WITH summer quickly approaching, motoring experts have revealed their picks for the best seven-seater cars.
Whether you're looking for the perfect family-sized SUV or something to fit all your friends for a summer road trip, the list compiled by Autocar includes something for everyone.
Seven-seater cars have undergone a transformation over the last decade, largely moving away from MPV styles to more modern SUVs.
Their newer, sleeker design remains just as practical, with multiple rows of seats and plenty of luggage space.
Some modern seven-seaters also run on electric, making sure that your summer road trip is not only fun, but eco-friendly, too.

The Dacia Jogger made the top of the list for the best seven-seater.
Not only is it the cheapest car on the list, but it also offers a great design that is easy to drive and fits the whole family.
While the third row might be better suited for children on longer journeys, the car can comfortably carry seven people, and has up to 2094 litres of carrying capacity with the rear seats lowered or removed.
Extra storage compartments are located throughout the cabin, making the most of a relatively-compact, affordable car.

For those after an electric vehicle, the Kia EV9 might be your best option.
A similar size to the Range Rover Sport, the car still manages to reach impressively high speeds and has a 313 mile range.
The cabin can be arranged to accommodate several combinations, with a six- or seven- seat layout, and rear seats that stow and deploy electronically for ease.

Having been on the market for almost a decade, it's no surprise that Volvo's seven-seater model is leading the way for these larger vehicles.
This new hybrid model is a great car for everyday use, with low running costs and a well-equipped interior.
It emphasises comfort and refinement meaning there is plenty of space for seven adults to travel in style.

Its 2024 redesign has ensured the Hyundai Santa Fe's position as one of the best seven-seater vehicles on the market.
Despite only offering 33 miles of electric-only range on its hybrid model, the car's practicality and extensive space more than makes up for it.
Its hybrid model has 992 litres of space with its rear seats folded down, and can comfortably carry up to six passengers.

Using a more traditional MPV design, the Volkswagen Multivan provides unrivalled space and versatility.
Its interior can be easily customised, making it a great option for a wide range of uses, whether you need the space for seven adults, or want to make use of the extensive boot space.
Land Rover Defender 130

Land Rover is known for their spacious vehicles, and the new Defender 130 is no exception.
With space for up to eight passengers in a 2/3/3 formation, the car even has a 400-litre boot, although its size does make for tight parking.
Its luxury feel is accompanied by a high price point, with its cheapest models costing at least £70,000.

With two cars making the list, Land Rover is an obvious choice for those looking to supersize their motor.
The Discovery offers a slightly more accessible alternative to the Defender, with seven seats that comfortably fit adults, and a boot that still holds 258 litres even when all seats are in use.
Skoda Kodiaq

Despite only launching their first seven-seater SUV in 2016, Skoda has cemented its place as one of the top brands for affordability and practicality.
The second-generation Kodiaq features a big cabin and a generous boot, all with a reasonably affordable price tag.
It is available in a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with mild-hybrid assist, and a 2.0-litre diesel ensuring it is pleasant to drive.

The Tayron is a great all-round option for motorists, with a nice interior and a wide variety of powertrain options available.
The car is available in a petrol, diesel, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid model.
However, its third row might be a tight squeeze for older teens and adults.

Despite its compact design, the Mercedes-Benz GLB still has adequate space for seven passengers.
It offers a smooth driving experience across a range of models, with its 4Matic model working well as an off-road alternative.
However, prices do start at £55,000 with just 257 mile range making it one of the pricier options on the list.

I'm a high-end valet cleaner – the 3 everyday habits that are silently destroying your car's interior

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THREE everyday habits could be destroying your motor's interior, according to experts. Most drivers think they're taking good care of their cars, but one luxury valet cleaner says three everyday habits could be doing serious damage without you realising. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 These three everyday habits could be doing serious damage to your motor's interior Credit: Getty 2 These tips will help prevent big repair bills Tommy Reece, based in London, has cleaned everything from top-spec Range Rovers to six-figure super cars. He warns even the most well-off clients are guilty of these common mistakes. During a chat with motor experts Number 1 Plates, he revealed the top three red some maybe surprising. Tommy said: "These are the things I see in almost every car I clean. "They might seem harmless, but they absolutely trash the interior - and it's not always something you can just wipe away." 1. Eating fast food in your car Whether it's a quick burger or cheeky drive-thru coffee, eating on the go is the number one mistake. "Chips under the seats, ketchup in the stitching, greasy fingerprints everywhere - fast food is the biggest killer of clean interiors," Tommy said. Number 1 Plates' motor experts agreed. They said: "Oil and salt from food can sink into fabrics and plastics. Motoring expert shares hacks to fix up your car using simple household goods "Once that smell sets in, it's incredibly hard to remove.' Their advice is to eat before, not during, your drive. 2. Never dusting or hoovering If you think your car looks clean because the outside is gleaming, think again. Tommy revealed: "Most people never touch the inside. "You get a build-up of dust, crumbs, dog hair, even makeup residue. "It slowly eats away at your interior.' Number 1 Plates recommends a quick vacuum once a week and a microfiber wipe down of your dash and controls to prevent long-term wear and tear. 3. Leaving drinks unsecured Your morning coffee may be your interior's worst enemy. Tommy said: "I've seen spilled lattes under seats, sticky energy drinks in cup holders, and fizzy drinks that have etched into leather. "One client lost £600 repairing a panel after a protein shake exploded." According to Number 1 Plates, drivers should use sealed, spill-proof containers or simply wait until parked before drinking anything. So, if you want to protect your car's resale value and avoid big repair bills, start by breaking these everyday habits. "A little care goes a long way," Tommy said. "It's always the small things that do the most damage."

