NEWCASTLE are set to rekindle their interest and launch another bid for England defender Marc Guehi.
However, the Toon are £10million short of Crystal Palace's valuation, according to reports.

The Times claims the Eagles are holding out for £50m for their star centre-back.
Guehi has just one year left to run on his contract.
And SunSport understands the defender may well stay at the club - along with Eberechi Eze - this summer, in spite of being in demand.
Newcastle had three bids for Guehi rejected last year, while Tottenham saw a £70m offer turned down in January - months before the Eagles won the FA Cup.

Liverpool were believed to be leading the race to sign Guehi this summer as part of their major spending spree to bolster their defence, particularly with Real Madrid sniffing around Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds also value Guehi at around £40m, given the length of time left on his contract.
But Newcastle's interest suggests they may have leapfrogged the Reds in the hunt for the in-demand defender.
The Magpies welcomed Alexander Isak back on Monday after he trained at former club Real Sociedad after attempting to force a move to Liverpool.

The Swedish striker has agreed personal terms with the Reds, but Newcastle rejected a £110m bid.
Isak spent three hours at the training ground before leaving, as he recovers from his injury.

With Isak expected to leave, the arrival of Guehi to shore up the other end would be a major coup.
But SunSport can reveal both Guehi and Arsenal target Eze are potentially set to spend 2025-26 in South London.
The Gunners are seemingly unwilling to trigger the England midfielder's £68m release clause.
With Palace not needing to sell financially, they are unlikely to lower their demands and Arsenal could look at other targets.

The Eagles have not received any firm offers for either player and are in no rush to sell.
This is good news for the club's fans who are still reeling from their European heartbreak and the fact they look set to be demoted into the Conference League.
The club's fans are still stunned at Uefa's decision having qualifed for the Europa League after winning the FA Cup.
Palace's appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will be on Friday.

They were demoted to the third-tier Conference League by Uefa's Club Financial Control Body in a multi-club ownership case.
As things stand, they are set to play the loser of Midtjylland vs Fredrikstad in their Conference League play-off.

Shamrock Rovers missing key players through injury for Ballkani clash in Kosovo

Stephen Bradley is adamant Shamrock Rovers can reach another European League phase - by doing it the hard way. But the Hoops' cause in Kosovo on Thursday won't be helped by the absence of key figures from their will face Ballkani without Graham Burke, Jack Byrne, Matt Healy, Aaron McEneff and Trevor Clarke who all have injury Healy and Clarke are all registered in Rovers' squad that had to be submitted to UEFA for this tie, meaning they can feature in the home leg next week if Byrne and McEneff are not on the UEFA list, so they won't be available for the second-leg at Tallaght Bradley feels there is such strength in depth to his squad these days that the absence of those leading lights doesn't constitute an injury crisis. Their absence just opens the door for the likes of new midfielder Connor Malley - snapped up on loan from Sligo Rovers - who made his debut against Derry on Sunday. Bradley said in Kosovo: 'They're top players and if it was the last game of the season and you're going for the league, or a cup final, I'm sure they would all be available. Aaron McEneff, seen here in action against St Joseph's of Gibraltar in the previous round, is out of Shamrock Rovers' European game in Kosovo (Image: ©INPHO/Ryan Byrne) 'But we're in a position that we've got a really good squad and everybody's ready to play, and we don't need to take silly risks with players.'Last year, we had to do that. We were forced into that because of the injury situation and, as a result, we kept re-injuring the players.'That's not fair on them or the group or the team and right now, we're in a place where the squad is healthy and everybody's looking to play.'We don't need to take chances with players that have niggles or who are borderline fit. We don't need to take those chances and sit on a plane for three-and-a-half hours.'Rovers want to get back to the Conference League league phase, having reached the playoff round in February only to lose on penalties to having missed out on the Premier Division title last season, they don't have the benefit of the 'champions path' in Europe, currently being enjoyed by this tie, and Rovers will be sent packing but Bradley feels the experience his team has gained in Europe will stand to said: 'We knew it was going to be hard but our aim is to get into the group phase, the league phase. Can we do it? Time will tell, but for now it's about getting ready for a tough tie and getting through that.'Shamrock Rovers defender Dan Cleary echoed Bradley, by insisting the players can rise to the challenge of securing another prolonged run in said: 'We don't have the champions path, so it's everything or nothing. Mentally, it's obviously different, but we're still doing the same thing. 'We want to win tonight, bring it back to Tallaght next week and take them on. We can't look too far ahead because it's a big game tonight and these are a good side.' Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email .

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he could have been Ireland manager after Stephen Kenny

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he could have succeeded Stephen Kenny as Ireland boss. The two managers go head-to-head at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday night when St Pat's host Turkish giants Besiktas in the Europa Conference League third qualifying round. Manchester United legend Solskjaer was briefly linked with the vacant Ireland job last year, following Kenny's departure. At the time, the Norwegian played down the links and the FAI ended up appointing Heimir Hallgrimsson as Kenny's successor in July 2024. But on Wednesday evening, Solskjaer confirmed he was in talks about the job. Besiktas boss Solskjaer said: "Yeah, I had some good conversations. But in the end it didn't turn out that way and I'm happy where I am now.' Click this link or scan the QR code to receive the latest League of Ireland news and top stories from the Irish Mirror. If you don't like our community, you can check out any time you like. If you're curious, you can read our Privacy Notice . Asked how far the discussions went with the FAI, he said: 'That would be confidential. We had some good chats. After him (Kenny), the Irish FA asked me if I wanted to be their coach.' Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Tallaght Stadium ahead of St Pat's v Besiktas (Image: ©INPHO/Ryan Byrne) Solskjaer took charge of Besiktas in January this year, but he is under fire following the recent 6-2 aggregate Europa League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk. 'Pressure is a privilege, it's something we thrive on,' said Solskjaer ahead of Thursday's game with 7,000 tickets sold as of Wednesday evening, and heading towards a sellout. 'We need it to play at our best. When results go against you, you don't enjoy that period but it's a chance to show character, show individual character. 'It's a bumpy road football, and you have to manoeuvre it and accept it. If you don't get results, there will be criticism, if you win every day you are still not perfect. 'We're in all these competitions to win every single game and we want to go as far in this one, to the final, that is our dream.' St Pat's boss Stephen Kenny knows his side are big outsiders to progress over two legs and reach the playoffs. Today, ex-Ireland boss Kenny said: 'It would be one of the great victories in Irish football history if we could do it. But obviously it's a big challenge and Beşiktaş have a tremendous tradition and are an institution in Turkey, a big club.' Yet Solskjaer is just as wary of St Pat's, and not least having held their Turkish league rivals Istanbul Basaksehir to a scoreless draw here in Europe last summer. 'If you think we think we are better than them, you're wrong,' he said in Tallaght last night. 'We respect absolutely every opponent, I'm sure they want to win, expect to win. 'Last year they got one step further than this, so I wouldn't call anything a free hit in football anymore.' And former Red Devils striker Solskjaer is up to speed on the threat that teenage striker Mason Melia - who is joining Tottenham in January - possesses. 'When you perform at that level at 17, of course (you notice). We see his movement, his goal against Waterford, the way he spun off a centre back and timed his run,' he added. 'I don't want to put pressure on him, but I always follow young players. I've got a few decent players from Ireland that I played with, so I'm fond of Irish players. 'But he reminds me of a proper No. 9. He can play off the shoulder, he likes to come short as well and he's a good finisher. He's got the world ahead of ahead of him and I wish him all the best, but after the next eight or nine days!.' Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email .
