Although the suspect in a firearm discharge in Petawawa in March remains at large, the investigation of that incident has led this past week to the arrest of eight other individuals and the seizure of more than $2.5 million worth of illegal drugs, police say.
Police searches were conducted at locations in both Ontario and Quebec on Thursday, June 5, with the eight suspects being subsequently charged with a total of 47 offences, said an Ontario Provincial Police news release posted on Saturday.
Items seized by police during the investigation included:
A 9-millimetre handgun with the serial number removed;
Two replica handguns
Ammunition
17,000 suspected methamphetamine tablets
15.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine
12.3 kilograms of suspected fentanyl
124 grams of suspected crack cocaine
3,000 suspected hydromorphone tablets
112 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamin
Jewelry valued at $150,000
More than $264,000 in Canadian currency
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 22, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the OPP responded to a report of a firearm discharge in the hallway of an apartment building on Wolfe Avenue in Petawawa. The shooter reportedly fled on foot.
Saturday's news release said the investigation later revealed that the residence, which was occupied, had been mistakenly targeted. No injuries were reported.
The OPP said the person of interest in that investigation may be in the Montreal area. He was described as a white male 30-40 years of age and standing approximately five feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. They were wearing a dark-coloured medical mask, a dark jacket and dark pants.
The investigation by the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment's crime unit is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit. The release said additional support was provided by Gatineau Police, Sûreté du Quebec, Ottawa Police Service, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau and OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau.

Cops posing as kids online lead to arrest of 36 men across Ontario in provincewide child luring investigation

Thirty-six men across the province are facing a combined 128 charges after police posed as children online during a two-week sexual exploitation investigation. According to Ontario Provincial Police, investigators from 21 participating police forces 'utilized undercover techniques' to access online chat rooms and social media applications in order to identify, locate and arrest suspects looking to sexually exploit children. 'You wouldn't leave your child alone in a city, don't let them navigate the online world alone.' - Detective Staff Sergeant Tim Brown, Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy 36 arrests, 128 charges laid, 9 victims identified during a proactive luring project,… The luring investigation ran from March 31 to April 11, leading to the arrest of 36 men between the ages of 18 and 73. Travis Decker's Alleged Search History From Before Death of Children Revealed

Travis Decker's search history contained a lot of questions about moving to Canada just before his daughters went missing ... according to the U.S. Marshals Service. In a new affidavit filed earlier this week, Deputy Keegan Stanley of the U.S. Marshals Service explains officers obtained Decker's search history around the time the warrant for his arrest was issued. On May 26, 2025, Stanley writes Decker allegedly searched several questions including ... "'how does a person move to canada', 'how to relocate to canada', and "jobs canada." As you know ... a manhunt for Decker began in Washington this week after police accused him of murdering his three daughters -- Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5. The three girls likely died by asphyxiation according to reports ... and cops say their bodies were found near a campground in Chelan County, WA -- one Travis allegedly visited the day before they died. Decker has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, and one count of kidnapping. Strange video has surfaced of Decker seemingly running his hands up and down the door of an unknown residence and feeling the doorknob just days before the deaths of his kids ... it's not clear exactly why he's doing this. Despite ongoing efforts by law enforcement, Decker -- who has military training and extensive outdoor expertise, according to police -- has not been captured yet.
