Anupam Kher To NDTV: " Tanvi The Great Is My Autistic Niece's Story"
In an interview with NDTV, Anupam Kher shared Tanvi The Great is a personal story as it draws inspiration from his maternal niece named Tanvi who has autism.
"This is a personal story. Tanvi is my maternal niece who is autistic. I was once here in Gurugram to attend my cousin's wedding. Tanvi was 13 at the time. People were singing and dancing, they were having a lot of fun.
"But Tanvi was standing all alone and looking at a mountain. I asked her, 'Tanvi, what are you doing?' And she said, 'I'm looking at my world'. That was a very heavy statement. I didn't understand what her world was or maybe she wasn't able to make me understand what she was trying to say. That's how the seed of the story took root," the actor-filmmaker said.
Anupam Kher, who has co-written the film along with Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit, said Tanvi The Great is an entertaining film with great music.
"We don't have tears in our eyes when we watch the film... It's not the tragic story of an autistic girl but because through her we get to witness goodness, honesty, and joy," he added.
The film, produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), has music by Oscar winner MM Keeravaani and lyrics by Kausar Munir.
Tanvi The Great also stars Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nassar, and Iain Glen of Game of Thrones fame.

Diljit Dosanjh continues to remain in the spotlight as controversy brews over the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in his upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3. He went on to use an analogy to explain his stance: 'I'd say, 'You slapped my father but you sing very well, you play very good tabla, so you come and perform at my house.' But I wouldn't be able to do that. I am not that great. I won't hit him back, but I won't give him the right… The rule that I practice at my home, I practice in my country. I am not that great that I could see my family get hit or see my sister's sindoor get destroyed for art. Those who can do so, they have all the freedom.' Speaking to Times Now, she said: 'I have said enough about these people who are… We need to have a sentiment of nation building. Everybody is a stakeholder. Why don't we have that sentiment? Why is one Diljit having his own path? Why are our cricketers having their own friendships?' For those unfamiliar with the controversy, Sardaar Ji 3 features Hania Aamir in a prominent role. Her inclusion has sparked outrage as it comes in the wake of the 2024 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Since the 2016 Uri attack, Indian film bodies have enforced an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists working in Indian productions. As a result of the casting, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has reportedly imposed a ban on Diljit Dosanjh, barring him from participating in Indian film projects. Despite this, the actor is currently shooting for his next film Border 2 and is reportedly in discussions for future projects. In response to the backlash, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 have stated that the film was shot before the Pahalgam attack and assured that they will refrain from working with Pakistani actors in the future.

B Saroja Devi: Veteran actor who was an iconic face in cinema landscape of the country
B Saroja Devi, one of the most iconic faces of Indian cinema across Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies, died in Bengaluru on Monday at the age of 87. She had been suffering from age-related health issues. Born on January 7, 1938 in Bengaluru, B Saroja Devi was awarded Padma Shri in 1967 and Padma Bhushan in 1992 (HT photo) Often remembered as the 'first female superstar' of Kannada films, Saroja Devi began her acting journey at the age of 17 with Mahakavi Kalidasa in 1955. Over the next seven decades, she appeared in more than 200 films and left a mark on audiences across the country. Born on January 7, 1938 in Bengaluru, she was awarded Padma Shri in 1967 and Padma Bhushan in 1992. She also received the Kalaimamani award, the Dr Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award, and the NTR National Award in both 2001 and 2009. In 2008, the Government of India honoured her with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 60th Independence Day celebrations. Her Kannada roles in Kittur Chennamma, Babruvahana, Mallammana Pavada, Kasturi Nivasa, Naagakannike and Bettada Hoovu earned her widespread acclaim. She was popularly called Abhinaya Saraswathi, or Goddess of Acting, for her expressive style. A memorable line she delivered in Kittur Chennamma — 'Nimage yaake kodabeku naavu kappa' — translated as 'Why should we pay you a tribute' became a fixture in school stage performances across Karnataka, with many students dressing as Rani Chennamma, a popular freedom fighter, to recite it. Her onscreen pairing with MG Ramachandran (MGR) in Tamil cinema became a sensation. After these successes, Saroja Devi was seen as a top star in the Tamil industry and, for a time, considered too expensive for Kannada filmmakers. Her work in Telugu films began with Panduranga Mahatyam in 1957. She went on to star in films such as Jagadeka Veeruni Katha, Seetharama Kalyana, Shakuntala, Pramilaanjaneyam, Rahasyam alongside ANR, and Daagudu Moothalu with NT Rama Rao. Many of these were based on mythology or folklore. In Hindi, she acted in films like Paigham, Preet Na Jaane Reet, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Opera House and Sasural. Her last screen appearance was in the 2019 film Natasaarvabhowma.
