Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever aimed to get back above .500 early in the 2025 WNBA season, doing so without All-WNBA guard Caitlin Clark.

On Tuesday, the Fever (4-4) traveled to Atlanta for the second time this year, facing Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream (5-3).
Entering the game, Boston had recorded 245 assists over her three-year career with Indiana. With 9:09 remaining in the third quarter, the former South Carolina center found Kelsey Mitchell for a 17-foot pull-up jumper, marking her fifth assist of the night and the 250th of her career.
In doing so, Boston has become the second-fastest center in WNBA history to reach 250+ assists per Polymarket Sports, achieving this feat in 89 career games.
To put this into perspective, Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas, who averages 8.0 assists per game this year, didn't reach 250 assists until her 95th game. Clark holds the overall record for fastest to reach 250 assists, doing so in 31 games into her rookie season.

Boston made the WNBA All-Star team in each of her first two seasons with the Fever. Through their first eight games this year, she is averaging 15.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

While Boston has found some success over the past four games, she has yet to score more than 20 points without Clark. With her All-WNBA point guard in the lineup, Boston has reached 20 or more points in two of four games.
Clark suffered a quad strain in a May 24 loss to the New York Liberty, leaving her out for the previous five games. However, she could return for the Fever's next matchup, facing the Liberty once again on Saturday.

Will Caitlin Clark be able to attend more NBA Finals games to root on the Pacers? Let's assume she can only come to home games. They play on Friday at home and, if there's a Game 6, that will be on Thursday, June 19. The Fever have a game at home on Saturday, so maybe she'll be there. And then on the 19th, her WNBA team is on the road against the Valkyries, so I'd say she's a no for that one.

US Open underway with high expectations for Scheffler and a tough test for all
OAKMONT, Pa. (AP) — The first shot of the 125th U.S. Open on Thursday embodied so much of what this championship is about. Matt Vogt, an Indiana dentist who went through 54 holes of qualifying, sent his tee shot soaring into the rough at Oakmont. Vogt, who once caddied at Oakmont before moving on to root canals, managed to use the severe slope of the first fairway for his ball to tumble onto the green for a par. There are high expectations everywhere at the major known as the toughest test in golf — for Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1; for Bryson DeChambeau, the defending champion; and for everyone to face an Oakmont course reputed to be the toughest in the land. 'Oakmont is relentless,' said John Bodenhamer, the chief championships officer at the USGA who sets up the course. 'There's no let up. It's a grind. That's the U.S. Open.' The USGA is particularly fond of Oakmont, a big reason why the U.S. Open returns to his course for a record 10th time. It has been on the minds of all 156 players — from Scheffler and Masters champion Rory McIlroy to the 15 amateurs, and for the 16 players, like Vogt, who had to make it through 18 holes of local qualifying and then 36 holes.
