As Co-Chair, H.E. Bahrain Explores AI to Boost Sustainable Development in Public Sector
The Ministry of Sustainable Development, in collaboration with Bain & Company and the World Economic Forum, hosted a workshop in Manama to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied to drive sustainable development in Bahrain's public sector. The event brought together representatives from more than 15 government entities, with over 30 participants discussing practical ways to integrate AI into national strategies. The workshop is part of a wider initiative by Bain & Company and the World Economic Forum's 'Leaders for a Sustainable MENA (LSM)' community. The goal is to identify effective AI use cases that can strengthen sustainability across different sectors in the region. As a first step, participants worked on shaping ideas for prototype solutions that align with Bahrain's priorities. The outcomes will feed into a research-based report, expected to be published in early 2026, which will be highlighted on international platforms and events. Experts from Bain & Company shared insights into how AI is already being used in the Middle East and showcased global examples of successful public sector applications. They also emphasized the importance of governments keeping pace with global advances in AI and building strong local capabilities to benefit from these technologies. The workshop featured discussions on how AI can accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also reviewing scalable technical solutions powered by AI. Participants praised Bahrain's government for its commitment to innovation and its efforts to embed AI into public services in a structured way that improves efficiency, speeds up procedures, and creates greater value for citizens and residents alike. The Ministry of Sustainable Development highlighted that this workshop reflects Bahrain's vision to position itself as a regional hub for innovation in sustainable development, while strengthening partnerships with international institutions and leading global companies.

Tamkeen Supports the Career Development of over 60 Bahrainis at the 'Benefit' Company
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced its support for the career development of over 60 Bahrainis at the Benefit Company through multiple initiatives such as Employment Support, Career Development Support, and On-The-Job Training, in addition to taking on leadership roles in the company through the Leadership Employment Programme. Tamkeen's support for the Benefit Company is aligned with its strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labour market and private sector. On this occasion, Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) reaffirmed Tamkeen's ongoing commitment to enabling Bahrainis attain high-quality jobs in key economic sectors. 'As part of our mission, we remain focused on enabling Bahrainis to access high-value career opportunities, particularly in strategic sectors such as financial services – the largest non-oil contributor to the national economy,' said Ms. Mofeez. 'Tamkeen's support for the career progression of national talent in the private sector – whether through wage support or enabling them to assume leadership roles – is part of a strategic framework that aims to position the Bahraini citizen as the first choice of employment in the labour market.
