From Masters trophy to Eagle crystal: 10 prizes players can win at Augusta National
AUGUSTA, Ga. — From cloth to crystal, there are many ways for a player to make the Masters memorable.
The tournament stands alone in golf for many reasons, but no other event provides such an elaborate array of prizes to its contestants.
From the most coveted article of clothing in sports, the green jacket, to a variety of crystal glasses and bowls, the Augusta National Golf Club sure does take care of participants when they make memorable shots or produce memorable weeks.
Here's a closer look at the 10 prizes golfers can win at the Masters.
Tournament winner
It all starts with the green jacket, which has been awarded to the champion since 1949. He also gets a sterling silver replica of the Masters Trophy (which depicts the clubhouse) and a gold medal.
Tournament runner-up
Since 1951, the runner-up has received a Silver Medal. In 1978, a Silver Salver was added as an award.
Low amateur
Amateurs who make the cut are eligible to win the silver cup, which goes to the low amateur. There is also a silver medal that goes to the runner-up.
Hole-in-one
Players who card a hole-in-one during the Masters receive a large crystal bowl. There have been 34 holes-in-one in tournament history.
Albatross
A crystal bowl is awarded to players for an albatross, known to some fans as a double eagle. Since there have only been four of those in tournament history, this has proven to be the most difficult trophy to obtain.
Eagle
One way to walk away with a keepsake embossed with the Masters logo is to make an eagle. Any player in the field is eligible. From 1954-62, anyone making an eagle received a crystal highball glass. From 1963-2011, a pair of crystal goblets was awarded. Now, a pair of crystal highball glasses goes to those who card an eagle.
Day's low score
Crystal in the form of a vase is awarded to players who score the lowest round of the day.
Par 3 Contest winner
The winner of the Par 3 Contest receives a crystal pedestal bowl. Famously, no Par 3 Contest winner has ever gone on to win the Masters Tournament later in the same week.
Par 3 hole-in-one
A hole-in-one in the Par 3 Contest earns players a crystal vase. There have been 107 holes-in-one made all-time in the Wednesday tradition, including a record nine in 2016. There were five in 2023, including back-to-back aces by Seamus Power on Nos. 8 and 9.
Par 3 closest to hole
A crystal pitcher is awarded to the player closest to the flagstick in the Par 3 Contest.

Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

The Eagles invited former Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins to the team's joint practice with the Browns on Wednesday and broke the news that he'd be in the Hall of Fame Super Bowl LII Champ. Three-time Pro Bowler. Welcome to the Eagles Hall of Fame, @MalcolmJenkins.@EdwardsLifesci | #FlyEaglesFly Malcolm Jenkins is an Eagle through and through, and he'll be remembered forever after the organization announced that he'd be inducted into the Ring of Honor. The team initially invited the former Pro Bowl safety to the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday as a photographer to capture the on-field action, a hobby that he has started since retiring from the NFL in 2022. Following practice, Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie invited Jenkins into the NovaCare Complex to personally share that he'll be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame Class of 2025, along with the late Bucko Kilroy. Jenkins and Kilroy will be inducted during the November 28 game against the Chicago Bears. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said this about the announcement: "Malcolm and Bucko are most deserving of our team's highest honor, having played integral roles on the 1948, 1949, and 2017 championship-winning teams," Lurie said in a statement. "Along with seven of his teammates, Bucko is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s – an era in which he helped lead the franchise to back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949. "A captain on our first Super Bowl-winning team in 2017, Malcolm was a tenacious player who was beloved by his teammates and coaches for the thoughtful leadership and veteran presence he provided. We proudly congratulate both men, along with their families, and look forward to officially inducting them into the Eagles Hall of Fame in November." An authentic Swiss Army Knife, Jenkins started all 96 regular-season games in his six seasons in Philadelphia. In five of those six seasons, Jenkins played 99 percent of the defensive snaps. Jenkins logged 100 or more stops in each of his six seasons, along with 5.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Jenkins will finish his career with 11 interceptions and 77 pass breakups.

Premier League chief calls for patience as Man City legal case drags on

LONDON (AP) — The Premier League's top official called for patience Wednesday while the seismic legal case involving Manchester City drags on into another season. City was charged by the league in February 2023 with more than 100 financial breaches, including providing misleading information about its sources of income. The case was heard by an independent commission between September and December last year but no verdict has been reached. Punishment could be as extreme as expulsion from the top flight. City has always denied the charges. The issue hangs over the start of another Premier League campaign, with the 2025-26 season starting Friday. But Richard Masters, the competition's chief executive, reiterated the league has no control or say over the timings. Asked in an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports News why the league could not hurry the process along, Masters said: 'I can't answer that specific question. All I can tell you about is the system and how it works. 'I mean, it's an independent judiciary, essentially. So once the allegations, the charge, has been put forward, they go before an independent panel, which is independently selected, and they are then in charge of the process and its timings. They hear the case, they decide the outcome, and we have no influence over that, over it or its timing. That's right from an independence point of view." 'I just have to wait,' he said, "and legal processes rarely take less time than you anticipated, but we have to be patient.' Taking the Premier League abroad The Spanish league has recently approved a request for a match, between Villarreal and Barcelona, to be played in the United States in December and Masters was asked whether the Premier League had any similar desire to take a game abroad. Masters said the need has lessened. 'We did look at the '39th game' way back when, with lots of controversy. I recall that very clearly," Masters said of a controversial proposal made back in 2008 of having an extra round of matches played overseas. 'Our objective at the time, when thinking about it, was to help grow the Premier League around the world. 'And we've been able to do that through different means, through brilliant broadcast partnerships, through digital technology, investing in other areas, like the Summer Series tournament we've just had in the U.S., and now the Premier League is a genuinely global league. There are billions of people who will be tuning in over the course of the next next nine months to watch Premier League action. So we've achieved that objective by different means, that necessity has dissipated.'

Eagles welcome back several familiar faces during joint practice with Browns

It's always great to see familiar faces at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex. In some ways, it was 60 seconds of the most exciting football we had ever seen at Veterans Stadium. The Philadelphia Eagles were playing their final game there, one vs. a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team they had beaten on the home turf many times before. Brian Mitchell came oh so close to housing one on the opening kickoff. His 70-yard return set Philly up with a first-and-ten scenario at Tampa's 26-yard line. Two plays later, a loud and sustained Duce Staley serenade crescendoed into a thunderous roar. The scoreboard read 7-0 in the Eagles' favor just 52 seconds into the NFC Championship game. Sadly, things didn't end well. The Bucs punched their ticket to the Super Bowl, so maybe we should have referenced The Pickle Juice Game or something. Here's the point. Duce Staley is an Eagle. We'll always love him for what he did as a player and coach for the organization. Now, with the Cleveland Browns, he returned home to the NovaCare Complex as the two teams began the first of two joint practices before they meet to play in a preseason game. Staley wasn't the only familiar face we saw. The Browns also brought a few other former Eagles on the trip. Former defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and vice president of football operations Andrew Berry are in town, too, as is Kenny Pickett. Okay, that's it for nostalgia. This is now about competition, and the Birds get to hit someone other than the guys in the familiar jerseys. Here comes a couple of spirited practices before Cleveland's visit ends with a second preseason game on Saturday.
