Alicia Silverstone teases Clueless TV show will 'honour' original movie
The 48-year-old actress shot to fame playing pampered teenager Cher Horowitz in the 1995 movie and she revealed in April she'd be reprising the role for Peacock's upcoming programme, and while she admitted there is "not much" she can discuss about it, she promised it will bring "something fresh and new" to the characters while staying true to the original premise.
Speaking on TODAY, she said: 'I'm really excited about it. I think we're going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honour what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher.
'So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it. I'm confident that we'll be able to do that, but we're in baby stages right now.'
Alicia previously admitted it was playing Cher again in Rakuten's 2023 Super Bowl commercial that made her particularly keen to return to the role.
Asked if she thought she'd ever revisit her character, she told People magazine: "I didn't. And then I did it for the Super Bowl, yeah, and it was so much fun. We did it really at the Super Bowl."
The Baby-Sitters Club actress recalled her and ex-husband Christopher Jarecki's son Bear, now 14, first saw the movie when he was just five years old - and although the youngster "didn't know what was going on", the movie compelled him to kiss his mom more.
She recalled: "I remember when my son was five, when he first saw it.
"And the only reason I would allow that, because I don't think it's appropriate for five year olds, is because it was on that big screen that we saw it at the cemetery. He didn't know what was going on.
'The only thing he took away was the kiss at the end. He started kissing me more. It was so sweet.
'And I think he liked it. And then he's liked it all along. I think he really likes this film.'
There was a previous attempt to bring Clueless back as a TV show for Peacock back in 2020, but that project never went forward.
A previous TV show version of the story launched back in the 1990s, with Rachel Blanchard playing Cher for three seasons between 1996 and 1999.
Alicia previously revived Cher back in 2021 when she recreated a scene from the film with her son Bear for a video posted on TikTok.
She later enlisted her former co-star Stacey Dash - who played Cher's best friend Dionne - to film another recreated scene for the social media site before sharing a Cher montage last year to mark 27 years since 'Clueless' hit cinemas.
Alicia captioned the clip: "27 years ago, a bad b**** was born ... Happy anniversary, Cher! #Clueless #AsIf #90s."

Aaron Phypers insists Denise Richards wasn't interested in their pets
Aaron Phypers has claimed Denise Richards had shown no interest in their pets for the last two years. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star turned up to the home in Calabasas, California where her estranged husband - who she has accused of domestic abuse - lives with his parents and brother on Sunday (03.08.25) in order to get one of her dogs after she accused the 52-year-old star of having another canine put to sleep without her knowledge. And now Aaron has insisted the 54-year-old actress didn't have any involvement with the lives of any of their animals. He told People magazine: "Denise hasn't interacted with the animals in two years and never has wanted knowledge or wanted to give her permission to any type of care for the animals." And a source explained the dog who was euthanised was elderly and "suffering" due to health issues. The insider said: 'Melanie, a sweet elder dog who Aaron loved, had late stage cancer and was suffering when he took her for help as the vet insisted the few days she had left being in pain were better met with putting her to sleep and off to heaven. 'It was a painful decision. To say she was 'put down' is hurtful.' Denise currently has a restraining order in place against her estranged husband, ensuring he stays at least 100 yards away from her, so when she showed up to his house for the dog, he immediately left the property. However, according to audio obtained by People, an emergency dispatcher said Aaron told them after leaving that he 'fears for his parents'. According to TMZ, police were called when the Wild Things star barged in and demanded the dog, screaming at Aaron's parents 'to get out of the house and putting her finger in their faces', and allegedly "swinging at" Aaron's brother and "throwing mail" at him. Although Aaron's family were 'terrified and very shaken up from the incident', police decided no crime had been committed and no arrests were made. Aaron and Denise were married for six years before he filed for divorce on July 7. She later accused him of physical abuse and was granted a temporary restraining order on July 16, though he has denied her claims. He previously said: "Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise - or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect."

Paula Patton is 'enjoying every moment' as a 'single woman'
Paula Patton is "enjoying every moment" of her life as a "single woman". The 49-year-old actress - who was married to pop star Robin Thicke for 10 years between 2005 and 2015 - has not been in a relationship for some time and she's insisted she isn't rushing to find love again because she trusts that it's all "gonna work out". She told PEOPLE: "I'm going to be honest, I am a single woman ... [I believe] God has your king for you, and you just have to go about your life enjoying every moment. Don't wait on anything or anybody. Just trust and know that when the right person comes, it will be." Paula added: "I think we get caught up in fear, or worried about being alone, and then you make choices that are not great choices, instead of just like, trusting, it's all gonna work out, and then you don't have to chase anything. The actress met her former husband Thicke - father of her son Julian - when they were both teenagers and they were married for almost a decade before they announced their split in 2014. The former couple divorced the following year. Paula's latest movie project is Lifetime movie Finding Faith - in which she plays a woman whose life goes into a downward spiral before embarking on a healing journey to restore her faith in God - and she has admitted the story mirrored her own life after she gave up alcohol seven years ago. During an appearance on the Today show, she explained she was nervous about playing a drinker after being sober for so many years. She said: "I thought: 'How can I not be honest about what I've been experiencing, that seven years ago, I got sober. I know what it is to be in chaos and find your way out' "But going back and having to play being inebriated when I hadn't been inebriated for seven years, I was like: 'How am I gonna do that?' ... "I called people I knew during that time. I was like: 'Can you remind me how I was?' "And I listened to the music that I would listen to at the time. And then, there was a young woman who had recently gotten sober and she helped me remember that mindset. And it's kind of a victim mindset ... "I was able to give myself grace and just say: 'You were doing the best you could at the time. You didn't know any better. And so, now you do better, and it's okay'." Paula went on to credit her 15-year-old son Julian with helping her after she decided to give up booze, saying: "He's my best friend. "When I got sober, it just changed my life. He and our neighbor … they were my two best friends. "And I got to live life again, like a kid through him and her, and it gives you all the reasons to want to live."
