Tributes paid to two riders killed in motorcycle race
Father-of-two Shane Richardson from New Zealand and 21-year-old British rider Owen Jenner were both fatally injured in an 11-bike crash on the first lap of the race.
Another rider, Tom Tunstall, 47, is in the Royal Stoke University Hospital with significant back and abdominal injuries, while five other riders suffered minor injuries.

Jenner, from Crowborough in East Sussex, began his racing career in Junior Motorcross.
He then progressed to the tarmac, winning the 2018 Team Green, 2020 Junior Supersport and 2023 Junior Superstock titles. He joined the Kramer Team for the 2024 British GP2 season, winning the title with 18 wins out of 20 race finishes.
Jenner signed for Rapid Honda in November 2024 and in announcing his death, the team said it felt "sadness beyond words".
A statement added: "Our deepest condolences go out to the families, friends, and teams of Owen during this unimaginably difficult time, and to those of Shane Richardson, who also sadly lost his life.

"Our thoughts are also with Tom Tunstall and his family, as he continues to receive medical care.
"Losing two talented riders is a huge loss to the entire motorsport community."
Team Green Racing, said: "We are devastated to hear of the sad passing of Owen Jenner. Truly one of the great characters of the paddock and an incredibly talented racer."
Richardson grew up in the town of Lower Hutt, just north of Wellington on New Zealand's north Island, before moving to the UK.
He has been a joiner since the age of 16 and ran a joinery business alongside his racing career.
He began racing in 2013 and within four years was competing at international events such as the MotoAmerica championship in the United States.

In 2019 he joined his girlfriend Hannah James in the UK, where his two children, Maddie and Max, were born.
Fellow New Zealand rider Morgan McLaren-Wood, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, paid tribute to Richardson on social media.
"Struggling to find the words for what happened," he said. "Rest in peace Shane and Owen. My heart goes out to both of their families during this heartbreaking time."
New Zealand Hutt City councillor Brady Dyer posted on Facebook: "Shane was proud to be from Wainuiomata and was admired both locally and abroad for his skill and passion.
"This is a heartbreaking loss, and I know many in our community will be feeling it deeply."

Fellow New Zealand rider Cormac Buchanan said Shane was "truly one of the best people I ever had the privilege of sharing the track with".
Writing on Instagram, Buchanan said: "You never failed to put a smile on all of our faces. You were someone I could look up to and learn from and I am so lucky to have had your guidance in my first year in the UK.
"I cherish all of the track walks with you and Damo, the hard battles we had, bumping bars and swapping paint. I'm grateful to have been able to consider you a competitor, rival, and a friend. I always felt your support no matter what the situation, race, or outcome was".

