After showing off a prototype smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery back in May, Realme is set to unveil an actual device with an even larger battery.
In a post on X, the Chinese manufacturer teased a phone with a larger than 10,000 mAh battery. Realme will be divulging more details on the phone on August 27. It is expected to use a similar silicon-anode battery technology found on the Realme GT 7 10,000 mAh phone.
The company also posted a teaser video with Realme Vice President Chase Xu talking about redefining limits. However, the video doesn't reveal any details about the upcoming phone.
Despite packing a 10,000 mAh battery, the concept phone shown back in May was only 8.5mm thick and weighed a tolerable 215g. It'll be exciting to see what Realme has in store for us now and whether the technology will actually make it to global markets. Realme GT 7 5G 256GB 12GB RAM $ 779.00

Realme will showcase the new phone at the upcoming 828 Fan Festival, which is scheduled for August 27. During last year's event, the company unveiled its 320W fast charging technology, which is claimed to fully charge a 4,400 mAh battery in less than 5 minutes.

The company thinks that users wouldn't want to carry more than their smartphones, especially when wearing a watch, earbuds, and glasses. Shakil Barkat, Vice President of Devices and Services at Google, August 2025 That's an interesting insight, but tablets aren't exactly devices you carry with you all the time. Foldables are still too expensive to count on them as a tablet replacement, so there's a gap in Google's offerings, which the company doesn't seem interested in filling. After Galaxy Z Fold 7, Apple has begun losing to Samsung in the U.S.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Samsung listening to feedback and making an excellent foldable smartphone this year has done wonders for the company. The stunningly pretty — and really powerful too — Galaxy Z Fold 7 has helped Samsung skyrocket its market share across the world, including in the to a recent report, Samsung's market share for the second half of the year in the States has risen to 31 percent. During this same time last year, with the release of the bulky Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung had only seen an increase of 23 percent. Furthermore, Apple's strong grip has slid down from 56 percent to 49 percent during this time. That is a steep fall, especially for a company that was recently losing market share in China as well. The rapid decline in interest by Chinese consumers had to be rectified by doing something that Apple normally never does: introduce discounts on the iPhone 16. Analysts believe that Apple's decline in the U.S. has two contributing factors. First, the new Galaxy foldables — especially because of how good they are — have given consumers a reason to switch to Samsung. Second, the volatility of President Trump's tariffs may have affected iPhone sales as well. Though, personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in that being the case. The iPhone 17 Pro is reportedly seeing a $50 increase in price. | Image credit — PhoneArena Samsung's previous foldables had been lagging behind compared to competitors. So much so, in fact, that the company actually introduced a newer model — the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE — in China, to better compete with domestic offerings in the market. This model would then go on to get a few more upgrades, like the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and be re-released as the Fold 7 that we all know and love. The Galaxy Z Fold 7's success proves that, if Samsung offers a competent product, consumers will flock to the Galaxy brand. This holds especially true if said consumers were already Android users prior. Now, all that remains to be seen is whether the foldable iPhone will be able to compete…whenever it comes out.
