Maurizio Sarri Testing Alternative Lazio Formation in Pre-season
The Background
In the first four days of pre-season, the Biancocelesti underwent double training sessions. But as La Lazio Siamo Noi reports, the manager opted to give the players a breather on Friday morning, before resuming work in the afternoon. The team focused on attacking patterns in their practice drills before engaging in a mini-match between the ranks.
Which Lazio Players Missed the Session
Gustav Isaksen, Mattia Zaccagni, Samuel Gigot, Patric, and Luca Pellegrini all missed the training session as they're currently recovering from various physical problems. As for those who attended the session, they were split into two teams, with the greens playing in Sarri's tried-and-tested 4-3-3 formation, while the reds portrayed a 4-2-3-1 system.

For the red team, Nicolo Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi connected in the double pivot, as it was often the case in Marco Baroni's 4-2-3-1 system, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was tested as an attacking midfielder in between Tijjani Noslin and Sana Fernandes, with Boulaye Dia leading the line.

Report – Liverpool Looking To Hijack Inter Milan Pursuit Of Parma Defender
Liverpool could reportedly try to overtake Inter Milan in the race to sign highly-rated Parma center-back Giovanni Leoni. According to British newspaper The Times via FCInterNews, the Reds could hijack Inter's long-term pursuit of the 18-year-old. It's no secret that the Nerazzurri view Giovanni Leoni as a concrete target despite the current lack of funds. However, Cristian Chivu has requested the youngster's signing, having previously worked with him at Ennio Tardini. (Photo by) With Inter focusing on adding Ademola Lookman to Chivu's attacking options, their pursuit of Leoni has taken a back seat. Meanwhile, Liverpool have seemingly spotted a window of opportunity and are keen to take advantage. Despite boasting a star-studded backline, the reigning Premier League holders are in the market for a new defender. Indeed, Virgil van Dijk is entering the autumn of his playing career. Therefore, Ibrahima Konate remains the only dependable center-back option for the future. That rings particularly true when factoring in Jarell Quansah's transfer to Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Report – Parma Reject Players From Inter Milan In Exchange For Liverpool Target: Cash Only
Parma have firmly rejected any player swap offers from Inter Milan, insisting on a cash-only deal for Giovanni Leoni. According to FCInterNews, the Crusaders have made it abundantly clear that they only want cash for their sought-after teenager. Giovanni Leoni has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in European football. Despite breaking onto the grand stage only last season, the 18-year-old already has plenty of admirers. Indeed, in addition to Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, and Liverpool have shown interest in his services. (Photo by) Parma have slapped a substantial €40 million bid on Leoni's head. However, Inter had hoped to include several players as a makeweight to drive the price down. Kristjan Asllani and Sebastiano Esposito are the players in question. Yet, their request has fallen on the Crusaders' deaf ears. Instead, they're only interested in taking hard cash for their most prized asset. That's the last thing the Nerazzurri would want to hear, especially now that Liverpool have intensified their interest. Indeed, aware of Inter's financial constraints, the Reds are keen to accelerate talks with Parma.

Jobe Bellingham 'anxious' about following Jude at Dortmund
Jobe Bellingham admitted on Tuesday to having "anxieties" on following in brother Jude's footsteps after joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Jobe, 19, is two years younger than Jude, who joined Real Madrid in 2023 after three years at Dortmund. A centrepiece of the England national team, Jude has emerged as one of the best players in the world in recent seasons. The younger Bellingham joined Dortmund in June from Sunderland after their promotion to the Premier League. Jobe admitted he understood what the perception would be ahead of the move to Germany. "It's something you do think about. You have these anxieties, especially me as I'm only young," Bellingham told reporters at Dortmund's pre-season camp in Austria. "I'm not perfect. I do think about these things, but that was down to the club convincing me that these things wouldn't have much bearing on me. "This was a decision I made and it's for myself. My journey is not anyone else's to understand," he added. Bellingham made his Dortmund debut in the Club World Cup in the United States, scoring once and providing an assist in four games. Like he did at Sunderland, the younger Bellingham wears his first name Jobe on the back of his jersey rather than his last name to avoid comparisons with his sibling. Jobe said his older brother was "extremely proud -- he didn't have much to say other than 'embrace it'," when he found out he was off to Dortmund, but added "our conversations aren't usually that serious." The midfielder, who usually plays in a deeper role than his brother, said he did "not want to be a superstar... I don't want to be a big character away from the pitch. "When I play I just want to be one of the highest performing players and get my head down." Dortmund open their season at Essen in the first round of the German Cup on August 18. dwi/iwd/dmc
