"Terrorism, Pakistan are synonymous": All-party delegation member Samik Bhattacharya in Belgium
He said that cross-border terrorism will be treated as a terrorist act and responded to accordingly, as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance.
Bhattacharya highlighted the global threat of radicalism and illegal immigration, citing India's experience with Bangladesh.
Speaking to ANI, Samik Bhattacharya said, 'Prime Minister Modi has already made our stand clear that in the future, cross-border terrorism will be treated as a terrorist act and we will respond accordingly...The threat facing the whole world is radicalism, illegal immigration, which is happening in India because of Bangladesh...What is happening in India today can happen in Europe tomorrow...We all should be united in the fight against terrorism...Terrorism and Pakistan are synonymous...'
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who is part of the same all-party delegation, said that India has clearly conveyed its message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
She added that there needs to be accountability for countries like Pakistan if funds reaching them are being used to support terrorism. Chaturvedi said global action is needed to expose and stop such support.
'...Unless we adopt a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism, the whole country will remain insecure. We have spread the message of zero tolerance towards terrorism, and they have been very positive...We believe there should be accountability, and the money that is reaching Pakistan, if it is being used for terrorism, it should be exposed...We should hold them accountable,' Chaturvedi said.
The delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and consists of Daggubati Purandeswari of TDP, Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena-UBT, Ghulam Ali Khatana of BJP, Dr Amar Singh of Congress, Samik Bhattacharya of BJP, former Union Minister MJ Akbar and Ambassador Pankaj Saran.
In a diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, the Modi government has formed seven multi-party delegations to inform nations about Pakistan's links to terrorism and India's strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Jamshedpur: Prominent politicians from Kolhan on Monday paid rich tributes to Shibu Soren and recalled their first meeting with him. Former CM Arjun Munda , who started his political career with JMM before switching to the BJP, said he was drawn to Shibu in the 1980s. "The charisma of Disom Guru Shibu Soren was like a magnetic pull, which drew me closer to his agitation, against the money lenders and land grabbers, as a schoolboy in the 1980s," he said. Recalling that his family too was a victim of land sharks, Munda, a former Union minister, said a fire was kindled in him as a young boy when he heard about Shibu, a man from Santhal Pargana, who was taking the pain to ensure that adivasi land is not grabbed by crafty money lenders "I physically first saw Guruji during a public rally in Telco area of Jamshedpur, where thousands of Adivasis had gathered to hear their leader, who promised to fight for their rights. I was so motivated by his speech that I decided instantly to join the movement under the leadership of this long hair-bearded man in kurta pajamas, who by that time had become my hero," said Munda. Cong MLA to join AGP before '26 polls
1 2 Silchar: In a significant development ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, Congress MLA from Karimganj South and former minister Siddeque Ahmed has announced his decision to join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a member of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Ahmed said he held discussions with senior AGP leaders, including party president Atul Bora. "I have talked to the AGP leadership and finalised my decision to join the party. The Congress has no future in Assam under the current leadership," Ahmed added. Congress had suspended its Ahmed from the primary membership of the party in Apr, 2022 after he deliberately disobeyed the three-line whip issued by the party for the Rajya Sabha poll. A four-time MLA (one each from Samata Party and as Independent and two times as Congress) from the minority-dominated constituency, Ahmed has been a prominent face of Congress in the Barak Valley. He had earlier served as a cabinet minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led govt. Since his suspension from the party, Ahmed publicly criticised the functioning of the Congress in the state, but had not formally indicated any plans of switching allegiance — until now. Taking a swipe at Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, Ahmed said, "Congress under Gaurav Gogoi can't win the next Assembly elections. The party's performance in the last panchayat polls was a disaster. People have lost faith in the party." He added that several of his supporters and grassroots workers from Sribhumi district would also join the AGP in the coming days. "The AGP still commands respect among the people of Assam. My supporters and I will strengthen the NDA to ensure stability and development in the state," he the AGP leadership has not officially confirmed the date of Ahmed's induction, party insiders indicated that a formal joining ceremony may take place in Guwahati later this month. Ahmed's defection is being seen as a blow to the Congress in Barak Valley, a region where the party has traditionally held influence. With this move, the AGP also hopes to expand its footprint in the Bengali-speaking areas of southern Assam.
