The comedic skits were created by Jay Renshaw, who is the main character of the show and Kiel Kennedy, the off-screen character and the man behind the camera.
Where it all started:
'Do it lady!'
Renshaw's first skit is the now-viral skit that features the memorable line, "Do it lady!", where Chit's coworkers are confused when he writes "Do it lady!" in a birthday card intended for a colleague's surprise office party.
Despite their confusion, Chit attempts to convince everyone that it is a genuine catchphrase. What they do not understand is that the phrase is actually Chit's way of saying 'You go, girl!' or 'Yes, girl!'
'Black purse'
The second viral skit that left the internet in stitches is the 'Black purse' skit where Chit walks in the office and asks: 'Is there a black person in here?' which again left his co-workers confused because his black co-worker, Linda is in the room along with the other two white co-workers.
Only to find out that he actually meant 'Is there a black purse in here?' as he sees it and reaches for it when Linda is about to confront him for what he is saying.
The internet loves Chit
Renshaw and Kennedy continue to make other comedic skits which are being loved by the internet just as much as the viral two skits and Renshaw shared on his TikTok bio that new episodes of 'The Chit Show' will be dropped weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The internet has been loving Chit, and many have shared videos saying that the catchphrase 'Do it lady!' has been their favourite phrase to randomly say out loud, or they have now added it to their vocabulary.

Cape Town vs Durban: American couple asks TikTok where they should live

An American couple who moved to Cape Town two years ago, are now keen to move to Durban. Image: Screenshot / TikTok An American couple who sold everything they owned back home have made South Africa their new home. The couple, along with their two children, have been living in Cape Town for almost two years. While they were confident about their decision to settle in the Mother City, a recent visit to Durban has left them torn between the two coastal cities. After spending time in Durban, enjoying the great weather, meeting new people, and falling in love with the cuisine, they are now seriously considering making it their new home. Husband Kenzo took to his TikTok account to ask South Africans whether they should make the move. 'Did I make a mistake moving to Cape Town over Durban?' he asks his followers. As he describes what he enjoys about Durban, his wife, Kourtney, is heard chiming in the background, insisting that almost everything is better there. She goes on to ask what the real difference between the two cities is, adding that they would have no problem packing up their home, kids, and dogs to make another move. 'We've done it before,' she says. Video Player is loading. 'Cape is the best city by beauty but if you wanna see great people and have some of the best times in your lives come to Durban you won't regret it truth be told,' said one viewer. Another follower, who feels strongly about living in Durban, said: 'Durban is warm all year round. Biggest Indian population outside of India. Mostly English and Zulu speaking. Schools are amazing, affordable and the sports culture is huge for both children and adults. Something to think about for sure.' Others prefer Durban over Cape Town simply because it's cheaper to live there. One viewer put it plainly: 'Durban is cheaper than Cape Town. That is the major difference,' while another commented: 'Capetown is very expensive we only go there for vacation.' Even some who live in Cape Town suggested that the couple move to Durban. 'Absolutely! I've been living in Cape Town for about 9 years, culturally it takes a while, people are cliquey, it's safer but you not going to have the same warmness and welcome like Durban. Oh and you get the racists,' said one TikToker. Another added: 'I am a Capetonian living in Durban. I love Cape Town, but I found my success in Durban. I also feel it's a better place to raise children. Cape Town is a holiday destination.' IOL Lifestyle

AI-generated hits go viral: implications for musicians and the industry

AI-generated songs are quickly capturing widespread attention across the internet, drawing listeners, creators, and industry professionals alike into conversations about the evolving role of artificial intelligence in music creation. Earlier this week, a colleague introduced me to a song titled 'Walking Away' by Sadie Winters. AI-generated songs are rapidly gaining attention online. The question now is whether the music industry is at risk. Other users pointed out the potential for the AI-created artist to gain a virtual following. The song has drawn attention on social media. Users have commented on its quality, with some noting that they would not have recognised it as AI-generated without seeing news reports. Reports indicate that the lyrics and the artist persona 'Sadie Winters' were generated in four seconds, with the melody and voice completed in about two minutes. What makes it notable is that it was generated entirely by artificial intelligence (AI). The song was created by YouTuber, producer and multi-instrumentalist Rick Beato using the AI tool, Suno. This is not an isolated case. In 2023, a TikTok user named ghostwriter977 produced a song called 'Heart on My Sleeve', which mimicked the voices of Drake and The Weeknd. The song went viral, gathering over 15 million views on TikTok and hundreds of thousands of streams elsewhere, despite neither Drake nor The Weeknd being involved or aware of its creation. Universal Music Group, which represented both artists, criticised the release and called on platforms to take legal and ethical responsibility to prevent the use of AI in ways that infringe on artists' rights. The debate over AI in music centres on legal and ethical responsibilities. Fisani Nyandeni, former PR manager at Sony Music Entertainment Africa, told 'Independent Media Lifestyle' that AI in the music industry is a current reality that lacks regulation. Nyandeni raised questions about copyright implications, such as whether artists could take legal action if their voices or styles were used without permission and how ownership would work if AI created compositions independently. At the same time, he noted that AI could also provide opportunities for artists, including methods to digitally protect their voice, style and tempo from unauthorised AI use. Copyright and trademark law remain complex, and clear protections for artists have yet to be established. In 2023, Drake expressed frustration with AI-generated content using his likeness, and the Universal Music Group reiterated that unauthorised AI-generated content violates copyright law and breaches agreements with digital streaming platforms. They emphasised that the music industry must decide whether it wants to support human creators or allow deepfakes and unauthorised reproductions. In my view, despite concerns, AI can never replace the human element in music. The emotion and intention behind a song come from the artists and producers themselves. It is the human experience - what the artist feels, reflects on and translates into music - that connects with listeners. Producers make choices based on the emotions and context of the song, shaping it in ways that AI cannot replicate. While AI may assist with technical aspects of production, it cannot fully capture the human creativity, interpretation or emotional depth that drives music.

When you're not the real deal: the Justin Bieber impersonator who fooled a Vegas nightclub

A Justin Bieber lookalike tricked everyone at a Las Vegas nightclub by performing for a large audience before he was discovered. Image: X A Justin Bieber impersonator managed to sneak his way into XS Nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas over the weekend, convincing staff and even DJ Gryffin that he was the real deal. The fake Bieber arrived with an 'advance team' and put on a convincing act that got him into the DJ booth and eventually onto the stage. He performed 10 songs for the packed crowd before staff realised they had been fooled. DJ Gryffin, who was performing that night, brought the impersonator on stage and shared the moment on Instagram, only to later find out that his supposed star guest was just a lookalike in a hoodie. 'The place went wild,' Gryffin admitted, saying he was just as shocked as everyone else once the truth came out. The club later confirmed the incident, saying the man and his crew staged an 'elaborate and multi-step ruse' to get access, and they did such a stellar job because it's really hard to see that the impersonator is, in fact, not the 'Go Baby' singer. According to DJ Gryffin, the impersonator's team told club staff that Bieber himself would be present and keen to join the night's performance. Once the mistake was spotted, the impersonator was removed from the resort, banned from all Wynn properties, and denied future entry. Reports also claim he left behind a whopping $10,000 (approximately R176,223) bar tab. It seems as though the city is all about partying and not so much about who is providing the good vibes. According to netizens, this is not the first time Vegas has been fooled by a convincing lookalike. The city's nightlife is full of stories of random people being mistaken for celebrities simply because of a strong resemblance.