From Autocar firing James May to the rise of Max Power: this is the inside story of car magazines in the '90s

The answer can be traced to something that became common in media circles at the time, namely 'lifestyle'. There had been hints of it in car magazines for years, not least through Performance Car columnist Clarkson, who had pioneered a blokey tone that was more akin to the emerging lad culture of Loaded, FHM et al. Max Power went several steps further, needling the establishment with its underground modded car cruises and something largely absent from car mags of the time: humour. How dare they. As the magazines evolved, so did the focus of some advertisers, shifting from the bread and butter of 'Vorsprung durch Technik' to more brand-oriented concepts, where cars were associated with things that were inherently cooler, such as, you guessed it, lads' mags. It was around this time that Autocar, hot on the heels of its 100th birthday, relaunched with a striking yellow masthead penned at great cost by Pentagram, a renowned design consultancy. Inside, the photos became less descriptive and more atmospheric, while the features section evolved into something more weird. Autocar readers, accustomed to their weekly dose of car news and sport, were not convinced. The sales went backwards, and in less than 18 months the yellow masthead, known internally as 'the flying arsehole' (it was supposed to be a tyre), had been replaced by something altogether more traditional. The circulation recovered. Autocar was not the only car magazine to suffer from this identity crisis. Emap, revelling in the soaring circulation of Max Power, decided to close Performance Car in 1998 because of a perceived lack of demand for traditional performance motoring content. The senior journalists on Performance Car, Richard Meaden and John Barker, thought otherwise, and, with the backing of farmer Harry Metcalfe and publisher Allan Pattison, they launched Evo in 1998 on a shoestring budget. Evo made the definitive case for the traditional car magazine in the mould of Car and Autocar, complete with high-quality writing and 'photos you could frame'. It worked brilliantly. The car media's lifestyle experiment was not quite over, however.

A gorgeous Bentley Turbo R was listed on Auto Trader, having once been the pride of joy of the Don't Look Back in Anger singer. The Turbo R - with the 'R" standing for "roadholding" - boasts a 6.8-litre V8 engine and is good for 0-60mph under seven seconds, as well as a top speed of 143mph. Not only built for speed, the Bentley boasts all the trimmings you'd expect from a luxury set of wheels of its time - featuring a cream leather interior, complemented by a wood trim. Described as being in both "excellent condition" and "surprisingly reliable", the Turbo R has clocked some 100,000 miles in its 28-year life. The snazzy motor also has the number plate 'OASI6 2', in reference to the Britpop band, which is set to reunite to play a run of gigs this year in the UK and Ireland. This includes shows at Manchester's Heaton Park, London's Wembley Stadium, and Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium, throughout July, August and September. The reunion made history, with more than 10million fans trying to get their hands on the British shows alone. Every performance, including those in the US, South America and Australia, sold out within minutes of going on sale. Famously, the Manchester-born musician has never passed his driving test - but seemingly hasn't stopped him owning or, indeed, driving cars. In 2023, he was handed six penalty points and ordered to pay a court £1,000 for failing to tell police who was driving his Range Rover - which was clocked speeding at 41mph on a 30mph stretch of the A40 in Edgware Road, West London. Noel Gallagher looks stony-faced as he makes lonely Tube journey to Oasis rehearsals – but Liam's entrance is chaotic Speaking about the Bentley's sale, Erin Baker, editorial director at Auto Trader, said: 'Cars listed by music legends don't come around very often, and Noel Gallagher's Bentley Turbo R is certainly one for the Auto Trader history books." Auto Trader's Catherine King recently spoke to Sun Motors with advice on the best second-hand convertibles drivers can pick up at a pinch in time for the summer sun. Naturally, their picks included the evergreen Mazda MX-5 - dubbed the poster child for convertible cars.
