Moscow genuinely interested in revival of Russia-India-China troika format: Sergey Lavrov
Moscow is genuinely interested in the revival of activities within the framework of the Russia-India-China (RIC) format, Russian Foreign Minister
Sergey Lavrov
said on Thursday.
'I would like to confirm our genuine interest in the earliest resumption of the work within the format of the troika -- Russia, India, China -- which was established many years ago on the initiative of (ex-Russian prime minister) Yevgeny Primakov, and which has organised meetings more than 20 times at the ministerial level since then, not only at the level of foreign policy chiefs, but also the heads of other economic, trade and financial agencies of the three countries,' Lavrov was quoted as saying by
TASS
.
The foreign minister was addressing an international social and political conference on forming a single and equitable system of security and cooperation in Eurasia in the city of Perm in the Ural mountains, where Europe borders with Asia, at the plenary session of the conference.

'As of today, as I understand, an understanding has been reached between India and China on how to ease the situation on the border, and it seems to me that the time has come for the revival of this RIC troika,' Lavrov stressed.
He also alleged that NATO is blatantly trying to lure India into anti-China intrigues.
Live Events
'I have no doubts that our Indian friends, and I say this on the basis of confidential conversations with them, obviously see this trend that can be actually deemed as a large provocation,' Lavrov said.
The RIC troika was frozen since the
Galwan crisis
in June 2020.
However, the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan in October 2024 was seen as a thaw when the two leaders expressed the need to improve bilateral relations.

A statement, jointly signed by 23 MLAs stated, "We feel and share the enormous suffering endured by the people of Manipur over the past two years. As elected representatives, we are united in our firm belief that a long-term solution to the crisis is both possible and necessary." Live Events "Such a solution must rest on the pillars of political will, inclusive dialogue, constitutional safeguards and impartial endorsement of law and order. It is our collective conviction that this journey must be undertaken in close cooperation between the Centre, state, civil society and community leaders," it added. The meeting was attended by senior BJP MLAs, including Govindas Konthoujam, Y Khemchand Singh and L Susindro Meitei. "During our deliberations, we thoroughly examined mechanisms for inclusive dialogue involving representation of all communities in Manipur. We strongly support the establishment of a neutral dialogue platform to facilitate constructive meditation between Meitei and Kuki Zo communities aimed at building trust and consensus on critical issues," the statement added. "The meeting also considered the feasibility of formally approaching the governor and the central leadership to appoint a peace envoy or a panel of eminent persons, comprising voices from within and outside Manipur. Such a body operating with full support of the Union government and the state administration would play a vital role in facilitating impartial mediation and bridging the trust deficit among the communities," they said. "We emphasise the critical importance of inter-community people-to-people dialogue at grassroots level involving local governance institutions, civil society groups, student bodies and religious institutions. This will lay the foundation of healing, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence," the legislators said. "We underscored the need of central paramilitary forces and state forces to act with strict neutrality and reiterated the urgency of a well-monitored effort to recover looted weapons and disarmament in the hills and the valley," the statement said. The legislators also acknowledged the "public desire to see the formation of a popular government". "We discussed pathways to achieve this with unity and selflessness. We resolve to put aside personal ambitions in the larger interests of the state, its people, and the vision of BJP and its alliance partners in Manipur," they said. "With collective determination and inclusive leadership, we believe the state can once again find its path towards unity and progress," they added. The signatories of its statement did not include former chief minister N Biren Singh or Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh. On May 28, 10 NDA MLAs met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in the Raj Bhawan. The MLAs also submitted a list of 22 MLAs seeking formation of a government. With BJP falling to find a consensus candidate for the chief ministership, President's rule was imposed on, four days after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who was heading a BJP-led government for the second term, resigned on February 9, following ethnic violence. A senior BJP leader, who did not want to be named, said, 'There are too many candidates in the fray for the chief minister ship. Assembly Speaker Satyabrata Singh and former Municipal Administrations, Housing and former Urban Development minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh were vying for the chief minister's post.' He said two former ministers, including Th Biswajit and Govindas Konthoujam were also in the race. Over 260 people were killed, more than 1,500 injured, and over 70,000 people displaced after the ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo people on May 3, 2023, after a 'Tribal Solidarity March', organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.

'Let's move on': Elon Musk shrugs off drug use accusation at White House
The New York Times report alleges Elon Musk frequently used ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelics during his time in Trump's administration, sometimes daily, raising concerns over his behaviour New Delhi Elon Musk's tenure as part of US President Donald Trump's administration has come under renewed scrutiny following a New York Times investigation alleging frequent drug use and erratic behaviour. The report alleged Musk consumed ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms while serving as a 'special government employee' at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to sources cited in the report, Musk's drug use — reportedly far more frequent than he previously admitted — sparked alarm among government insiders. Although Musk claimed in a March 2024 interview with journalist Don Lemon that he used ketamine in 'small doses every two weeks', news reports allege he often took it daily, contributing to bladder issues. 'If you've used too much ketamine, you can't really get work done, and I have a lot of work,' Musk told Lemon. Musk's daily medication box allegedly held around 20 pills, including Adderall, intensifying concerns about his physical and mental well-being. His influence in the administration grew alongside a $275 million donation to Trump's presidential campaign, deepening questions about the intersection of power and substance use. Erratic conduct in office Despite SpaceX's strict drug-free workplace policy, insiders claim Musk received advance warnings of random drug tests, undermining the system's integrity. Being classified as a 'special government employee', Musk was exempt from many federal restrictions on drug use — though recreational use of substances like ecstasy and ketamine would typically violate federal workplace policies. Musk deflects during farewell speech When Fox News's Peter Doocy questioned Musk about the New York Times allegations during his farewell speech at the White House, Musk responded dismissively. 'Is the New York Times, is that the same publication that got a Pulitzer Prize for false reporting on the Russia-gate? Is that the same organisation? I think it is,' Musk said, turning to Trump. 'I think the judge just ruled against the New York Times for their lies about the Russia-gate hoax, and they may have to give back their Pulitzer Prize. That New York Times, let's move on.' White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller also avoided addressing concerns over Musk's drug use. 'The drugs we're concerned about are the drugs pouring across the southern border. Next question,' he told reporters.