Yankees' 9 homers traveled almost a mile; Here's blow-by-blow
TAMPA, Fla. — Rays right-hander Shane Baz was the gas station for the start of a Yankees' power show that they never, ever topped, nine homers in nine innings in a 13-3 slaughtering. Baz's 1-1 cutter to Aaron Judge with one out in the first inning split the plate just above the belt. You throw this pitch to the best slugger in the majors, you're going to getting a new baseball from the plate ump more times than not. Judge barreled it up for a towering drove that sailed high over the center-field wall for a 429-foot homer that set off a huge roar at Steinbrenner Field, which is filled mostly with Yankees fans in spring training and was the same way on Tuesday night. Three pitches later, Baz threw the same mistake pitch to Cody Bellinger, another cutter above the belt across the plate. Same result, too. Bellinger blast a 383-foot homer to right for a 2-0 Yankees lead. Next up was Giancarlo Stanton, who was hitting third and back in the Yankees' lineup as their right fielder for the first time in six days with his lower-body soreness manageable. Big G took two called strikes, then Baz threw a 98-mph heater in a bad spot, just below the belt between the middle and an outside corner of the plate. Stanton teed off and, BAM, opposite-field homer to right. Four batters into the game, it was 3-0 Yankees on back-to-back-to-back homers. 'No doubters,' manager Aaron Boone said. 'Judge hitting it almost all the way up the batter's eye and then Belly really leaning on one and then Giancarlo just shot it the other way. 'In their own kind of way, three really good statement at-bats.' The Yankees were just getting started. Baz served up two more homers in the next two innings when Jose Caballero popped one over the right-field wall in the fourth and Jazz Chisholm hit one in the third. With left-hander Ian Seymour on in relief, the Yankees hit three more homers in the middle innings, Stanton's second of the night and Ben Rice going deep in the fourth, then Bellinger making it a two-homer game in the sixth. That made it eight homers with three innings to go. The Yankees were one shy of the franchise record, set in the second game of the season when the Yankees pummeled the Brewers 20-9 at Yankee Stadium, and two short of the MLB mark, 10 by the Blue Jays in a 1987 game against the Orioles at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. The Yankees were shut out in the seventh and eighth innings, then reached nine for the second time this season — and ever — in the ninth when Caballero, of all people, made it two homers on the night and four for the season. Over 8,000 people have asked energy regulator Ofgem to block Tesla from supplying British households with electricity over owner Elon Musk's 'clear political agenda'. License Bid Tesla Energy Ventures is currently trying to get approval for an energy license from regulator Ofgem to supply British households and take on giants such as British Gas owner Centrica and Octopus Energy. If successful, it hopes to start switching on supply next year. Members of the public have until Friday to comment on the application, after which Ofgem will decide whether to grant Tesla a licence to supply electricity. They haven't been holding back. According to campaign group Best for Britain, 8,462 people have used its online tool to lodge objections with Ofgem. Tesla has had its troubles this year with its EV arm, faced by stiffer competition and the hit to brand reputation caused by Musk's involved in the Trump administration. This has impacted the company's previous 'tour de force' share price performance. However, it has a burgeoning solar energy and battery storage business and has been an electricity supplier in Texas for the past three years. Good Energy Tesla's energy business saw total energy generation and storage revenue jump 67% year over year to more than $10 billion in 2024. After deploying 14.7 gigawatt hours (GWh) of storage in 2023, Tesla more than doubled this figure to 31.4 GWh in 2024. Its Megapack product – a grid-scale battery storage solution designed for utilities and large-scale commercial customers, has led the way. The company is producing Megapacks at its dedicated Lathrop, California, facility, and recently started production at a second Megapack factory in Shanghai, with a target production of up to 40 GWh of capacity per year. The British business is expected to be branded TeslaElectric and could focus on supplying electricity to consumers who own Tesla products such as cars or batteries. Indeed, according to industry experts, Tesla is in a strong position in the U.K. to start supplying if the license application is approved. It has sold more than a quarter of a million EVs and tens of thousands of home storage batteries, called Powerwalls, in the UK, which could help it gain access to a sizeable customer base for an electricity supply business. Norway soccer federation says it will donate profits from Israel game to humanitarian work in Gaza
GENEVA (AP) — Norway's soccer federation says it 'cannot remain indifferent' to humanitarian suffering in Gaza and will donate any profits from an upcoming World Cup qualifying game against Israel to aid work there. Norway plays Israel in Oslo on Oct. 11. 'Neither we nor other organizations can remain indifferent to the humanitarian suffering and disproportionate attacks that the civilian population in Gaza has been subjected to for a long time,' Norwegian Football Federation President Lise Klaveness said in a statement Tuesday. 'We want to donate the proceeds to a humanitarian organization that saves lives in Gaza every day and provides active emergency aid on the ground,' she said. It wasn't immediately clear how much the Norwegian federation expected to earn through ticket sales for the match, which begin next week. The Israeli soccer federation responded to the move on Wednesday by urging its Norwegian counterpart also to condemn the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks and hostage-taking by Hamas. In a statement first published by British daily The Telegraph, the Israeli federation also called on the Norwegians to 'make sure that the money is not transferred to terrorist organizations or to whale hunting,' referring to an issue Norway has faced global criticism for. The Norwegian federation said it is working with UEFA and local police on security arrangements for the Oct. 11 game. Extra security is expected to limit capacity by up to 3,000 tickets, the federation said. Ullevaal Stadium typically has crowds of 26,000 for national-team games. Israel has been unable to host games in international competitions for security reasons since October 2023. It staged its 'home' qualifying game against Norway in Hungary.
