Netflix fans will spot a familiar face in the latest episode of its Trainwreck documentary series
Netflix enthusiasts will recognise a familiar face in the latest Trainwreck documentary series.

The anthology of Netflix's Trainwreck revisits some of the most terrifying and peculiar incidents that once ruled mainstream media. The series and films, from their viewpoint, delve into everything from disastrous festivals and political scandals to and horrific cruises and reality TV catastrophes.

Today's episode (July 22) was the Trainwreck P. I. Moms, which takes viewers back to 2010 and a reality TV show about a private investigation agency run by soccer mums. Commissioned by Lifetime Networks, the mums were a group of mothers who trained as private investigators for Chris Butler and it was set to air on TV.

The group investigated everything from exposing unfaithful husbands to insurance scams. However, the show never made it to air, reports the Mirror US.
In the documentary, cast and crew reveal the reality TV show and how Chris Butler was subsequently arrested on multiple felony charges.

At the conclusion of Trainwreck, it states: "On May 4 2012, Chris Butler pleaded guilty to selling drugs, extortion, robbery, and planting illegal wiretaps. He was sentenced to eight years in prison."
According to Netflix's Tudum: "In 2010, Lifetime commissions a reality TV series about a private investigation agency staffed by soccer moms. Everyone is convinced they have the next big hit on their hands, until the production crew starts to notice something is off.
"The moms' investigations keep falling apart, leading to allegations of sabotage. At the same time, a mysterious informant accuses the agency's boss of running an illegal drug operation on the side, abetted by a corrupt cop. For both the TV series and the criminals dealing drugs, it is only a matter of time before things fall disastrously apart."

Viewers will recognise a familiar face in the latest episode of Trainwreck. Actor Carl Marino, who was alleged to have "ruined" the show before it had the chance to get off the ground, makes an appearance.
But where might viewers have seen Carl Marino before?
Carl Marino portrayed a young Joe Kenda on Homicide Hunter. Homicide Hunter follows Lt Joe Kenda who spent 23 years in the police department where he caught criminals and solved hundreds of homicide investigations - and he shares his memories on the show.
However, fans will likely recognise Carl Marino from the Trainwreck documentary. One fan expressed their surprise on Reddit, saying: "I'm shocked and disappointed in Joe Kenda."

Netflix viewers rush to watch 'compelling' reboot of classic Scottish crime series

The recent reboot of the famous Rebus has been added to Netflix as viewers are just discovering the world of Detective Inspector John Rebus and they can't get enough A modern retelling of a legendary Scottish crime drama has quickly become a hit on Netflix, with viewers calling it "absorbing" and "compelling" as it climbs the streaming platform's top TV show charts. ‌ The revamped Rebus series originally premiered on the BBC last year and is inspired by Ian Rankin's long-running Inspector Rebus novels. The first book, Knots and Crosses, hit shelves in 1987 launching a franchise that has since grown to include 24 titles. ‌ With most of the stories set in Edinburgh, the series follows the investigations of the complex and gritty Detective Inspector John Rebus and has made a massive impact on the British crime fiction scene - accounting for around 10% of the UK's crime novel sales and consistently selling over 500,000 copies per release. ‌ Back in 2000 Rebus was first adapted for television, with John Hannah taking on the title role. The show continued until 2007, with Ken Stott leading the cast in later seasons. The new version introduces Richard Rankin, known for his roles in Outlander and Burnistoun, as a younger Rebus bringing a fresh energy to the character while maintaining the dark tone that fans love. ‌ The synopsis reads: "The story follows Detective John Rebus as he deals with an infamous Edinburgh gangster, at the same time dealing with the aftermath of his divorce and a changing workplace." Critics were quick to praise the reboot, branding it as "terrific" and describing Rankin's performance as "alluring." ‌ Similar fans have praised the reboot, with many taking to Rotten Tomatoes to review the series, with Rebus having an impressive 100% rating on the review site. One fan wrote: "This is a very good series. Richard Raskin is much different from Ken Stott, but he's great in the role. I also liked Rebus' partner and ex-wife, too. This series reminded me of Crime, starring Dougray Scott." Another viewer simply stated: "Very good series with a likable lead." While one viewer praised the casting, saying it had him hooked, as they said: "The casting was great. Rankin is a sympathetic and handsome lead. I like the fact that none of the main characters are without fault and all have their vices. I was sucked into the story and watched the whole season over a number of days." ‌ Speaking to the BBC about his role as Rebus, Raskin said: "Rebus is an iconic character in Scottish literature and television. It already has such a huge following. That aside, it was within the first ten pages of episode one that had me absolutely hooked." "I could tell Greggory Burke [the show's screenwriter] was doing something new and exciting with this. It felt real, it felt dark, and it felt charged." ‌ He added that the series was a "dark, cinematic and gritty character drama." The show's debut episode drew an impressive 6.3 million viewers across all BBC platforms and later went on to win three RTS Scotland Awards. Now that the series has landed on Netflix, a new wave of viewers are discovering (or rediscovering) the world of Rebus. Fans will be pleased to hear that a second season has already been confirmed. According to the BBC, the upcoming storyline will see the detective "uncover the links between the violent world of the Edinburgh drug trade and the city's law and finance sectors."

