It would have marked her first public stage appearance in almost a year amid her ongoing battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder.
The singer had even jetted into Basel ahead of the show - but, as the four-hour extravaganza came to end, viewers shared their disappointment that she didn't appear.
One wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "I can't believe I sat through 4 hours of this for Celine to no show."
Another said: "Imagine waiting all night to see Celine Dion and she doesn't even come on."
Someone else added: "I had myself convinced Celine was going to be there, ffs."
A fourth joked towards the ceremony's end: "Just cancel the damn votes and bring on Celine Dion!! I can't take this haha."
Celine has kept a low profile in recent years while undergoing treatment for the condition, which affects the brain and spinal cord and causes severe muscle stiffness and spasms.
Her team previously confirmed she had cancelled all remaining tour dates to focus on her health, with no immediate plans to return to performing.
However, commentator Graham Norton had teased during the BBC One broadcast that he was hopeful she would be there.
The Sun also told this week how her private jet left Paris for Switzerland Thursday morning.
Eurovision fans in tears as Celine Dion makes surprise appearance after health battle
At the time of publication, negotiations were still ongoing and the potential performance had been up in the air due to her turbulent health.
Celine has struggled to sing since she revealed her health struggles in December 2022, although she did give a rare performance at the Paris Olympics last summer.
A Eurovision insider said: 'The team have been talking to Celine about appearing or performing at the ceremony for months and it has been very up and down.
"At one point this week, it looked like she would not be attending, but now it is looking far more likely she will be there.
"Rehearsals have gone ahead without her, but everyone is crossing their fingers.
'It'll be down to the wire.'
Celine sent a video message, shown during Tuesday's semi-final, which appeared to indicate she would not be travelling to the event from her Las Vegas home.
The My Heart Will Go On singer said: 'I'd love nothing more than to be with you in Basel right now. Winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland in 1988 was a life-changing moment for me.
'Music unites us. It is our strength, our support... in times of need.'
What is stiff person syndrome?
Stiff person syndrome or SPS is a condition caused by persistent spasms.
This usually involves multiple muscles, primarily the lower limbs, experts at University College London say.
Most people who develop the illness will receive a diagnosis from the ages of 40-60-years-old.
It's a neurological disease with features of autoimmune conditions.
The first signs would be intermittent spasms which then become continuous.
Other symptoms include:
Minor sensory stimuli (being more sensitive to noise, light and touch)
Severe spasms
Impaired breathing (in advanced cases).
The experts said that spasms don't usually occur during your sleep.
How is it treated?
In most cases people with SPS respond to high doses of diazepam, which is often used as anti anxiety medication.
Pain relievers will also improve the symptoms but these will not cure the disorder.
Many people with SPS will experience falls because they lack defensive reflexes, experts at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke added.

But now she has been replaced by Sophie Monk, who will be familiar to Love Island fans as she hosts the Australian version of the show. It is understood that Maura has not been axed however, and the shake-up is due to scheduling conflicts. An insider teased: "She wasn't able to commit to hosting Aftersun this season due to other work commitments, but she will be back on screen in some capacity later in the run." While it's not confirmed, one fan theory is that she is believed to be filming the US version of The Traitors, following in the footsteps of fellow Love Island star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. It is thought that she may return to host Aftersun for the second season of Love Island Games, which films later this year in Fiji. The cast for the next series of The Traitors USA has yet to be officially confirmed. The Love Island shake-up news was announced last night via an instagram post on the show's official account. Alongside a posed snap of a beaming sofa, the caption read: "Welcome Sophie Monk to the Aftersun family!" Main show host Ariana Madix, who found fame on Vanderpump Rules, shared her excitement over the new hire. "You guys have no idea how much i'm dying over this." Fans were quick to ask where Maura was. It is predicted that it'll bring £520million in for the city a year RAISE THE ROOF Opening date revealed for new 'world-class' 9,000-capacity music venue in Scots city Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE opening date for a new 8,500-capacity music venue in a Scots city has been revealed. We previously told how AEG submitted proposals for a site in the Edinburgh Park area back in November 2023. