Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation."The board also confirmed that Haider is receiving legal assistance "to protect his rights throughout this process". Once legal proceedings conclude and all facts have been established, the PCB reserves the right to take further action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary.Haider, who made his international debut in 2020, has represented Pakistan in two One-Day Internationals and 35 T20 Internationals. "Vira Kohli and Rohit Sharma do not fit in our plans for the ODI World Cup 2027," the report quoted a source from the team management as saying. The report even claimed that the duo wanted to be a part of the England tour but were informed by the selectors that they are unlikely to be picked. Hence, they decided to announce their retirement from the format. With India's next ODI assignment being against Australia in October, the report claims that the series might see the iconic duo bring curtains to their international careers, as a return to domestic cricket at this stage seems highly unlikely. The success of Shubman Gill, India's Test captain, in the recently concluded series in England, has also strengthened the selection committee's belief in him as a long-term skipper. There are many who see Gill as India's all-format captain in the long run. With many youngsters making their mark in the team, the selectors might just decide to persist with fresh talent for the ODI World Cup in 2027. While transition in T20Is and Tests has been successfully made, the same is expected to be witnessed in the one-day format. The developments, hence, leave Kohli and Rohit in a precarious situation.

Bumrah missed the Edgbaston and Oval Tests in India's recent five-match series in England due to injury concerns. The team management had already confirmed this before the start of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. Bumrah underwent back surgery earlier this year after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. He missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and a chunk of IPL 2025 because of the injury. Many fans were not happy with his statement. One user wrote, 'Sandeep Patil averaged 36 with the bat in Tests and 24 in ODIs. He is talking like he was Steve Waugh and Allan Border type of player. No player should 'die' for his country. This isn't war and the player isn't a soldier. This jingoism bullshit needs to stop.' Another said, 'The number of matches played during Sandeep's era and ensure as chairman of selectors vs. today is night & day… can't compare….' A third fan commented, 'Some of these former cricketers really spew nonsense. It's a blessing that Bumrah is still playing after a slew of stress back fractures. IGP reviews upper Assam's security ahead of I-Day
Dibrugarh: IGP (security) Imdadul Bora on Friday evening chaired a high-level security review meeting at Dibrugarh Police guest house to evaluate safety measures of critical infrastructure in five upper Assam districts — Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo — ahead of Independence Day celebrations in the district. The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including IGP (operations) Jitmol Doley, IGP (northeast range) Satya Raj Hazarika and Dibrugarh SSP Rakesh Reddy.