Taking to Instagram, Lochan shared a video with him appearing alongside Brianna Balram, who starred in the Netflix reality series, Too Hot to Handle. It showed the pair had cooked together during Brianna's recent trip to London. One follower commented: "So nice to see him happy I see chemistry here." Another added: "This is a soft launch if ever I saw one. "That hand on the small of the back no lie." Elsewhere, Whitney herself addressed the video via a Snapchat post. She shared a screenshotted comment from a follower which read: "Sorry to disturb you sis, have you seen your replacement." Whitney captioned the post: "Using another sister for clickbait, president." Fans had previously speculated a potential romance between Lochan and Brianna. Love Island's Whitney says she was 'bamboozled' by Lochan split and reveals reason for shock split Ahead of their video, Lochan and Brianna posed closely together in a post on Instagram The pair smiled happily to the camera while standing in a kitchen, and as she held up a plate of food in the two photos. "2 worlds 🇬🇧🇺🇸 [Great Britain and United States] + 2 foodies and 1 recipe. Can you guess what me and your fav chef @lochan_nowacki cooked up while I was in London?' Brianna captioned the post. Fans rushed to the comments to speculate whether the pair were a couple or not. Love Island - Whitney and Lochan Love Story THE duo found love on-screen in 2023 - yet what's the lowdown? Beauty mogul Whitney entered the villa on Day 3, and experienced highs and lows on the hit ITV2 reality show, stealing contestant Andre Furtado, 22, the same day she entered into the villa. She coupled up with Mehdi Edno, 26, on Day 5, and in a surprising turn of events, she took personal trainer Zachariah Noble, 26, out on a date but their chemistry would soon fizzle out. Her luck changed in Week 5, when Windsor-born Lochan entered Cara Amor on Day 26. On Day 31, Whitney chose to couple up with Lochan. The show favourites lost out on the winning spot to Jess Harding, 23, and Sammy Root, 23 on the show finale on Day 58. She recently told how the pair were planning to move in together. Yet in July 2024, eyebrows were raised after the pair unfollowed each other on social media then attended an event together - leaving some fans calling out a "publicity stunt." "If they are dating he'll be the luckiest guy coz bree is one of the most beautiful girls ever," wrote one person. "They look good together," penned another. But another person was not convinced, writing: "Where in the caption does it suggest they are dating? "It just looks to me they partnered up to make a dish... or am I missing something?"

Inside Happy Gilmore 2: Producer and PGA Tour star Collin Morikawa reveal behind-the-scenes secrets and Travis Kelce's cameo

