Have you ever been in the middle of eating a bowl of soup and wished it were a beer? Now, thanks to Campbell's and Pabst Blue Ribbon, you can have your beer and eat it, too.
Just in time for soup and football season, the brands have teamed up to create two beer-infused soup flavors that aim to bring together the "craveability of Chunky and the smooth taste of Pabst Blue Ribbon," the companies announced on Monday, Aug. 18.
The two flavors include:
'This is the ultimate flavor collaboration,' Ryan Pawling, senior brand manager for Campbell's Chunky, said in the news release. 'Our fans love bold, unexpected taste experiences, and pairing Chunky's hearty recipes with the iconic, malty flavor of PBR brings something totally unique to the soup aisle.'
The soup flavors will be available exclusively at Walmart, both in stores and online, beginning later this month. As part of the launch, Campbell's and Pabst Blue Ribbon are also embarking on a food truck sampling tour at Walmart stores across the United States for a month beginning Sept. 3.
Progresso's Soup Drops were a huge hit last winter
Another recent soup innovation made huge waves when it dropped last winter.
Progresso in January unveiled Soup Drops, a chicken noodle soup-flavored hard candy drop that resembled a cough drop, and the first batch sold out in under an hour, the company confirmed to USA TODAY at the time.
The company went on to release additional drops weekly throughout January.
The drops, tabbed by Progresso as "soup you can suck on," tasted like broth, savory veggies, soft egg noodles and a hint of parsley, according to the company.
The drops were packaged in a can that looked like a regular Progresso soup can, with 20 individually wrapped candies in each can. Each order came with a can of actual Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup, all for $2.49 plus shipping, according to Progresso.
