A LUXURY Porsche was used as a battering ram by crooks in a brazen raid on a petrol station - just minutes after it was stolen from an MOT centre.

Both cars were then driven to an Asda petrol station, where they were used as battering rams in an attempt to get inside.
The Porsche, a high-end, V8 S Tiptronic S model from 2015 that's typically priced between £15,000 to £30,000, was purchased by Betty just days before the incident.
He'd even lined up a buyer for it and had taken a deposit when he'd sent it for an MOT test.

He said: 'I bought it from an auction on the Monday, we drove it back on the same day and incredibly it was one of those rare occasions in the motor trade where we'd taken a deposit and it was ready to go out when it was stolen on the Thursday night.
'We phoned the customer that morning, just letting them know.
'They are still trying to buy another car from us but it's finding the right car for them now, because it was a very
nice
spec model and had all the right things they wanted.
'I haven't seen it as it's currently at a recovery yard and I'm waiting to see what happens with the MOT centre and insurance.

"Some rumours I'd heard from a couple of different places was that it was left running.

'If that's the case then the engine will be no good anymore.
'The back end of the car I haven't seen unfortunately, because the last time I saw it had an Asda Express parked on it but I can't imagine it's great.
'I think it would probably be salvageable if it weren't for the engine. It would certainly be thousands of pounds of work, I would guess.'
The damage occurred when the crooks reversed the Porsche into the main entrance of the store, before seemingly getting it stuck on a metal pillar.
Meanwhile, the Ford was smashed into a smaller unit outside the store.
The group later escaped the scene in a getaway vehicle which was on false plates.
According to Betty, police took
DNA
evidence at the scene, but he doubts the gang will be found.
He added: 'I think in the motor trade you kind of just get used to these weird and wonderful problems that you have.
'I'm quite nonchalant about it at the moment but I imagine, as it drags on and is just trickling in the background, it get more upsetting.
'It has made us think about our own security, I guess.
'We've had someone try to steal a car from the forecourt before. They smashed the window of a Fiesta ST, but set the alarm off and ran away but that's about it, really.
'We've been quite lucky up until now, in a sense but this has definitely tipped the scale.
'The police are working on it, but other than perhaps getting some DNA, which they've taken swabs from the scene, I don't think they've got much to go on, because everyone was wearing masks and the getaway car was on cloned plates.
'The footage that we had of them cutting into the MOT centre, they were so nonchalant about it that I think this is not their first rodeo.
'They've done it before and I don't think there's much hope of conviction coming to be honest.'
A spokesperson for Somerset and Avon Police said: ''At 3.44am on Friday 23 May we received a report of a group of men trying to force entry to a building off the A371 in Locking.
'Officers arrived five minutes later and found the group had left the area after damaging the building.
'Officers carried out a search of the area, supported by a specialist dog team, but no one was located.
'A black Porsche Cayenne and a grey Ford S-Max were found damaged at the scene. Both vehicles are believed to have been stolen during a burglary in Commerce Way, Highbridge earlier in the night.
'The group of men are believed to have left the area in a blue Audi Q5. They were wearing black clothing and balaclavas.
'Our investigation to identify them is ongoing.
'Anyone with information is asked to call 101, using the reference number 5225143650.'

