Profitable Gym Franchise Models in 2025

The fitness industry in India is entering a golden phase, and 2025 looks even more promising. With increasing health awareness, urbanization, and digital access to fitness trends, gym franchises are booming. However, not all franchise models are equally profitable. If you're planning to invest in a gym business, it's crucial to evaluate the model that suits your market and goals.
1. Budget Gym Franchise Models
These models target tier 2 and tier 3 cities where affordability is key. The investment is relatively low, ranging from ₹20 to ₹35 lakhs, and they offer basic strength and cardio setups. While margins might not be very high, volume compensates, especially with affordable memberships and low monthly maintenance costs.
2. Mid-Range Gym Franchises
Ideal for metros and affluent urban neighborhoods, mid-range models require ₹40 to ₹60 lakhs in initial investment. These gyms typically include branded interiors, professional trainers, group classes, and value-added services like BMI scanning and personalized plans.
ROI is faster in this category due to higher membership pricing and diversified income from personal training, merchandise, and dietary consultations.
3. Premium or Boutique Fitness Studios
Catering to elite clientele, boutique gyms focus on specialized offerings like HIIT, CrossFit, MMA, or yoga fusion. The investment can go up to ₹1 crore, but the per-member value is also much higher. These are profitable when located in premium areas with demand for exclusivity.
This model thrives on brand image, Instagram-worthy interiors, and community-driven fitness experiences.
4. Women-Only Gyms
This niche model is rapidly growing. Women-focused spaces provide a comfortable and empowering environment for fitness. Startup costs are often moderate—₹25 to ₹40 lakhs—and the operational expenses are lean. Monthly retention rates are usually strong due to loyalty and trust.
Including amenities like crèche facilities or female trainers can boost your value proposition in this segment.
5. 24/7 Gyms and Tech-Enabled Models
With increasing demand for flexibility, 24/7 gyms are now gaining traction in metros. These models depend heavily on technology—automated check-ins, AI-driven workouts, CCTV access control, etc. While they require a higher initial tech investment (₹50–₹70 lakhs), operational efficiency is high due to limited staff.
Appealing to millennials and Gen Z, these models bring in higher long-term profitability through memberships and digital upgrades.
Which Franchise Model is Best for You?
Your ideal model depends on:– City type and demographic– Your initial capital– Preferred customer base– Facility size and location
Always research competitors in your area, assess demand, and talk to existing franchisees before making a decision. A successful gym isn't just about shiny equipment—it's about experience, retention, and customer trust.
Why Plus Fitness is a Proven Profitable Model

'Skibidi,' 'tradwife' and 'broligarchy' are among the latest additions to the Cambridge Dictionary. Do you know what these words mean?

You're not delulu, the English language just got a little more skibidi after the Cambridge Dictionary added thousands of words over the last 12 months. These include words popularized by social media, celebrities, Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Among the 6,212 new words added are delulu, lewk, skibidi and tradwife — and Gen Alpha, meaning those born between 2010 and 2024. 'Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary,' Colin McIntosh, a program manager at Cambridge Dictionary, said in a statement this week. "We only add words where we think they'll have staying power.' If you're still confused, you're not alone. Here's what some of the newly added words and terms mean, according to Cambridge Dictionary. Broligarchy: It combines the words 'bro' and 'oligarchy' and is defined as "a small group of men, especially men owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely rich and powerful, and who have or want political influence." The term has been used to describe America's tech leaders, like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Delulu: It's a play on the word 'delusional' and means "believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to." Inspo: The word popularized on social media is short for 'inspiration.' It's defined as 'something, especially something posted on the internet, that gives you ideas for doing something or that makes you want to do something.' Lewk: It's a playful twist on the word 'look,' and means 'a particular style, fashion, or outfit, especially one that is unusual and impressive.' It's often used on social media or in fashion journalism and was made popular by the reality TV show RuPaul's Drag Race. Mouse jiggler: A rise in remote work culture prompted this phrase, which means 'a device or piece of software used to make it seem as though you are working when you are not.' Skibidi: The slang term has different meanings, like 'cool' or 'bad,' or it can be used with no real meaning at all. The word was coined by the creator of an animated YouTube series called 'Skibidi Toilet,' and the phrase became popular on social media. Tradwife: It's a shortened word for 'traditional wife' and is defined as 'a married woman, especially one who posts on social media, who stays at home doing cooking, cleaning, etc. and has children that she takes care of.' It represents a growing, controversial social media trend that embraces traditional gender roles. The internet has crowned Hannah Neeleman of @ballerinafarm the queen of tradwives. Neeleman has over 10 million followers on Instagram and lives on a farm in Utah with her eight children, helps run the farm, cooks meals from scratch and competes in beauty pageants. Gen Z Woman Sees Rash on Arm After Swimming in Pool, Then Comes Diagnosis

