Aahana Kumra: I almost got arrested in Goa for fighting with a cop

Time of India5 days ago
Aahana Kumra recently enjoyed a memorable trip to Goa with friends. She fondly recalls a past incident where she almost got arrested for arguing with a police officer.
Aahana Kumra
was recently in Goa for a leisure trip with her friends — an impromptu getaway, she says 'It was my friend's 40th birthday. We stayed at this beautiful villa and had one of the best times in this weather.
"
Her connection with Goa goes back to her student days, when she had a brush with the law. 'I have the funniest memory that I almost got arrested in Goa for fighting with a cop. I had no idea what I was fighting about — it was just stupid. The Goa officer was like, 'No one has fought with me.' He was so angry that he almost arrested me. My friends asked me to say sorry, and then he let me go. Every time my friends mention Goa, they look at me and start laughing.
'
She adds, 'Monsoons are my favourite time to go. The last few years, I've only been going during monsoons. It's pleasant, empty roads, cafes and beaches aren't crowded, and the food is great. Goa is the most beautiful during monsoons — everything is lush green.'
Running remains part of her routine whenever she travels. 'I always carry my running shoes. This time, I ran around a small village in Goa. People were waving at me, it's the best way to see a city — doing the local things, looking around, admiring those small Goan houses, and soaking in the slow life. I love to go for a run when in Goa. The run at the beaches and roads, especially near Candolim, is so fulfilling.'

According to this news report 1 , a recent survey finding in The 2025 Luxury Residential Sentiment Survey by Sotheby's International Realty states that 54% of respondents expressed interest in buying or upgrading to a second home. A change in lifestyle priorities has contributed to this shift in owning a luxury property in serene yet well-connected locations. It is a chance for individuals to escape from city life, and unwind in large open green spaces with an array of thoughtful amenities. Goa's infrastructural and economic developments have further elevated its stature. We believe the fundamentals driving demand in Goa — lifestyle appeal, improving connectivity, and the rise of discerning domestic buyers — remain intact,' Samujjwal Ghosh, CEO, The House of Abhinandan Lodha®. The unique combination of exclusive branded developments, amenities, and enhanced accessibility via the new MOPA International Airport , add to Goa's appeal as a destination for premium second residences. Filmmakers must showcase lesser-known natural locations in Goa to boost tourism: CM

Panaji: The Goa State Film Festival 2025 was inaugurated on Thursday by chief minister Pramod Sawant , marking a milestone as the Goan film industry celebrates 75 years of cinematic heritage. The festival, running from Aug 14 to 17, features a line-up of 19 films along with workshops and events designed to nurture aspiring filmmakers. In his opening remarks, Sawant emphasised the festival's role as a platform for budding talent in the Konkani film industry. 'This festival is a great opportunity for those who aspire to join the Konkani film fraternity,' he said. Highlighting the vast potential of Goan artistes, Sawant expressed optimism about their ability to break into larger film industries. 'Goans have the talent to go to Bollywood and Hollywood. We only need to give them finishing lessons,' he said. 'Plans are afoot at honing skills, with drama schools opening at Bal Bhavan and Kala Academy, and acting lessons being introduced in schools across Goa,' he added. He also urged filmmakers to explore and showcase Goa's lesser-known natural locations in Konkani films.
