Heavy rains transformed Mumbai's streets into a makeshift "water park".
Heavy rains once again brought Mumbai to a standstill, as waterlogging engulfed multiple areas across the city. Roads turned into rivers, vehicles were stranded, and the civic administration declared a holiday for government and semi-government offices to prevent chaos. Private offices were also urged to allow employees to work from home, except for essential and emergency services.
While many residents struggled with the disruption, some chose to find humour amid the deluge. Social media was quickly flooded with clips showing Mumbaikars making the most of the heavy rains.
One video captured a Zomato delivery bag floating down a street like a makeshift raft. In another, a group of children splashed through knee-deep water outside a mall, with one boy 'swimming" as if in a pool. Across the city, flooded roads became impromptu playgrounds for kids, turning the chaos into moments of laughter and levity.
The videos, shot in areas like Saki Naka and Kurla, quickly spread across X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. Within an hour, one such clip had already crossed 1,300 views.
Comments poured in, with people mixing humour and frustration over the state of the city.
A user jokingly wrote, 'Essel World mein rahunga main, ghar nahi nahi nahi nahi jaaunga main!!" while another tagged a friend saying, 'Aaja bhai, Mumbai ghuma deta hoon."
In another clip, a few youngsters were seen catching hold of an autorickshaw and being dragged through the water as if enjoying a water ride.
Many viewers hailed it as a true reflection of Mumbai's spirit, while others criticised the authorities for failing to manage the flooding year after year.
