Premier League matches to be preceded by silence in memory of Diogo Jota
The league has spoken to Liverpool about the most appropriate way to remember the Portuguese star, who was killed in a car crash alongside his brother on July 3 in Spain.
As well as a period of silence prior to kick-off in the matches, players of all clubs will be given black armbands while messaging and imagery will be shared with clubs for them to use on big screens.
Tributes were paid to the brothers prior to last Sunday's Community Shield between Liverpool and Crystal Palace at Wembley, with wreaths laid on the pitch and a period of silence before kick-off.
A minority of Eagles fans broke the silence, eliciting a strong response at the other end of the pitch, as well as from other Eagles supporters who tried to silence those not respecting the tribute.
Reds head coach Arne Slot said: 'I don't think this was planned, or that this was the idea of the fan that made some noise. Maybe he wasn't aware of the fact that it was the minute of silence.
'He was just still happy and tried to cheer for his team. And I think then the fans of Palace were trying to calm that person or those persons down, so I don't think he had a bad intention, the guy or people that made noise.
'They tried to calm him down, but that was a bit noisy as well. And then our fans reacted, 'Hey, what's happening here?'.
'So I don't think there's a bad intention to it, because the fans of Crystal Palace and everywhere around the world have paid huge respect to Diogo and Andre and this was, I think, unlucky or, I can't find the right words, but I don't think there was a bad intention in it.'
Liverpool fans earlier paid their respects with a rousing rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as the wreaths were brought out, raising a white banner reading 'Diogo J' and featuring the forward's image and number 20.
The club's record goalscorer Ian Rush, Palace chairman Steve Parish and Football Association chair Debbie Hewitt laid the wreaths in the Liverpool end as fans from both sides showed their respect with a standing ovation as the siblings' images were displayed on the big screens inside the stadium.
Liverpool have retired Jota's number 20 shirt in tribute to the player.

Transfer news LIVE: Eze chooses Arsenal FC; Man Utd in Baleba push; Isak to Liverpool; Donnarumma latest
With the new Premier League season now just a day away, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all working hard on deals before the big kick-off. Manchester City, though, could be the next club making a splash in the window as they look to shuffle their goalkeeper union, with Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma newly on the market. He could be available for a bargain fee of just £26m, though his six-figure wages may prove a stumbling block.

Liverpool transfer news: Arne Slot '24 hours from deal' amid Alexander Isak stand-off
Liverpool are yet to return with a second offer for Alexander Isak after Newcastle rejected a bid of £120million - but the Reds are getting on with other business instead Liverpool have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window and are showing no signs of slowing down. Arne Slot's side have splashed over £300million to sign Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman. They have seen a £120m bid rejected by Newcastle for Alexander Isak, but the saga continues to rumble on. Isak is still desperately holding out for his dream move to Anfield and is refusing to play for the Magpies. But for now he is not the priority for Liverpool, who have their eye on signing two defenders. Both Slot and Virgil van Dijk identified the defence as the weakest aspect of the side after their defeat on penalties by Crystal Palace in the Community Shield. And the club has wasted no time in acting upon those worries. Here are the latest transfer news stories. Reds wrapping up Leoni deal Liverpool have wasted no time in pursuing Parma defender Giovanni Leoni and could have a deal wrapped up within 24 hours, according to talkSPORT. Mirror Football reported on Tuesday that the Reds wanted to sign Leoni and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. And they have raced through negotiations and will sign the Italian for a fee in the region of £30million. The 18-year-old centre-back is under contract with Parma until June 2029 but is keen to move to Anfield. Liverpool have received a glowing endorsement from Arrigo Sacchi. 'We'll see if the deal goes through, but in any case, I'd say the Reds would be making a great move by signing this young man, whom I followed with interest and curiosity in the second half of last season,' the legendary manager wrote in Gazzetta Dello Sport. 'I'm convinced he'll be the lynchpin of the Azzurri defence for a long time.' Glasner's Guehi stance Liverpool have also opened talks to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after facing them in the Community Shield. The England star's contract expires next summer, leaving Palace in a difficult position. Nevertheless, the Guardian have reported that manager Oliver Glasner wants Guehi to stay for another season at Palace, even if that means losing him for free next summer. Liverpool are attempting to land him for a fee between £30m and £35m, but Guehi is happy to stay put if his side's £40m valuation isn't met. Liverpool to keep Konate The summer at Liverpool started with reports of Ibrahima Konate's unhappiness after the club offered him a new contract. Konate was reportedly upset with the offer, which did not value him as highly as others in the squad. He has been linked with Real Madrid frequently, but Liverpool have pushed back on those reports. The Reds sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the window while Nat Phillips also departed for West Brom, leaving Joe Gomez as the most senior back up to Konate and Van Dijk, but he is currently injured. Despite signing Leoni and Guehi, Liverpool want to keep Konate, who they see as crucial to their chances of defending their Premier League title. Eagles to induct Malcolm Jenkins, Bucko Kilroy into team's HOF
August 14 - By Field Level Media The Philadelphia Eagles are honoring a relatively recent standout in Malcolm Jenkins and one of their early greats in the late Bucko Kilroy with their induction into the franchise's hall of fame in November, the team announced on Wednesday. The Class of 2025 will be inducted on Nov. 28 during the game against the Chicago Bears. "It's a huge honor," said Jenkins, 37, a former All-Pro safety who was at the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and didn't know about the announcement. "It's confirmation that what I did meant something and had impact beyond what I did on the field. It was about the people that I interacted with and how those people then changed. It's a great testament not only to me, but to everybody that I had a chance to interact with." New Orleans selected Jenkins in the first round (14th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He played his first five seasons for the Saints (2009-13) and the next six with Philadelphia (2011-13) before returning to New Orleans for his last two years (2020-21). He earned his three Pro Bowl nods with the Eagles (2015, 2017, 2018), and won the Super Bowl with as a Saints rookie in 2009 and with the Eagles in 2017 for the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy. Jenkins totaled 515 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 58 passes defended, 12 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions -- four returned for touchdowns -- in 96 regular-season games (all starts) with the Eagles. His career totals were 1,044 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 110 passes defended, 20 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and 21 interceptions (seven returned for scores). The Eagles chose Jenkins as their nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2019. He won the Byron "Whizzer" White Award from the NFLPA in 2017 for his community outreach efforts. Francis Joseph "Bucko" Kilroy was a Philadelphia native who played at Notre Dame and Temple before playing his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles from 1943-55. He played in 134 regular-season games (103 starts) on the offensive and defensive line. Kilroy was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-1940s team as well as the Pro Bowl in 1952, 1953 and 1954. Kilroy was a key member of the franchise's first NFL championship in 1948 as well as the second in 1949. Kilroy, who died in 2007 at age 86, continued to impact professional football as an Eagles assistant coach and in player personnel for several teams. He helped found the league's scouting combine and shape the NFL Draft into its modern form. Kilroy spent 64 years in the league, and has been a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor.