His family told the Sunday World he would be back in three weeks but he has now been on the run for more than seven weeks. A MAN who fled Ireland for Moldova on the eve of his sentence for causing catastrophic injuries to a man he ran over remains on the run weeks after his family said he would return to Ireland to serve his sentence. A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Mihail Trofim on April 11 after he failed to turn up to Dublin Circuit Court to be sentenced for careless driving causing serious bodily harm and driving without insurance on June 8, 2022, at the Old Navan Road, Blanchardstown. The Sunday World called to his home that week and his family bizarrely claimed he fled Ireland for Moldova for hospital treatment as the queues were too long in A&E in Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown. His family told the Sunday World he would be back in three weeks but he has now been on the run for more than seven weeks. His decision to flee means if he ever does return he risks having more time added to his sentence. The Sunday World tried to contact Trofim on his phone and through social media this week but he did not respond. He had actually turned up for sentencing on April 10 but the sentence was adjourned to the next day and it was during this period he fled. The court was later told gardai had made enquiries and could not then locate Trofim at the hospital. A warrant was issued for his arrest. His sister told the Sunday World at the time that Trofim left the country and claimed he travelled to Moldova for hospital treatment because the wait was took long in Blanchardstown Hospital. 'He has his surgery on his leg. He is in hospital. He is in our country in Moldova. He will be about three weeks before he is back. 'He will be back. He knows.' She claimed that he took ill after attending court on April 10. 'After the court on Thursday he was shocked and he has low blood pressure and has varicose on his leg. The vein just boom, you know. Asked why he would travel all the way to Moldova and not just go to hospital in Dublin, his sister said: 'He was in Blanchardstown in the emergency department but you know you have to wait there and the GP said maybe it's better you go to Moldova.' People with varicose veins are advised against travelling long distances due to the potential of blood clots. Trofim's sister said her brother was distraught with causing the injuries to his victim. The victim, who attended court in a wheelchair, required emergency life-saving surgery, was unconscious for 14 weeks after the accident and still doesn't remember the two years before it. He has been left with a brain injury and can no longer play his musical instruments or paint. In a victim impact statement read on behalf of his mother, the court was told the victim feels 'robbed of the life he had' and trapped. 'I'm encapsulated in a body that doesn't work as it should,' the victim said. 'I'm no longer able to do the things that made me happy.' A number of medical reports were handed in to the court, which showed that the injured man sustained life-threatening injuries, along with broken arms, legs and ribs. He spent a year and a day in hospital, including in the National Rehabilitation Hospital. He has been left with double vision, slurred speech, memory difficulties and impaired use of his limbs. He also requires the assistance of a wheelchair and constant care from his family, especially his mother, who moved counties to care for him. Trofim said he didn't see the pedestrian crossing the road due to sunshine. His sister said this week he was distraught over causing the injuries to the victim. 'I was reading the case and the comments below are so rude 'My brother didn't want to do this. Nobody wants to do this. Three years my brother was thinking about this person. I was thinking as well. We wanted to go to him but the solicitor said we cant go to help him and apologise. He said were not allowed to do this.' She claimed at the time that he would be back in three weeks but seven weeks on he remains at large. 'He will be back and he will do his sentence,' she said.

Satchwell is now facing a life sentence after a jury convicted him on Friday of murdering his wife Tina. During his trial for murder, it emerged he had watched an online video twice, showing how quicklime reacts explosively when mixed with water. The substance is used in third world countries to spread on corpses as an odour depressant and speeds up decomposition process, a garda witness told the court. Satchwell denied using lime when asked directly by a garda on 12 October 2023 when he had been re-arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of Tina's body. He told the garda interviewer Det Sgt David Noonan he was looking for a quick drying cement and that it one just one search and he didn't even look at the video. He confirmed that Tina was still in the chest freezer at this stage on 24 March 2017 and denied that it was for the cement used to seal the grave he dug. Satchwell said he understood why the question was asked but was adamant he didn't follow up on the internet search and he never bought any. 'I've nothing to lose by telling the truth. There was no intention,' he told the guard. But Det Gda Noonan said he was being selective and still noy giving them the full truth even though he admitted there being a struggle in which his wife had died. 'I'm not being selective,' replied Satchwell. In her closing statement prosecution counsel Gerardine Small, referring to Satchwell as cunning, conniving and an arch-manipulator, said tha he had seen the video. "Of course he saw it, it was looked at twice.'

The problem relates to a previous recall issued in November by the DVSA which said it could pose a fire risk. According to the DSVA, the reason for that recall was: "A short circuit within the battery modules during the vehicle's service life cannot be ruled out under certain circumstances which could lead to thermal events and later to a fire in the vehicle." Porsche GB said in a statement: "Enhanced battery monitoring software is anticipated to become available for first generation Taycan models towards the end of June. "With its imminent arrival, we've advised our retail partners not to sell a small, specific batch of first generation Taycan models until the software update is live." The carmaker has been contacted for comment.
