Family targeted in gang war demand to be left in peace as new images of masked hoods emerge

Daily Record13-05-2025

Terrifying new images show the masked thugs who left a white Land Rover Defender engulfed in flames at the plush Edinburgh home of David McMillan, 54, last week.
A family targeted in Scotland's gang war have demanded to be left in peace as terrifying new images reveal the masked hoods who torched their car.
A white Land Rover Defender was engulfed in flames at the plush Edinburgh home of David McMillan, 54, last week after his family returned from a shopping trip.

Firebombers had already attacked McMillan's home weeks earlier, while children slept inside.

Now chilling images obtained by the Daily Record show brazen thugs setting the motor alight.
A source close to the McMillans yesterday condemned the attacks - saying the family have no part in the 'disgusting' gang war putting their lives under threat.
A source close to the family said: 'These are the faces of the scumbags who carry out these crimes.
'This family has nothing to do with this disgusting war.'
In another gangland attack thugs linked to the Tamo Junto (TMJ) crime gang targeted a property in Edinburgh on Saturday.

The attacks are being co-ordinated by a Mr Big in Dubai - who can't be named for legal reasons.
TMJ have claimed credit for a string of attacks on properties linked to associates of jailed Edinburgh coke kingpin Mark Richardson and the Glasgow based Daniel clan as the turf war continues to escalate.
The gangland feud is believed to have been started after a £500k stash of cocaine was bought from the Dubai- based Mr Big - but paid for with fake notes.

Mr Big has waged a relentless war on the Daniel clan and Richardson's mob since March.
We previously told how the McMillan family, including grandkids, were at the house at the time of Thursday's attack at the £1.2million home in the upmarket Craiglockhart area of Edinburgh.

A man wearing a black balaclava and black jacket was filmed running from the scene as the Land Rover bursts into flames.
While a later video shows the fire service turning up to tackle the blaze as the vehicle is well alight.
One of the videos was released by the so-called Tamo Junto group.

Now, new images from sources close to the family, clearly show one of the thugs using a petrol can to douse fuel over two cars parked on the driveway while another masked thug in a dark jacket and light trousers looks on.
The source branded the attackers 'scumbags', saying they had put children at risk.
Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said it had been a 'reckless' and 'targeted' attack, adding: 'It is fortunate that no one was injured.'

Three suspects dressed in dark-coloured clothing were reported to have left the area in a black hatchback vehicle along Greenbank Drive at about 7.45pm.
The property was also targeted on April 17 when two masked thugs set the front door on fire while children slept inside.

The feud started in Edinburgh in March with a number of firebombings at properties linked to Richardson, but moved to Glasgow last month with the Daniel clan being targeted.
After a lull in the violence the war erupted again last week when a social media account was created mocking Mr Big and his TMJ gang.
In the latest incident, terrifying footage shows masked thugs smashing windows of the property in Edinburgh at around 6pm on Saturday.

The yobs forced open the door and smashed windows and items inside the property. No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
Richardson's brother, Dale, was targeted last Monday morning when his house in the capital was vandalised.

Police Scotland have vowed to crack down on the gang wars and charged six men with a variety of offences yesterday following a series of dawn raids on Friday morning.
A house in Barlanark, in Glasgow 's east end, was targeted by officers armed with a circular saw-type power tool and batons at 5am.
Officers hacked at a full-length window before storming the semi-detached house and seizing two suspects from within.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry said issued a warning to those fuelling the gang war, saying 'violence will not be tolerated and will not stop until we bring those responsible for this criminality to justice'.
He said the force was 'working tirelessly to build cases' and are following a number of significant lines of enquiry.
A total of 32 people have now been arrested in relation to their investigation, which focuses on the suspected gang feud.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court staff confiscate over 200 'bladed weapons' in past year

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info More than 200 bladed weapons were confiscated from people entering Edinburgh Sheriff Court in the past year. Figures obtained through a Freedom of Information request show guns, bullets and 2,000 blades are among the deadly haul of weapons brought into Scottish courts in the last year. Security staff seized 1,258 bladed items and 815 knives at courthouse checkpoints between April 2024 and March this year. Edinburgh's Sheriff Court was the second worst affected building in Scotland, with more than 200 bladed weapons and 119 knives found by security staff at checkpoints between April 2024 and March this year. The data, obtained by our sister title the Daily Record, did not reveal which types of knives were seized or whether the blades were over three inch legal limit for carrying in public. Glasgow Sheriff Court takes the unwanted place at the top of the weapons list with 278 blades seized and 123 knives. The worst month was October 2024 where a total of 40 bladed articles and 16 knives were seized. The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) said they take the safety of all court users "very seriously" and security crews alert police when attempts to smuggle in weapons are made. However knife crime charity, the Ben Kinsella Trust, branded the grim statistics as "deeply alarming". Chief executive Patrick Green said: "The large number of bladed articles seized at the entrance of court buildings is deeply alarming. "What's especially concerning is that the prospect of a search isn't deterring individuals, which points to a worrying normalisation of knife carrying." Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sentstraight to your messages. Blades have also made their way into Scotland's two High Courts where the country's most serious crimes are tried. The data shows that 174 bladed articles were taken from individuals at Glasgow High Court, whilst 51 knives were confiscated. In the capital, Edinburgh High Court has a much reduced rate of sharp weapons entering the building. Only six bladed articles were confiscated whilst 22 knives were seized.. Some data from the country's smaller courts were not available. A spokesperson for Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service said: "SCTS takes the safety of all court users very seriously. We constantly review security issues and share those outcomes with our justice partners, including Police Scotland, in order to take all reasonable precautions against weapons being introduced into court buildings. "Any item which is considered to be a potential risk to public safety will be confiscated on entering a court building and the discovery of weapons or potential weapons is immediately reported to the police." A Scottish Violence Reduction Unit spokesperson said: "There is no place for weapon-carrying in Scotland and we should not accept it. "We must continue to work together across all services to tackle the root causes of weapon-carrying to address the problem."