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 2 The opening date of the new Edinburgh venue has been announced Credit: Getty The firm behind London's iconic O2 Arena is now set to begin work on the venue early in 2026 after confirming funding has been secured. The venue, which will span a 200,000 sq ft site in the Edinburgh Park area, is due to open in March 2028, reports The Herald. And tickets for the first show are expected to go on sale by 2027 according to the £80million project's timeline. It will form part of the Capital's new "urban quarter" being developed in the Edinburgh Park region on the outskirts of the city. The firm has earmarked an area north of the Edinburgh Park tram stop and train station. Branded the Edinburgh Park Arena for the moment, event bosses are hoping to rename the building when a headline corporate sponsor is agreed. It has been predicted to bring in more than £520million for the city's economy year on year. AEG says they have had 'strong interest' in the naming rights for the arena, which is set to become 'one of the UK's most iconic venues" attracting huge names to Edinburgh. The project was approved by Edinburgh city council last year, is expected to attract around 700,000 visitors a year, and create 1300 new jobs once open. Until now, the largest indoor venues in the capital included the 3000-capacity Corn Exchange, while the Usher Hall can fit around 2900 if seats are removed. Travis frontman Fran Healy reveals how festival favourite was almost 'never written' The Royal Highland Centre can also accommodate around 9000 in their largest space, the Highland Hall. Alistair Wood, executive vice-president of real estate and development at AEG Europe, said: 'Securing planning permission last year allowed us to move ahead with our plans, from progressing design work to entering discussions with contractors and sub-contractors. 'We have funding in place, and now we're in the procurement phase. Once we have a final design, suppliers and contractors we'll break ground. We hope to begin construction early in 2026. 'We're excited to start the build process as soon as possible so that we can bring world-class acts to Edinburgh. "We're hoping that the new arena will open its doors during the first quarter of 2028, with fans able to purchase tickets to the first shows during 2027."

Marnie Simpson hits back at trolls after she's mum-shamed for OnlyFans as she vows to keep stripping off while young
The TV star has one thing to say to those cruelly trolling her ONLY FAIR Marnie Simpson hits back at trolls after she's mum-shamed for OnlyFans as she vows to keep stripping off while young Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MARNIE Simpson has admitted her controversial TV career has put her under the spotlight when it comes to mum-shamers over the last decade. But the Geordie Shore reality star, 33, has now insisted that she has 'no regrets' when it comes to her wild and raunchy televised scenes on the hit Paramount+ show. 8 Marnie Simpson admitted her TV career has been 'controversial' Credit: Instagram 8 The reality star said she is not ashamed of stripping of for OnlyFans Credit: Instagram 8 The brunette beauty has hit back at 'judgemental mum-shamers' Credit: Instagram The Newcastle lass exclusively told The Sun: ' I've been judged and mum-shamed for years - I won't bring up my children to be judgemental.' The OnlyFans creator, who joined the adult subscription site in 2022, Marnie said she is proud of her TV career - despite what some trolls may say. Geordie Shore made history as one of UK's wildest TV shows - best known for its chaotic antics, explicit sex scenes, boozy parties and threesomes. But looking back on telly career, which also includes Ex on The Beach and Celebrity Big Brother, Marnie said she has nothing to be ashamed of. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Marnie said: 'I think all my wild nights in my Geordie Shore days were all really crazy but I also had so much fun - I think my 20s were so amazing, I got to do so many amazing things. I got to travel, I got the best experiences, I don't really live with regret.' Marnie was at the center of a number of fiery clashes on Geordie Shore - with one of her most memorable moments being a mother of all cat fights with former co-star Charlotte Crosby after she kissed newcomer Marty McKenna, just hours after he snogged Chloe Ferry. When Marnie first rocked up in series seven, she made a few enemies among the girls when she made a beeline for Scotty T and Gaz Beadle. And in series nine, one the biggest house party fights broke out after she kissed her best mate Kyle Christie to make Aaron Chalmers jealous. And let's not forget the X-rated bedroom sessions that saw her get down and dirty with Gaz, Aaron and even girl pal Chloe Ferry. The pregnant star, who is mum to sons, Rox, five, and Oax, two, with husband Casey Johnson, said she is not concerned about her children seeing her telly past on the internet. Marnie Simpson reveals 'real' reason she quit Celeb SAS - and shares huge regret She shared: 'The way the world is going at the minute, I don't think it will need to be a conversation. 