It's been almost three decades since Adam Sandler first graced the silver screen as downtrodden hockey player turned beloved golfer Happy Gilmore. But now he's back, and he has a whole host of famous faces with him. Sandler returned to his happy place Friday when Happy Gilmore 2, the long-awaited sequel to his 1996 cult comedy classic, finally teed off on Netflix. Modern Family star Julie Bowen reprises her role as Gilmore's love interest, Virginia, while Flubber actor Christopher McDonald and Hollywood star Ben Stiller also return. But this time around, Sandler hits the golf course with a glittering array of stars also along for the ride. Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce, musician Bad Bunny, rapper Eminem and a decorated roster of professional golfers, including World No 1 Scottie Scheffler and Masters champion Rory McIlroy, all make cameos next to Hollywood royalty. And sitting down with the Daily Mail to discuss the film at the luxury Montclair Golf Club in New Jersey - a key filming location in the film - producer Jack Giarraputo reveals it wasn't tough to lure the famous faces to set. Not even Taylor Swift 's boyfriend. 'Different cameos came in different ways,' Giarraputo reveals. 'With Travis, he was wearing the hat around and saying, "I heard there's a sequel, I want to be in it!" So that was helpful,' he continues. 'Adam saw Bad Bunny on SNL and thought, "He's funny, we should put him in the movie." 'We wanted to create an authentic golf environment, so we went after all the top players and because they grew up with the movie, they were like, "let's do it". So, it was a mutual feeling with the golfers.' Giarraputo admits he was pleasantly surprised by the acting skills of Kelce and Bad Bunny. 'It was all mutual love and respect. It's really funny to see that people are good at other things,' he adds. The PGA Tour's current biggest stars grew up with the original, which made for a cultural revolution in golf. The stereotypically uptight and stuffy sport was inundated with iconic quotes and memorable - if not, goofy - moments. It is, therefore, no surprise that an appearance in the sequel held a certain allure for the latest generation of golfers, including two-time major winner Collin Morikawa. Morikawa, who in addition to his cameo also stars in US Bank's TV spot collaboration with Happy Gilmore 2, is used to high-pressure situations with an Open Championship and PGA Championship to his name and multiple Ryder Cups for Team USA under his belt. But that calm and collected demeanor doesn't necessarily translate when those sloping fairways transform into a film set. 'I was nervous but it was exciting,' the Ryder Cup star tells the Daily Mail. 'More emotions than us playing on the golf course. We're so used to doing what we do. It's so routine when I'm on the golf course that I know what's going to happen. 'But in the production world, you don't necessarily know what's going to happen. Things pop up very spontaneously, ideas come and things change very quickly. I love how they just adapt. That's what I respect about these guys so much.' While he may vie week in and week out to best his rivals on the PGA Tour, the 28-year-old confesses he won't be taking home the Best Actor award among his peers. 'I am not the best,' he admits, laughing. 'I didn't get to spend time with Scottie [Scheffler], Bryson [DeChambeau], Rory [McIlroy], Brooks [Koepka] and that group. But I did spend a lot of time with Jordan [Spieth], Rickie [Fowler], Xander [Schauffele] and the Hall of Famers.' When pressed on who did shine the most on screen, Morikawa discloses that Spieth or Schauffele impressed him the most. 'This is not comfortable for us at all to sit down and have lines and be ready on the spot,' he continues. 'I know we have multiple takes but we don't want to get it wrong because we know we're just here hopefully adding to the film. 'I'll give it to the old guys - Freddie [Couples], Jack [Nicklaus] - that's definitely not their scene and I think they did a great job.' Morikawa further broke the stern golfing mold with his hilarious delivery in the film's accompanying ad in collaboration with US Bank, the official sponsor of the fictional tour in the movie. What do golf, Netflix and U.S. Bank have in common? Happy Gilmore 2! Premiering on Netflix July 25. #happygilmore2 — U.S. Bank (@usbank) July 16, 2025 Paige Spiranac pictured in a see-through dress at the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 on Monday World No 1 Scottie Scheffler (left) and golf cult icon John Daly (right) are also tipped for cameos The commercial, which was shot by Frank Coraci, one of Sandler's go-to directors, sees Morikawa ride a club like a bull - a signature Gilmore celebration - something which surely does not come natural to a professional golfer. 'It's creating an environment on the set that's relaxed,' Coraci reveals when asked how he manages to get sports stars to let loose in front of the camera. 'It's being present for them and generally just watching what they're doing and laughing. 'The nice thing is that we [Happy Madison] have a track record of making pretty funny movies so I think it was easy from the trust aspect. Yes, he's going out on a limb but it's going to be worthwhile.' As well as a host of new faces, Happy Gilmore 2 has had to navigate a slew of new storylines that have overtaken the sport in recent years - most noticeably the revolutionary play of big hitters like DeChambeau and the emergence of LIV Golf, the PGA Tour's Saudi-backed rival circuit. 'It definitely was a big thing in the original movie that Happy Gilmore could hit the ball 400 yards,' Giarraputo explains. 'Now, it's not normal, but you do see it. So that was definitely a big change we had to figure out. 'And also with the new competing league idea, that was something we had to take into consideration. But all in all, we just wanted to find a good story that people who love the first movie could really enjoy this one.' And it's a movie Morikawa believes not only golf fans will enjoy. 'It's going to be huge,' the golfer gushes. 'I think this is going to bridge a lot of gaps between generations and even those that aren't into golf. Happy Gilmore bridges that gap into golf for people who don't know the sport. It's going to uplift our sport even more.'
