But this time it is even tougher as Sunday's Old Trafford battle with Manchester United is just the start of a seriously tricky opening set of games.

After Leeds at home next Saturday, Arsenal visit champions Liverpool, are at home to Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, followed by a trip to Newcastle.
Defender Timber grinned: 'It is a tough beginning, isn't it? I think last season we had a tough start.
'It can go both ways. If you start well, it can be amazing. That is the challenge.
'Personally, when the programme comes out for the first time you think, 'oh, that is a tough start'.

'And then, for a whole week you are just talking about Manchester United. Not the game against City. It is so far away. The whole week has been about Manchester United. Not even Leeds or Liverpool.
'United have got some good players. They have a great squad and great manager.
'Last season we had a tough game away there and it will be tough again on Sunday — but also because they have new players, you don't know what to expect.

'That's the thing with the Premier League that I find so impressive.
'Every team is getting stronger every year. United were 14th last year and you look at that team and think, 'how is that possible?'. Everyone is expecting a lot from them.
Mikel Arteta asked Arsenal stars to vote for club captain as he reveals winner 'by 100 miles'
'Chelsea are looking amazing and there are so many good teams, it is going to be tough for sure.
'That's why it is so important to focus on ourselves and believe in what we can do.

"We can't look at too many teams and what is happening around the league. I don't think that would be good for us or for anyone.'
After finishing as runners-up three years in a row and adding Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, Timber admits the pressure is on Arteta's players.
The Dutchman, 24, said: 'Arsenal have shown that we will always be fighting for the title. Also every year they are trying to strengthen the squad, this summer as well.

Roy Keane launches into ‘garlic bread' rant as Sky Sports capture awkward moment between Marc Guehi and Oliver Glasner
ROY KEANE thinks managers should talk to their players in private rather than hashing things out on the pitch after an awkward moment between Marc Guehi and Oliver Glasner was caught on camera. Crystal Palace boss Glasner appeared to be ignored by Guehi following the Eagles' 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. 8 Roy Keane launched a rant about managers trying to hash things out on the pitch after matches Credit: Sky Sports 8 Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner tried to talk to Marc Guehi on the Stamford Bridge pitch after their 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Sunday Credit: Sky Sports 8 Guehi appeared to ignore his manager and walk down the tunnel Credit: Sky Sports 8 Glasner seemingly spoke to Jean-Philippe Mateta about the situation Credit: Sky Sports 8 The French striker looked back at Guehi after the brief chat Credit: Sky Sports Guehi, who is subject to heavy transfer speculation regarding an exit from Palace, headed straight down the Stamford Bridge tunnel while Glasner tried to get his attention after the game. While teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta even seemed to realise something was off between the pair when shaking hands with Glasner moments later. The uncomfortable moment, which could be related to Guehi's seemingly imminent departure, led Manchester United legend Keane to launch into a rant about managers being on the pitch in the first place. Defending Guehi's decision to head straight down the tunnel, Keane said: "Why has this happened over the last year or two? Adding: "A player has just had a tough match, he's physically exhausted, and the manager is just trying to go and have a little chit-chat knowing that there's talk of him leaving. "As a player you don't want to get involved in that as well. "I've had managers come up after the game and you're going, 'what's up with you? Let's get down the tunnel. That's all come in the last few years. "What happened to years ago when the manager would shake the other manager's hand and walk down the tunnel? Roy Keane clashes with Micah Richards on Sky Sports but fans distracted by Daniel Sturridge "It's the new thing. It's the new garlic bread. Just get down the tunnel, it's just a league match." Keane, who spent five years in management as boss of Sunderland and Ipswich Town, doubled down by claiming he would never have entered the pitch to shake hands during his time in charge. Asked if he would, he replied: "No. Why? You're going to see them in the dressing room afterwards. "It's bad enough that your own manager is shaking your hand, why is the other manager shaking your hand? You're the enemy!" The incident has only fuelled the rumours that Guehi could be heading for the exit door at Selhurst Park before the transfer window shuts. The England international has just one year left on his contract and Palace chiefs would prefer to sell him if they are unable to tie him down to a new deal to avoid him leaving on a Bosman next summer. 8 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW If he is to leave this summer then it appears Liverpool are leading the race for his signature. Speaking after the game, Palace boss Glasner hinted that Guehi and Eberechi Eze - who is rumoured to be joining Tottenham - could both stay put. He said: "It's good advice to the kids to not always believe what you read, especially on the internet. Who knows if the rumours that are written are the truth? "Everybody tells people things for their own advantage. I watch the players every single day in training, if most of the things that are written about them are true, the team couldn't perform like this, be together and committed to each other like they are – it's just not possible. "The 15, 16 players who had the most minutes last year are still here. "There are a lot of rumours about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi but they were 100 per cent with this group in Crystal Palace and they have proved that in a big way.'

