Hindu Outfit Shuts KFC, Nazeer Foods Outlets In Ghaziabad Over Sawan

NDTV3 days ago
Members of the Hindu Raksha Dal on Friday forcefully downed the shutters of two popular eateries - KFC and Nazeer Foods - in Ghaziabad over the sale of meat during the ongoing period of Sawan, in the presence of police who remained mute spectators.
Sources said the incident in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad comes even as the sale of non-vegetarian food items are not banned in the concerned region amid the ongoing Sawan period and Kanwar Yatra.
Videos of the incident showed the group chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Jai Shri Ram" as they confronted the restaurants' staff members before downing the shutters. It also showed one of the members telling the staff at KFC that "this is Hindustan and whatever the Hindus want will happen here".
The staff at KFC appears to be hassled and making a few phone calls over the protest.
"We are protesting against KFC and Nazeer Foods here since this is a Hindu-populated area. Kanwar Yatras are held here but these people are selling meat here. How can you not respect the sentiments of the Hindus when they are the ones staying here. This is our festival and if anyone tries to interfere, then we will stage protests," one of the members said.
He alleged that the outfit had already taken permission from the administration for the protest. "We do not have a written permission but since we are very active here, we keep talking to them and thus, obtained a verbal permission," he said.
Another member said: "They will have to shut their shops. If these KFC and Nazeer Foods outlets reopen, we will stage a similar protest and shut them down."
The Kanwar Yatra, which began on June 10, sees the participation of lakhs of devotees every year who travel mostly on foot from Haridwar to their local Shiva temples, carrying holy water from the Ganga to offer on Shivlingas.
The Uttar Pradesh government had recently come under criticism for its move to make it mandatory for all shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to have proper licenses and clearly display the owner's original name.

Love Jihad, a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, women must impart moral values to daughters: Vijayvargiya

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh minister for urban administration Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday stated that Love Jihad is a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, making them victims of Muslim men. Speaking at a public function organised to promote wrestling in the Indore-1 assembly constituency area, the former BJP national general secretary urged mothers to instill 'acche sanskar' (moral values) in their daughters. He emphasised that young Hindu girls should verify the family backgrounds of youths before becoming friends with them. "Love Jihad is a conspiracy. Many Hindu girls have become victims," Vijayvargiya said during his address. "Some youths are quoting Hindu names and emotionally entrapping girls. They are destroying the lives of these young girls. It is essential that we caution girls about such conspiracy," he added. The minister further argued, "Mothers and sisters should make them understand that before making friends with a youth, they should check their family background. It is Sanskar that teaches children to differentiate between the good and the bad." He stated that present-day television serials are disturbing young minds. "Send your children to the park so they can learn wrestling and make good friends," he suggested. "Mobile phones have become the close friends of today's children which is affecting their health and thinking," Vijayvargiya maintained. Recalling Indore's high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, Vijayvargiya remarked, "Had Sonam been trained in good ethics and values, her mother and father would not have had to hide their faces today." Meanwhile, the state Congress responded strongly to Vijayvargiya's comments. State PCC spokesman Abhinav Barolia demanded an apology from Kailash Vijayvargiya for his remarks. "The minister must apologise to women for his remarks. He cannot suppress people by shirking responsibility and talking about teaching values. Your party's govt has been in power in the state for more than two decades and there is a BJP govt at the Centre. And then, you pin the blame on mothers and sisters. What is the double-engine govt doing?" he asked.

VHP deploys activists to rein in miscreants tarnishing Kanwar yatra image

Lucknow: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has deployed Bajrang Dal activists across Kanwar routes in UP to identify and help police rein in "miscreants" indulging in hooliganism and thus tarnishing the image of the religious yatra. The activists assigned with the task are either carrying Kanwar themselves or are stationed at various camps --- bhandaras, health camps, sewa kendra, and 'Shayan' kendra (night shelters) --- along the routes. "They have been asked to spot the miscreants and help police in tracking them down," VHP national spokesperson Vind Bansal told TOI on Monday. He said that the workers have been asked to remain disciplined in the process. The development comes close on the heels of CM Yogi Adityanath stepping up monitoring of the Kanwar Yatra in a bid to hunt down miscreants posing as Kanwariyas allegedly to incite violence. Yogi issued clear instructions to paste posters of miscreants in public once the yatra is over. The state govt is also keeping a close watch on the yatra with the help of CCTV cameras. VHP's overdrive regarding the Kanwar Yatra follows its recent push for keeping a check on miscreants posing as seers. This recently prompted the Uttarakhand govt to launch 'Operation Kalnemi', under which more than 300 'fake' people pretending to be seers were arrested by police across six districts of the Kumaon division.

3 held for stoking communal hatred

Lucknow: With the arrest of three people, Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged Pakistan-linked digital conspiracy to incite communal riots and possible terror attacks during the Kanwar Yatra in western UP. The miscreants were arrested for allegedly circulating morphed and inflammatory videos and audios designed to provoke communal hatred, police said. Police confirmed the footage was from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and was related to an incident involving the murder of a woman and her seven children by her husband in April last year. The conspirators misrepresented this incident to spark communal violence. A special police team arrested Mohammed Nadeem (25), Mansher (45), and Rahees alias Furkan (35) from Kakrauli. Three mobile phones used for spreading the content were seized, and a case under relevant BNS sections and the UAPA Act has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify other collaborators, with possible links to radical outfits and Pakistani agencies, said police officers in the DGP headquarters. "The digital diagnostics revealed that the morphed message originated from Pakistan," said Bhanu Bhaskar, additional DG, Meerut zone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nikoo Homes: Luxury Starts @ ₹1.2 Cr* Nikoo Homes Sadahalli Learn More Undo Given Muzaffarnagar's sensitive law-and-order environment, the security was intensified with the deployment of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Rapid Action Force and rigorous social media monitoring. The police identified a WhatsApp group, 'Kakrauli Yuva Ekta', where fake videos and audios were being circulated to inflame tensions. "This was not just an attempt to spread communal hatred but a premeditated plan to provoke riots and possibly orchestrate a lone-wolf terror attack," said a senior officer. On the directions of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the police are continuously monitoring social media, said Bhanu Bhaskar.
