Jia De Guzman reflects on silver medal finish of Alas Pilipinas

A day after Alas Pilipinas bagged a silver medal in the AVC Nations Cup, team captain Jia De Guzman shared her reflection on the team's journey and the meaning of the said feat.
The Philippines fell to host country Vietnam in straight sets in the finals on Saturday.
"It takes time and loads of patience to build a culture that focuses more on the journey & growth over immediate results. Where other people only see wins or losses, achievements or failures, perfection or mistakes...we see ALL of it as necessary parts of the process of becoming a better team," she wrote in the caption of her post.
"This is what 'gaining experience as a team' means. This is why we try to keep the same players, and also add more to the pool."
De Guzman said the the process of building a culture should be respected as results will follow eventually.
"When we make the mistake of putting all the weight on a 'game win' or 'historic feat' to count a day or tournament as successful, it's easy to be blind to the progress, small wins, and experience that was actually achieved," she wrote.
"But when we truly live in the moment and give full respect to the process, we learn the most and the results will eventually follow."
The Alas team captain shared her pride in seeing how the team grows and shared their victory to all their supporters.
"Patuloy na lalaban ang Alas Pilipinas para sa bayan."
De Guzman was also named as the Best Setter of the tournament, while her teammates Angel Canino and Dell Palomata were named as part of the Best Outside Hitters and Best Middle Blockers.