'I feel like my relationship with my family is very open and honest and I think it will be the same with me and my kids. 'I don't keep anything back, they know everything about me and I feel they're going to be brought up to not be judgemental. 'I feel like if anything, the conversations will be about Geordie Shore, not OnlyFans.' The popular TV personality said she would be supportive of whatever career path her children takes, even if it's joining a reality TV show one day. 'I would be happy for my kids doing anything that made them happy, as long as it wasn't hurting other people,' Marnie said. 'Whatever they want to do, I'm going to raise them the best I can until they're 18 and then they can make their own decisions in life, as long as it makes them happy and they're not hurting anyone, they can do what they want.' Since Marnie made her first TV appearance in 2013, her life changed forever and not always for the better. She has been the subject of vile trolls and social media hate, with mum-shamers relentlessly telling her to 'have some respect'. Marnie has been forced to defend her decision to strip off and share sexy lingerie photos on her platform. Marnie insisted she has 'no regrets' when it comes to stripping off for money, saying: 'While I'm young, I'm going to embrace my body and I'm really proud of my body. 'Then why not.. I feel empowered by embracing it.' When it comes to being cruelly trolled, she said: 'I feel like I wouldn't say that's down to OnlyFans, I've been judged and mum-shamed for years because I come from such a controversial reality show. I come from Geordie Shore. 'We've kind of dealt with that for the past 13 years, that's no different to me.' Marnie admitted the world is now moving towards accepting adult content creators - but said she'll always face scrutiny. She said: 'I honestly feel the stigma and taboo is already breaking down. 'As the years go by, it's becoming more normalised [working on adult subscription sites]. 'So many girls and women and ladies are just having that choice for themselves and I think it's really empowering. 'It's such a normal thing now, I think back in the day, there was a lot more stigma around it but I think it's becoming such a global thing now. 'There are so many people worldwide who are on the platform and there is a reason for that. 'I think it's good that no one feels that they can't be on there and that they're judged. 'I definitely like where it's going because no one should have the right to judge others, there shouldn't really be a stigma around it because not everyone is doing the same thing on there - it's each to their own.' Despite not everyone being accepting of this career choice, Marnie is raking in the cash and will be introducing a new OnlyFans YouTube channel in a bid to reach more fans. 'I've enjoyed it because I feel like it's given me a lot of freedom, a lot of confidence, I feel like I get to connect with people on a deeper level,' she shared. 'I love having the freedom of working for myself and choosing how I spend my time, so it works for me perfectly.' Marnie will be able to share more personal and daily updates with fans on the new channel, just months after her In The Real Life series launched on the OnlyFans platform. Marnie, who announced she is expecting a baby girl with singer Casey, said the last few months have been hard physically, but she is excited to jump straight back into her content creating after giving birth. She told us: 'I don't feel at my most confident right this second, I've got to be honest. 'I am six months pregnant and pregnancy isn't really for me - I find it really tough. 'I've been really sick and I've really struggled. 'At this second I don't feel my sexiest, but since reaching my 30s, I've recently felt the most confident within myself, physically, mentally, emotionally. 'I've just felt so strong and strong minded and my best.' The star had a very difficult first birth and while pregnant with her second child she insisted she would not have any more. She said at the time: 'I would not go to three,' she said. 'I think you've got to find the balance for yourselves. "We want to enjoy our lives as well. We've not waited too long to have kids and I feel like having two, we can give them the best life possible.' Marnie previously described her first labour, which lasted 28 hours, as traumatic and insisted on having a c-section the second time round. Marnie was diagnosed with a chronic UTI in 2016 and after giving birth to baby Rox in 2019, her symptoms began to get a lot worse. Marnie got engaged to X Factor singer Casey back in 2020, and they wed in May 2023. The pair met on the show Single AF in 2017. They confirmed their relationship just a few months after the show ended - a move that is against show rules but it didn't seem to worry the smitten love-birds. 8 Marnie said she is not afraid of her kids seeing her TV past Credit: MTV 8 Geordie Shore made history as one of UK's wildest TV shows Credit: MTV 8 The OnlyFans creator joined the adult subscription site in 2022 Credit: Instagram 8 The TV star said she still faces scrutiny for her career choice Credit: Instagram