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Gen Z woman returned from vacation with more than just memories—what she believed was a chlorine rash was something else entirely Reddit user u/survivorsavedmylife from New England came back from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with a rash on her left arm. On August 17, she shared a photos titled: "What was supposed to be a nice vacation turned into me developing a chlorine rash after swimming." "The rash started off as small and resembled hives:" she told Newsweek. "We had just gone swimming before so I assumed it must've been from the chlorine since some people are sensitive. Two screenshots from the viral post showing the rash on the woman's arm and a close up of the cluster. Two screenshots from the viral post showing the rash on the woman's arm and a close up of the cluster. Reddit/u/survivorsavedmylife "What I didn't know was that chlorine rashes usually occur on both sides of the body, where it gets in between the bathing suit." The story post went viral, earning 9,800 upvotes and over 1,000 comments at the time of writing. The 22-year-old explained that the rash clusters on her arm had been spreading for three days. While she first assumed it was from the pool, Reddit users were quick to suggest otherwise. From Rash to Diagnosis Less than 24 hours later, she posted an update: the rash was not caused by chlorine but shingles. According to her post, her primary care physician initially suspected poison ivy or shingles and recommended she take an antihistamine until her appointment the next day. However, after looking more closely at the photos, he called back with a more certain answer. "He rang back and was 90 percent sure it was shingles," she wrote. When she visited the office, the doctor turned her case into a live teaching moment. "I saw him this morning and he brought 3 of his PAs to see my arm as a 'teaching moment' she said. 'They were shocked!'" What Is Shingles? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explains that shingles, or herpes zoster, is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. The rash typically develops on one side of the body or face and forms blisters that scab over in 7–10 days, usually healing within two to four weeks. While shingles is more common in older adults, it can cause persistent nerve pain as a long-term complication. That said, this complication is uncommon in people under 40. Despite this, the poster added: "I have nerve pain but am still [OK] to go out and run errands." Is Shingles Contagious? Shingles itself is not directly contagious. However, the varicella-zoster virus can spread: You cannot catch shingles directly from someone with shingles. If you've never had chickenpox or the vaccine, you can catch chickenpox from someone with shingles, which could later lead to shingles. The virus spreads primarily through direct contact with blister fluid or, less commonly, inhaling particles from the rash. People with chickenpox are more contagious than those with shingles. Reddit Reacts The woman thanked Reddit users who had suspected shingles before her doctor confirmed the diagnosis. Others on the platform shared their own stories of receiving medical advice from the online community. One user commented: "I posted on a different subreddit last year if I should see my gp about this weird stomach pain I had and described it, and people told me to go to the ER cause it sounded like appendicitis. Turns out it was! I was very grateful for them." Another person revealed the original post helped them recognize their own case of shingles: "This is insane, I saw your post last night and saw all the comments, and the thing is I had a rash I'd been dealing with a couple days that I thought was just poison oak... but it was more painful and just... different. Because of your post I went to urgent care today and guess what? I got shingles too. Thank you for your post or I might have missed the window too. Insane that I just happened to see your post when I most needed it."
