Bucks selected Marković with the 47th pick from Serbia and signed Sears to a two-way contract as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama. Marković suited up with the team in the NBA Summer League while Sears didn't play due to a calf strain. The 13-minute video offered a look at the Bucks' draft war room with the front office and practice ahead of summer league. It also showed free agents Myles Turner and Cole Anthony joining the team in Las Vegas to sign their contracts. He will return to play next season with Mega Basket as a draft-and-stash prospect, the Serbian team announced last month. Sears will split his time next season between the NBA and the Wisconsin Herd in the G League. He is eligible to be active for up to 50 games in the NBA and will earn $636,435, which is equal to 50% of the minimum salary applicable to a player with zero years of service.

OKC Thunder to play Trail Blazers four times before New Year's in 2025-26 season
It's August, which means the NBA has dropped its entire 2025-26 regular season schedule. It's an oasis in a desert content. Teams learned when and where they'll face their opponents ahead of the six-month campaign. The Oklahoma City Thunder will enter under the national spotlight. The NBA champions are a popular pick to repeat. They're tied for the most national television games at 34. Expect them to be the team most opponents circle in their calendar as their barometer test. Examining the Thunder's 2025-26 regular season, here is one quirky takeaway from their slate — they will play a Northwest Divisional foe four times before the calendar flips to 2026. They will play the Portland Trail Blazers four times within the first two months. The Thunder will travel to face the Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Nov. 5. They will then host Portland on Sunday, Nov. 23. Within the same month, they return to play at the Trail Blazers on Sunday, Nov. 30. Finally, the Thunder will host the Trail Blazers for their traditional New Year's Eve home game on Wednesday, Dec. 31. It's something OKC has done over the years. As both teams went in opposite directions, the Thunder have dominated the Trail Blazers over the last four years. They're on an active 16-game win streak that spans four seasons. Portland last beat OKC in April 2021. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has put up monster numbers against the rebuild squad. Now, this year's four matchups could be more exciting. The Trail Blazers hope to be competitive. They acquired Jrue Holiday and brought back Damian Lillard. While the latter will miss most of the season recovering from a torn Achilles, his return signals going for it. That said, the Thunder should still win the season series. They're the consensus best team in the NBA. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers are still far away from being in the same stratosphere. It should be four wins for OKC early on to pad its record.
