"This new chapter is an important milestone in my career. It offers me the opportunity to lead an authentic, design-driven brand that masterfully blends history and innovation. I'm truly honored to take on this role and contribute to Napapijri 's next phase of growth and global expansion," Valentina Visconti Prasca announced on Linkedin, in relation to her new role as president of the VF Group's lifestyle brand inspired by the outdoor world.
Visconti Prasca, former general manager of the Yoox digital platform, is leaving Milan, Italy, for Stabio, Switzerland, the European headquarters of the American group that also owns The North Face, Dickies and Vans. The former head of Italy for Vente-Privée (Veepee) between 2009 and 2017 also reorganized and managed the Italian publishing company Betterly, part of the De Agostini group.
In joining Napapijri, she joins a company in the midst of a major transformation within a group that has undergone extensive reorganization in recent months. Visconti Prasca takes over from Silvia Onofri, who left to head up the high-end Miu Miu brand in February.
"In my 15-year career as an executive, I've had the privilege of working in dynamic sectors, from luxury fashion to cutting-edge digital industries. Each experience has deepened my passion for brand strategy, digital transformation, and building diverse, high-performance teams," she explained.
"What excites me most about Napapijri is its bold and unexpected spirit. I look forward to collaborating with its talented team to push boundaries and create a lasting and meaningful impact."

Flights cancelled in Brussels amid strike over proposed pension reform

Transport services were severely disrupted in Belgium as general strikes took place nationwide over the proposed federal reforms and cuts to pensions. Departure flights in Brussels Airport, also known as Zaventem, were cancelled as security and airport personnel participated in the strikes. The country's main airport only received 103 incoming flights. 261 flights were originally set to land at the airport. Further south of the city, Charleroi, a major European hub for low cost airlines like Ryanair, preventively cancelled all its flights on Wednesday, citing a lack of staff. All flights were grounded for the day. 'Passengers scheduled to fly via Charleroi on 25 June will be contacted by their airline for a rebooking or refund. We regret the impact of this national strike on our passengers' travel plans and apologise for any inconvenience caused,' said Charleroi Airport in a statement on their website. 'I have to wake up at six. I have to come here. I have to wait. I don't know what is going on. It's the first time for me, that kind of situation. And I'm a little bit shocked, to be honest,' said a traveller. The coming days are expected to be extremely busy in Brussels' two airports as airlines scrambled to rebook passengers affected by the strikes on the next flights. Zaventem airport expects to process around 90,000 passengers per day for the coming few days. 'Tomorrow will be a lot busier than initially anticipated 12,000 extra passengers and also Friday we have 2,000 more passengers than initially anticipated. So it will be busy days at the airport, also with the holiday exodus so is especially important to get to the airport on time,' said Ihsane Chioua Lekhli, spokesperson for Brussels Airport. This is the fifth major strike to take place this year to oppose what protesters called unacceptable proposed reforms to the pension bill. The federal government had planned to scrap a special pension scheme and unify retirement age for all civil servants – to 66 – to make it in line with that of the private sector. The proposal has enraged many workers and trade unions, who concurrently organised several major protests around the country. 'I feel very bad that half-way through our career they are going to reform our pension and that we are going to have less pension. And that we're probably going to buy tanks and other things to wage war with that money instead,' said a protester with the Christian union. Flemish nationalist Bart De Wever was appointed prime minister in early February after months of coalition talks following Belgium's federal elections in June of last year. The government says pension reforms are needed as the rising life expectancy is causing costs to soar in a country already grappling with a large federal budget deficit which is in violation of European Union rules. Brussels, a NATO member, has also pledged to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, in line with the new NATO targets adopted on Wednesday in the summit in The Hague.

Glossier CEO Kyle Leahy departs

U.S. cult beauty brand Glossier announced on Tuesday its chief executive officer Kyle Leahy will step down from the top spot by year-end. Leahy took on the CEO role at the New York-based Glossier three years ago, when the executive replaced founder, Emily Weiss, who had helmed her brand since its inception in 2014. A retail veteran, Leahy first joined Glossier in November of 2021, where she served as chief commercial officer, before her promotion to company CEO in May 0f 2022. Prior to that, she spent nine years at American fashion brand Cole Haan serving in varying roles, after cutting her apparel teeth as an analyst at Nike. 'Over three years ago, Emily [Weiss] and I shared exciting news about Glossier's next chapter, and I was honored to step into my role as CEO of the company she built,' Leahy said in note to Glossier employees on Tuesday, as cited by WWD. 'Today, we have reached a new chapter defined by scale, profitability and brand strength. With that foundation in place, the board and I believe this is the right moment to bring in the next CEO to lead this new phase of growth.' Leahy will remain on the Glossier board through 2026, and will assist in finding her successor. Under Leahy, the buzzy cosmetics brand entered Sephora in 2023, across the U.S. and Canada, and promoted Marie Suter to the role of chief creative director the same year. More recently, Leahy was also instrumental in leading the expansion of Glossier's fragrance business. 'I am so grateful for Kyle's leadership and stewardship of Glossier over these past three-plus years,' said Weiss. "She deeply understands how unique and special this brand is, and was exactly the right person to serve as our CEO as we looked to evolve our business model for sustainability and profitability, and scale our brand. Glossier was always built to be more than just one person — more than me, more than Kyle — and I am excited to partner with her to find our next leader.'