Why do Chelsea still not have a shirt sponsor?
Blue is the (unblemished) colour. When Reece James led the home side out for their season opener at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea already stood alone in the Premier League. The Club World Cup winners are the only top-flight team not to feature a sponsor on their kits for the 2025/26 campaign. This is the third-straight year that the big-spending side have eschewed one of the most lucrative income streams for clubs. But why? Because owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital plus you'd imagine their marketing and finance departments are holding out for the absolute top dollar. Chelsea are believed to be targeting a massive pay day on the back of their summer glories in FIFA's expanded global gathering and their return to the Champions League. According to reports, the club is "aiming to strike a deal worth £60m-£65m per season". Nottingham Forest had been the only other holdout among the 20 Premier League clubs but they agreed a partnership with American casino giant Ballys this month, which meant 11 of the 20 top-flight teams have gambling firms emblazoned across the front of their kits. Chelsea are rumoured to be hopeful of a higher-brow partner yet Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's newest airline, have been most strongly linked to a potential deal.

Roy Keane has pointed Mikel Arteta question despite Arsenal win over Man Utd
Former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane has questioned Arsenal's mentality after they settled for a slender 1-0 triumph at Old Trafford. Riccardo Calafiori's strike proved sufficient for the Gunners on this occasion, though such narrow margins may not always deliver the goods. The previous campaign saw Mikel Arteta's men pay a hefty price for surrendering advantageous positions. Arsenal held the lead in seven of their final eight fixtures yet managed just three victories, squandering commanding positions against Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth. "You wonder why Arsenal are still coming up short - it's because they are still happy to sit back at 1-0," Keane remarked on Sky Sports, reports the Mirror. "And then you think, is that the reason you drew so many games last year?". "You compare that to Man City and Liverpool. They are always looking to go on and get the second or the third. Even on a bad day they can score two or three goals." Both Liverpool and City netted four times during the season's opening weekend, though the defending champions were hauled back from 2-0 to 2-2 before eventually overcoming Bournemouth. Keane's observation regarding draws references Arsenal's tally of 14 stalemates in the league, leaving them 10 points adrift of Liverpool despite suffering an identical number of defeats. Fellow pundit Micah Richards praised Arsenal's defensive resilience. Nevertheless, he seemed to suggest that a more adventurous attacking approach might eliminate the necessity for such rearguard actions. "It's how much you can dig deep," Richards said. "What has helped Arsenal stay in title races in recent years is that when they get into that low block, they are very difficult to break down. Then you add in the set-pieces and they are a good team. I would just like to see them be a little more brave." Arsenal manager Arteta harboured no illusions about the standard of his side's performance but remained pleased with the outcome. "We came here away and won which is a big result," the Spaniard said. "We were clearly not at our best. We attacked the box and we reacted well to unusual mistakes. The team reacted time after time in an incredible way. Very proud of that because that is why we got the opportunity to win the game. "We showed a resilience and a will to win. They put you on the ropes here, you will have to have moments when you suffer. To find a way to win at this ground, I'm very happy with the team."
